Unfortunately, the franchise has been so badly mismanaged in it's 30+ year history. The original trilogy was between 1992 and 1995, then 6 years absence before the 2001 reboot, which should've gotten a sequel but was cancelled. Which then led to another 7 year hiatus, before another reboot in 2008, which was the most expensive game in the series and a flop, which led to another 7 year absence which resulted in the horrible 2015 Left 4 Dead Clone. The 2024 remake / reimagining was the best game in series since both the 2001 reboot and 1992 original, but it was too little too late, and much of the fanbase had long since gone, not to mention the game itself was horribly managed and marketed as well. The series may very much be dead at this point.

They shouldve remake the new nightmare into a 3rd person over the shoulders ... After coming from the covid era and now things are getting back to normal its natural to have some lay offs but a studio shutting down after putting a game that dont do well this was happening since the start of video games so nothing new over there

Yeah, unfortunately capitalism works really well unless you lose morals. We are now more at oligarchy is where we’re getting closer to corporate America. And instance when your companies massively failing, should you be getting massive bonuses especially if you’re the lead the CEO or any of the higher ups. If you’re developers knockout a bunch of awesome games and you supported them that year I got no issue with them making you know millions of dollars bonus. But not when you’re doing layoffs.
It's not just bad morals from Top management. The games industry is bloated and consumers are fatigued. It's going to get a harder, they saw a huge boost during the (cimednap 2020) that was unsustainable when people stopped staying indoors.
You can tell why this studio closed down. Alone in the Dark doesn't have enough pull with this generation of gamers and the Gen X fans of this game do not identify with this reboot.

Criticizing capitalism for this is crazy. If the game is trash and it doesn't sell, how will you expect the studio to keep moving forward in the negative? Sure, bonuses for CEOs are ridiculous. The problem lies on business people who don't know anything about gaming in charge of gaming.

It was a smaller studio effort, and it shows. The game still has wonderful atmosphere, and smart callbacks to the original. I think it will earn "hidden gem" status in the coming years.

Meh, don’t care. If you release garbage games. This is what happens. It’s not like it the Hi-Fi Rush studio who actually won awards and got shut down. It’s a shitty studio that put out shitty games.
In YOUR opinion, it's easy to criticize that which you don't understand. To these people they don't care about success persay they make back money by closing studios(good or bad)cutting jobs is the fastest way to boost numbers for a quarter, this is disgraceful(these are people's lives)

I bought it day one on Series X. Played through it twice. Could have used more refinement, though I genuinely enjoyed the experience.
Wait why should top executives make so much? No they shouldn't. $1 million is more than enough for what they do. $5 million tops.
