- Rufus Ferguson
The first release in our Steinway Sessions features Kalamazoo artist Rufus Ferguson's original rendition of the standard "All The Things You Are". Ferguson's' emotive and expressive playing on the Steinway can be both seen and heard throughout the performance, captured and mixed into a dark rich tone for distinctly solo jazz piano sound.
Rufus Ferguson is a jazz pianist based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He received his undergraduate degree from Western MichiganUniversity and is currently a jazz piano graduate student studying under Jeremy Siskind. Rufus is an experienced performer, arranger, composer and teacher, specifically in the jazz genre.
Rufus got his start studying classical piano at the age of 5 while also being a gospel church organist he later began playing jazz piano at the age of 13. These different studies caused him to be one of few pianists who is equally well versed in multiple genres of music and have afforded him many opportunities playing with Grammy award nominated and winning groups of all genres.
In May of 2016 Rufus became a class piano Instructor at Western Michigan University where he also directs the University Jazz Lab Band. Rufus is also a piano instructor for the Suzuki Academy, and recently appointed jazz band director for Portage Northern High School

His right hand is just a little touch heavy for my ears at times but it’s a fabulous rendition and of so very enjoyable.
its never the absolute volume , but the racio that counts.. i find it hard to explain ....
You wouldn't understand the holy Ghost hit him
He uses too much pedal. The recording seems so clear.
You missed the content of his message and his great ideas because of an accent you perceived. So sorry.
