Thank you for this lesson as the takeaway has been an issue due to a long period of rolling wrists open, leading to manipulation of hands/arms in the downswing. Rehearsing this exercise over and over is actually helping considerably. Very clear and concise instruction again from you. Regards
this video is incredible instruction mate. The wrist position drill starting at the 7 minute mark has taken my game to new heights. I practice the drill as part of my set up routine. The feed back provided helps set my take away movement, my stance as well as my posture and puts me in a physical position which allows a proper transition of the down swing. First round after practicing this technique I hit every fairway and my ball strike was much improved. Thx so much.
The more videos i watch from Kerrod the more impressed i am. Great explanation and drill. I played with a cupped wrist for Years. It makes golf very interesting.
That last little tidbit to get into the correct position not only gave me a feel for good wrist position...I came to realize my arms and hands haven't been quite deep enough at the top of back swing. Thank you!
I have always gone toe up at the parallel position, but today played a practice round with the face matching my spine angle as you suggest. I made solid contact but everything was a straight pull hook .
Yes...sometimes, for me anyway, when I get really focused on, say, what my arms or hands or club face are doing in the backswing, I forget about taking a good full turn, therefore cutting off my backswing, which leads to that trail shoulder crossing over the plane just a bit in the beginning of the downswing. PULL.
I really disagree with a lot of negative comments regarding the length of the video. I went to a local pro for lessons and I am struggling with the wrists. I truly appreciated this guy taking the time to explain why what OTHER videos say is wrong...echoing the local pro I saw. Thank you for the video, ignore the naysayers and maybe add some chapter markers to your videos, and point people to the specific chapter.
Terrific for me with lower back injury as I feel less stress on my back when I use more wrists back & forward instead of body can still hi of the teet the ball 200 mtres
Hi When I do this drill my club face in the Dow the line view where club shaft parallel to the ground my club face is up and down not square to my spine angle with club face pointing to the ground unless I roll my wrists which you don’t mention?
Would this paticular lesson be Helpful for someone whos Wrists "Breakdown" at the top of the Swing, Good Backswing but at the top the Left Wrist wants to straighten the club out (For Whatever Reasons are Unknown?!?!) and it leads to "casting". This is for a Left-handed Golfer. #PleaseHelp
When I get into the good position at the top and then start the downswing (using your drill), at impact, my club face is always open... I don't get it...
@@kerrodgraygolf so I think I figured it out! What I did was go to the top of my backswing and I noticed my left wrist was cupped and my trail wrist was flat. So I bowed my left wrist at the top which cupped my trail wrist and now on the down swing my club face is coming in much more square and I just played around with that feeling a bunch. Now I’m just having to make sure I’m turning and keeping my wrist from opening up again and it feels like I’m pointing at the ball with my right index finger at impact. Doing this also made it much easier to control the low point along with the hinge timing and it’s creating so much force I hit my 7 iron 200 yards with a straight ball flight and I feel like I barely hit it! Basically I’d take it to the top, my wrist would cup so my face was way open and then on the way down my left arm stayed to straight and I wouldn’t even try and whip the club face shut by rolling my forearms so the club was always being delivered open. Now it’s get to the top, close the club face (eventually that will just be the new normal, go to the top and it’s bowed instead of cupped) downswing, unhinge, keep turning, and slightly let the forearms roll over and that in turn is creating mostly straight shots (some left some right) on every swing but not the extreme slices or extreme hooks from trying to overcompensate or not compensate at all.
In golf instructional videos across the board, too much time is spent on what not to do. Just tell us the right way to do it. This video could be edited down to start at the 7 minute mark.
Agreed. I like so many of these guys all over RUclips providing free instruction for us hacks. But holy shit, 98% of these videos could be less than three minutes long. As you said. Just effin tell us what to do. Haha.
@@kerrodgraygolf I played your video again and it is not really complicated, just a lot of content explained in a short time. I personally find t turning the handle with the forearms around the body in the backswing is more effective than concentrating on the wrists alone. If I concentrate on just the wrists I get handsy and armsy and don't produce a good body swing. Maybe it's my individual swing feeling.
This is excellent, professional, concise golf instruction. Fortunate to be able to watch this. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad it helped you out.

Excellent instruction. Sure seems simple, but it’s always harder for me when I have to move from the simple drill to actually hitting a ball!!

Great to hear - Amazing you were able to see results straight away!
I definitely want to work on that move. I can see where it will increase my repeatability in my golf swing. Thanx
Thanks for watching!
Good Luck 👍
Very insightful. The drill with the flat swing then activating the hip flexors is super. Taking it to the range in the morning.

I have a feeling this video is going to help my contact a lot, thank you! I’d love to see a follow up on the same topic but for chipping and pitching!
Noted! Best of luck. Thanks for the comment 🙂

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the kind words. All my new videos have chapters!
Excellent video it just correct the most basic part of my swing and wrist movement,
Great to hear!
Thanks👍
Brilliant Lesson

Go to 7:00 mark to see what to do.
does this work for driver also?
7:05 ish 💥
Can’t wait to try this
Thanks for the visit and All the best 👍
Awesome explanation! Much thanks 🙏
Thank you, mate!
Really good and easy way.
I appreciate your comment Nar! I'm glad it helped you out.
Wow how long have I been breaking my wrists? Great video.
Once you learn this you can slice or draw the ball on command. Best lesson as far as striking the ball with a open or closed club face.
Thank you! Appreciate it!
What's the difference between your drill and actually fanning the club?
easy to understand, thanks.
Glad to hear that!
Thanks 👍

Hopefully helpful too?
Do you play on tour
Nice video 👍 well explained
Thanks Kris! 🙂

Ah that must be frustrating! Try moving your ball position slightly forward.

Great job on pinpointing your error! Definitely easier said than done 👍
I realized that I am too active with my hands. After the club is parallel the body completes the backswing.
This camera is insane

Lol! There's no "H" in assume!!
👍💯
Less talk more action
he pronounced "assuming" really funny. like some foreign guy
What you say is correct but you make it so complicated.
Thanks for the feedback

brutal - get to the point please
😅
You talk to long to explain a simple movement
Thanks!
