I saw the original in theaters and absolutely loved the simplicity of it. 2 victims, 3 killers, grounded in reality, no ghosts, zombies, Japanese based phantom girls. No cheap jump scares. Just good old classic American shock and terror of mid to late 70s exploitation films. It also provided plenty of atmosphere and suspense which was truly lacking in mainstream horror in 2008. Of course, your average movie goer/reviewer may say otherwise but to someone who has been watching horror films for over 30 years, I know what scares me and what doesn't. I finally just watched this sequel last night for the first time and I liked it more than the original actually. It maintained everything positive from the original while creating a fresh film. Sure, it's a similar premise, but there was no cat and mouse games for 90 minutes only for the 2 victims to die at the end. This one goes down a whole different way which really sucks the viewer in a way I wasn't prepared for. I liked the family in the sequel way more than the couple with a rocky relationship in the first film. Now i'm not particularly fond of the teenage angst girl character in most horror films but Bailee Madison did a pretty convincing job in my book of being this melodramatic teenage rebel who gets scared out of her mind. Even the cinematography in the sequel created a sense of claustrophobia in a wide open trailer park/campground. I found myself constantly wanting the camera to pan around the characters because there was a feeling that one of the strangers would be there stalking them. The only eye rolling I did was during the climax in which sack head seemed impervious to pain akin to Michael Myers. Other than that, it's a truly suspenseful watch well deserving of more praise amid all of the paranormal/supernatural schlock and gag inducing jump scares that continues to plague mainstream horror cinema to this day.
I know this is 2 years old. But the character choices and events that occur in the first movie are way more realistic. strictly Funny thing is you can't speak for everyone.. and reviews are nothing.. someone can say it's a horrible movie next thing you know someone loves it.. But why am i saying this though.. your smart enough to know what an opinion means.. what you said about this movie is one
Michael Myers Fan with a few exceptions, usually when a movie that already looks like a cheap pile of shit from the trailer, and then gets called so by multiple reviews (in this case, every review out right now) chances are its a bad movie. these are probably the stupidest horror movie characters in recent times. makes it impossible to give a fuck about any of them dying along with their bad acting, which destroys any amount of possible terror. the flat story doesnt help at all either. this movie is nothing but a campy, lazy, 1980’s B movie throwback. id expect a michael myers fan to have higher standards for horror movies and what scary really is
Oh it will. It's the most shittiest movie on the planet. Worse than _Suicide Squad_ and _The Open House_ combined. All the positive coments were probably left by the cast crue.

1:21 “ya know maybe staying home under the covers for a few months wouldn’t be a bad idea”
The trailer was really well edited imo! :)
I just came back from the cinema and watched it, very good I recommend it to anyone who has not watched it yet
Looks good
RohanKnuckles Ugandan No it doesn’t...
RohanKnuckles Ugandan you’re assuming that it’s trash.. and it seems more of a slasher but who knows... and you might think it’s trash but it’s an opinion and it doesn’t make it true though.. everyone is different
Michael Myers Fan this shit does look like a comedy horror, how do you find anything even remotely scary in this trailer. i said a week ago that this looks absolutely horrible, and the reviews are starting to prove my statement
strictly Funny thing is you can't speak for everyone.. and reviews are nothing.. someone can say it's a horrible movie next thing you know someone loves it.. But why am i saying this though.. your smart enough to know what an opinion means.. what you said about this movie is one
Michael Myers Fan with a few exceptions, usually when a movie that already looks like a cheap pile of shit from the trailer, and then gets called so by multiple reviews (in this case, every review out right now) chances are its a bad movie. these are probably the stupidest horror movie characters in recent times. makes it impossible to give a fuck about any of them dying along with their bad acting, which destroys any amount of possible terror. the flat story doesnt help at all either. this movie is nothing but a campy, lazy, 1980’s B movie throwback. id expect a michael myers fan to have higher standards for horror movies and what scary really is
Dude this movie left us on a cliff hanger and every time I listen to that song it gives me memories of the movie😂
Shame because "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" is quite a good song too 😂
Perfect song to use!!!
Everyone is leaving promising comments but why do I feel like this will be disappointing...
Miseoula It's a real big letdown honestly.
Don't waste your time!
Oh it will. It's the most shittiest movie on the planet. Worse than _Suicide Squad_ and _The Open House_ combined. All the positive coments were probably left by the cast crue.
Absolutely disagree with these replies. I thought the movie was great, I’d give it a 9/10
@@lAmWrath how was it shitty ?
I actually liked this movie 9.5/10
The trailer is just perfect,
Imma watch it.
I watched this on Netflix, Legit thriller.
Yep, loved it too. But it's not on Netflix anymore
@@g9900-n9c I just checked it now it's still there.
@@Angie-Magi-ATIN-Army weird. For me it isn't on now. Must just be my Netflix. Oh well.
@@g9900-n9c Yeah perhaps it depends in the country.
Is this a good movie?
So from the trailer we know the girl will be the final one left alive.
Gary saw it premiere night , & actually both kids survive (barely)
