Although Vince is a far, FAR better guitar player than Glenn ever wished he could be, the fact remains that no one could ever replace Mr. Glenn Frey, not even his son Deacon. It is said that Henley & Frey wrote 80 or 90% of the band's tunes, but Don Felder wrote the music to the Eagles' biggest hit Hotel California (before they fired him). The rumour says that Henley is "controlling" the band ---> of course he is and I don't blame him one bit, as he's the last & sole remaining original member of the Eagles! On that front, Joe Walsh and Don Felder together were the master players and Vince Gill can follow them with ease, that's for dam sure!
Vince Gill performs wonderfully with The Eagles ! He has a beautiful voice, and he is a master on guitar. I've seen them live, twice. I grew up singing and playing MoTown throughout high school, college, and on into my adult life. As much as I love MoTown, I love The Eagles music as well. In 1975 I performed in Angle Oak, and we recorded an album in Columbus, Ohio. that Pure Prairie used to record the album with the song Amie. Vince Gill was the lead singer of Pure Prairie League. Our group , Angle Oak, had been assembled by Harold Fogle, Country Music Hall of Fame. Harold had played the steel guitar on the song Amie, so he knew Vince Gill. Our album Making Plans is scheduled to be re-released Nov. 4, 2024. If I'm lucky, I might get to meet Vince Gill yet !
Just to clarify - Craig Fuller was the lead singer on the "real" Aimee. Vince didn't join PPL until 1979. He recorded a new version of Aimee for their greatest hits album, although Aimee was really their only hit.
@@realrussclarke That's right, I forgot about that song because it was so different; it was a "record company" song to suck up to the powers that be. Just like what they did to Poco, Firerfall and many other bands that once had real soul but couldn't keep it up on their own.
I am a super fan of Vince Gill and since i play guitar i admire him as a singer and fantastic guitarist and song writer. Loved the stuff he did with Patty Loveless as well Hes a multi talented man
I have a nephew that used to work with Don Henley on his solo projects. I asked him once what Henley was like. His response shocked me when he said he was the most miserable person he had ever met.
Must be all that money that makes him miserable ? Maybe Vince and Amy need to invite him over for dinner, and share the gospel with him ? 😁 He must be living proof that money, success, and even family don't guarantee happiness.
Vince Gill would be a welcome addition to any musical endeavor. His voice is flawless and His addition would be a welcome addition to any musical endeavor.
I thought Glenn Fry’s son was brought in to replace Glen himself. Hell, he looks like him and sounds like him. On the other hand, I don’t think Vince Gill considers himself an Eagle either and never claimed to be.

I’ve seen the Eagles many times in concert, from 2003 to earlier this year (2024). The earlier Eagles were better and still had some hunger (lord knows I’m sure it was nothing like seeing them in the 70s). Over time and with the death of Glenn Frey, the band only restarted “because Deacon Frey was willing to “give us permission”…(Henley’s words). Only problem, Deacon Frey was not quite ready. So on comes Vince Gill. Vince Gill is a terrific singer and guitarist. In a couple of concerts, the Eagles played some of Gill’s songs, but it didn’t last. He basically ended up complying with Henley’s “note by note, step by step perfectionism”…and Gill became just another player (albeit talented). I still enjoy seeing them as does everyone I’ve ever brought over the years. But the concerts now feel like carbon copies. Full credit to Henley and Frey for writing the great songs (not discounting Don Felder, Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon, JD Souther or Jack Tempchin…or Tim Schmidt or, of course, Joe Walsh ) that have stood the test of time. Of course, Deacon Frey can walk away, as can Vince Gill…but for the other guys it would not be so easy.

The Eagles have always been a toxic band, even though extremely talented and at the right place at the right time, their fatal flaw seems to have been greed. With story fights about pay cuts to other members. And Wanting more more more. I I’ve also heard there is a huge staff patrolling the Internet for any small tiny clip of Eagles music that doesn’t pay royalties, even their music, not even played by them, but played by somebody else teaching it. I find that absurd . Vince Gill is the opposite of that. He is humble and never thinks he is too good or doesn’t have enough.. perhaps he is the balance that these guys always needed. I have been playing guitar for 50 years and Vince Gill is near the top in skills as evidenced by his being chosen for the crossroads festival by Eric Clapton every year for a decade. His harmonies are every bit as good as his predecessor in the Eagles and I would say he has much more range. His songwriting skills are second to none. I admire him more, knowing what he has gone through, I knew he would face significant egocentricity joining the Eagles, especially from Don Henley who is now is rumored to be using pitch correction on his vocals during the shows, which makes me sad. But I will give respect to Henley for reaching out and making Vince feel at home and allowing him to stretch his wings and be an eagle.. .. much of what we hear is rumor and I will most definitely say my opinion is probably worthless because I don’t know the real facts about history of the Eagles

Gill has to be disappointed that Don Henley is singing to tracks. Henley won't allow videos or photos of him singing because his is not singing. Henley has been exposed ... he sings to recordings of his voice, basically karaoke.
I'm all for adding someone to keep the band going, unlike when the doors folding with the loss of Jim Morrison. I had hoped they would have tried to replace him with Eric Burden and I would like to have seen Julian Lennon play with the Beatles.
I saw the Eagles in 1976 in the Richfield Coliseum that is when they were in their prime . They are a group of old men cover band of their own original work.
Saw the original 4 eagles many years ago and the new version twice in the last two years. They still sound almost identical to the records. Vince Gill is probably the ONLY guy out there who could step into Glenn Fry's shoes, and as a pure musician, he may even be a slight upgrade (not talking about songwriting, that’s really not Germaine to the band now.) One gripe about this video-you guys must get paid by the minute. It astounded me how many different ways you found to say the same thing in order to advance the story at a snail's pace.

Don Henley thinks he is protecting The Eagles legacy by keeping The Eagles music off of the internet/social media etc. Don doesn’t know that he is making their music passe. The kids get their music from many different platforms, and they are not interested in buying CDs. The kids today are not listening to The Eagles-probably don’t know anything about them. I was their target demographic, but I listen to music in places where The Eagles are not played.
Sadly, Vince made a mistake in joining the Eagles. His own legacy is forever diluted and diminished. A better move for the Eagles would have been to bring in Jackson Browne.
But then Jackson's own legacy would be forever diluted and diminished. A better choice would be for them all to retire to solo careers, or in Henley's case, to just stay gone forever.
I don't think he's an Eagle either but how can the band continue, how should the band continue? There's no way they can be the same thing they were for the last 40 years without Glen. Vince has said he's not trying to replace Glen but trying to keep the music alive - I think that's what he has done without trying to imitate Glen. Change in this world is the only constant and this is a classic example. You don't have to like it but you can get used to it.
It is just a matter of timing: over the years the Eagles had many band member changes. Should he have joined years ago when Glen was still alive, everyone would have said that he was an Eagle. It’s only because he was so bold to step into Glen’s shoes, he is now criticized by many for not being an Eagle. His only goal was though to keep the music alive for all of us to enjoy it a little while longer with as many “original” band members as possible. But tell me, other than Don Henley, who do you consider a real Eagle? Because even the likes of Joe and Tim joined much later.
We can't "replace" Glenn Frey. We can only find another Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter who can justify the legacy of such a terrific group: THE EAGLES! Show biz is more difficult than we suspect. Peace. * Cav *
As soon as I turned it on, I turned it off, tiring of these computerized/AI/Whatever talkers. The information may (or may not) be good, but I can't stand listening to these types of voices, male or female.
Same here - although I listened long enough to wonder how this robot knew what Vince was thinking. Maybe AI is now capable of reading minds? SO irritating!
The Eagles have seriously fallen from grace just recently as they have been found to be faking their vocals and actually mouthing to pre recorded songs. Not good!
Sorry but without Don Felder, Randy Meisner, and Glenn Frey there is no Eagles! Sad because Timothy B Schmidt and Joe Walsh are awesome performers! Henley is just a "dime a dozen" drummer.
When Meisner left the band that was the end of the famous Eagle's Harmonies. He was "The Voice" that made them distinctive. Timothy just doesn't have that edge. Each new member makes them less & less the Eagles who recorded Take It Easy and that's the only thing they did that matters.

"Vince" didn't break any silence... some AI voice did all the talking. No subscription here!
1% "Likes" ought to tell you something.
Vince did not need the Eagles or the headache
I would avoid Henley like the plague.
LOL Vince never said a word but Vince said a lot. 😀
When did he join as I thought they were done in the early 80's..
Around 2018. L.A Forum concert tour, announced he was ,"The 61 year old new guy."
I thought it be great him and Joe shredding it !! The fans that knew it wouldn't be the same ..
I say to them......
NO SHEEEEYITT ?? !! . LOL.
I thought that you were going to say he got pissed because Henley is lip syncing lots of his vocals. They are their own cover band now .
Why not JD Souther? He wrote half the songs...
Wow... How many ways can you say the same things for 17 minutes.?.. watch and exspirience..
I was their target demographic, but I listen to music in places where The Eagles are not played.
no music at all and not a word from anyone but the narrator. Skip it...
Why didn’t Don Felder come back? That would be awesome.
Money ?
Sadly, Vince made a mistake in joining the Eagles. His own legacy is forever diluted and diminished. A better move for the Eagles would have been to bring in Jackson Browne.
But then Jackson's own legacy would be forever diluted and diminished. A better choice would be for them all to retire to solo careers, or in Henley's case, to just stay gone forever.
Nothing about this man has been deluted in or diminished. What are you, crazy?
Good idea Jackson Browne. He's got that CA. sound. Good idea. He probably wouldn't be willing to work with them
@@wyattdoodat..100%
@@davidwatts1906.
He's a solo artist. Yes it would take away from hearing just him. So yes diluted.
I liked the Eagles a lot! But its 2024. Let it go LOL
They should have Retired When Glen Passed .
oh my god! that guy repeat himself over and over again and again
Henley is the only original Eagle in the band...Joe Walsh is second longest.
You say listen and then Vince Gill never says anything during the video.
Solo? Pure Prarie League?
I like Vince Gill but he is not an Eagle ...................................
i don't care for his voice, a nice guy though.
Agreed @daviddunn773
Well the fact is, he is an Eagle whether you like it or not.
Vince was not lead singer of PPL. It was the far better singer, Craig Fuller.
We can't "replace" Glenn Frey. We can only find another Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter who can justify the legacy of such a terrific group: THE EAGLES! Show biz is more difficult than we suspect. Peace. * Cav *
You know that whoever posted that video doesn’t know anything about music. The band is called EAGLES period. Not “the” Eagles. Get it right.
He was no Craig Fuller either!
This narrator completely ruins the point..., I'm sick of his beating around the bush bullshit.
So, where's the music that illustrates what the announcer is saying? This wasa waist of time.
@@Polyphemus47 Amazing, these AI robots. LOL
The Eagles have seriously fallen from grace just recently as they have been found to be faking their vocals and actually mouthing to pre recorded songs. Not good!
This narrative is boring. Could have been half as long to say the same thing.
Uhhh Vince Gill is with the Eagles????
Oh gee! How repetitive can someone be? Not even half way through and I’m ready to leave. Why? Just tell us why and focus on the work.
I would never pay to see Henley especially now in his advanced age completely overrated…and not a nice person……
The Lipsyngles.
And?
Weren't the Eagles some 80s pop band that almost rocked in the 70s? Vince who?
Zs
Sorry but without Don Felder, Randy Meisner, and Glenn Frey there is no Eagles! Sad because Timothy B Schmidt and Joe Walsh are awesome performers! Henley is just a "dime a dozen" drummer.
When Meisner left the band that was the end of the famous Eagle's Harmonies. He was "The Voice" that made them distinctive. Timothy just doesn't have that edge. Each new member makes them less & less the Eagles who recorded Take It Easy and that's the only thing they did that matters.
