Its all about making more money for the supplier. You only get so much R- value of energy sufficiency. More insulation doesnt mean anything that its going to be better necessarily as far as thickness or how much. P.S 6 inches thick will do just fine whether its 12 inches thick

What about radiant heat and humidity control?

Radiant heat goes into the floor, I would want it over 12" of foam and likely vapor barrier.
Humidity control is done by a "Whole house fan" or cupola with fan.
Or a Heat recovery ventilation (HRV) unit.
Im thinking the insulated panels for better moisture condensation control. as well as insulation for cold months.
