Thanks for this video. I've sent it to some clients. And a BIG thanks for pointing out the proper use of headings and explaining hierarchy. In looking for a quick overview of the block editor, I found several that pointed out to use heading markup to create bigger/smaller headings. WRONG! Also thanks for remarking on accessibility. covered a fair amount, thanks. what about fonts? when i go to typograpahy, theres only 2 fonts available, i figure i must be doing something wrong as i've never seen only 2 fonts being available to an editor. i'll keep lookin but this is my 4th video on block text editing and still havent seen the topic covered. is block editing making it more difficult to access font changes on the fly?
When it comes to fonts, it is more likely controlled by your theme, as it attempts to set standard fonts to use across the website. If you use something like the Divi Builder or Elementor I think you can pick fonts but otherwise it's not really available unless through your theme customizer settings typically.
Hey, thank you for this tutorial. There's one problem that's causing me a lot of frustration and making me want to pull my hair out. Could you please help me with it? The problem is that the block on the left side is in widescreen mode, with no space on either the left or right sides. It used to have space before, but I'm not sure what I updated that caused it to become completely wide. On the right side of the block, there's no issue because I have the option to edit the blocks there.
Oh man, ive never had that issue before sorry. However, you may be bale add the plugin 'Health Check & Troubleshooting', it has a troubleshooting mode you can activate which deactivates all plugins just for you (no public change).and you can eeactivate everything one by one to see if theres a plugin conflict. Hopefully its something that simple
Is there any way to change the space between paragraphs? Or the space between blocks like a heading and a paragraph? I couldn't get anything to work. I was working on a column and the heading was so far away from the paragraph it didn't appear to have any relationship to the paragraph.
The way I do it is with CSS code unfortunately. I don't have the code off the top of my head and it does depend on your themes code. No simple way sorry, do you do any CSS by chance?
I am looking for a testimonial slider with one per slide, can this be done with Block Editor or do I need a plugin?
I'd say a plugin, I don't know which id recommend, but a normal slider plugin can do testimonials easily enough. I use the divi theme which has a slider module included

I'm not really interested in upgrading. How can I revert to the previous editor. I read that it's possible, but It won't let me install the plugin. For a start, why won't the floating toolbar star on the page instead of scrolling off?
I wonder why the plugin doesn't work.. that's the only way I know how, but some plugins also have the ability to switch back to the older editor, maybe try searching in the plugin repository
Confusing, so, for gutenberg to work do you have to have a theme first?
Gutenberg is standard on WordPress across all themes. But to answer your question, you need a theme for WordPress to work at all publicly, not just the editor.
