I learned of Michael Spyres only yesterday. Naturally, I was struck by his enormous vocal range and ability to sing with full baritone weight or with the most beautiful light tenor tone. Truly a singer of the very highest caliber, employing a stunning instrument with beauty and precision.
This is a truly beautiful rendering. What a wonderful voice. Such colour and depth of feeling. I am privileged to hear this outstanding performance. Handel would be proud. Mairead Tallon, Dublin, Ireland
Gosh, this artist is beyond limits ... Imagine a heldentenor-high-baritone-baritenor bringing any kind of dramatic-lyric-mezzavoce-forte-pianississimo-legato-coloratura-staccato you would like to imagine and delivers it with impeccable command of his instrument, imagine that this gentleman worked for more than a decade on his upper register, cracking endlessly but never giving up believing in the instinct that told him he has some tenoral qualities in his formidable baritone voice, and imagine that he did all that on his own, without teacher apart from that one who predicted that he might be kind of a tenor ... Let's free our mind of thinking in "Stimmfach" and let's become free artists again.
How ridiculous people can be ! We just don’t care about real and fake tenor. There is just people who can sing or not the tenor voice. And apparently he can, and better than a lot of real tenor 😂
One of the very best tenors around today. Hasn't reached his peak yet. If he wasn't American he would be hailed the world over. Snobbery still exists in the opera and classical music world. He's probably the most versatile tenor in the world, can you imagine Pavarotti or Domingo singing Handel's Messiah?😂
Superlative inspiring performance founded on impeccable, 'to the nth degree' preparation, both vocally and dramatically. I'd suggest it exceeds the parameters of masterly and definitive and tends toward unprecedented, visionary, and revelationary
Spyres is a wonderful singer with a delightfully engaging personality. Look for the video where he talks about becoming a baritenor. That looks like John Nelson conducting.
Isaiah 40:1-5- Comfort ye, comfort ye MY people, saith your GOD. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our GOD. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain. And the GLORY of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. (KJV)
David Phelps podría tener su misma idea. Es una lástima que no se haya dedicado de lleno al lírico, tiene la misma genética que este único Hombre, tremenda caja y amplio rango!!
I prefer a female voice for the upper part of "O Death", not a male singer! Death was the sentence for sin to both male and female, Adam and Eve since Eden, so it should NOT be two men singing these parts: profane, utterly.
Comfort ye my people 00:12
Ev'ry valley shall be exalted 03:04
Thy rebuke hath broken his heart 06:02
Behold and see if there be any sorrow 07:57
He was cut off 09:26
But thou didst not leave his soul in hell 09:57
He that dwelleth in heaven 12:07
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron 12:32
O death, where is thy sting? 14:12

Have known this young man since his teens. I have had the pleasure of singing with him on stage in operas. He is awesome.
Michael Spyres has the perfect voice for this piece, rich and at ease in all the nuances. What a wonderful audition.
Michael brings drama with ease, originality that brings Handel alive.❤
A superlative interpretation and presentation of Handel's masterpiece.
This is marvelous. Love this version. And he sings very very good.

The very best tenor around.

Spyres is second to none. Bravo!

Ich höre ihn immer wieder gerne. Ein wunderbarer Sänger. Weiterhin viel Erfolg!
He sings so beautifully ❤
Thank you! So delicate and polished singing! Truly feast for the ears.
Ive heard people say Spyres is a"fake" tenor. Nothing fake about it! What a range. Would be nice if we could all be called just SINGERS.

Masterful performance of a demanding piece. Bravo!
Michael is a genius with a gift of voice,no doubt

I couldn’t agree more. Michael’s abilities to me are unheard of. I had the privilege to witness him sing live: he did not disappoint one bit.
Wonderful
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. SPYRES IS THE MOST COMPLET SINGER OF ALL TIME.
I am so very proud of you, my brother!!!!!!!!!!

Increíble, que torrente vocal, qué perfección, parece que esta aria se escribió para él.
Oh my God 😎😲👍
The beauty of classical music is that is allows the flight of imagination to take wing and do the impossible.

Could you upload Michael Spyres' rendition of "Ah, si ben mio / Di quella pira"? It was uploaded, but I can't find it, at least separately

whole lotta embellishing but it's really great for the most part.
