    Ugh that was a tough one ... like really tough.. my heart felt that... but so important to share to continue to spread awareness ❤️ it’s tough for me as an outsider/teacher to see this when my students go through this I can’t even begin to imagine how it feels as a parent to almost feel helpless ... but both of you David and Stacey are perfect examples of what is needed in times like this ❤️ sending love and positive vibes for a more regulated start to the week.

    • @TheWeeFamily

      Helpless is a very accurate description. We know she’s been doing so well lately, but times like these can still happen and we wanted to share that too (just not the actual meltdown of course). We have come pretty far navigating her meltdowns via experience, it hasn’t always been so pretty. ❤️ so far today was good!!

    Staying calm and patience is always the best thing to do, because when you are in a meltdown you can't take anything more, and something small can make it worse. I always see our mind as a old computer that sometimes crashes because the amount of tasks we where given where to much our system can handle. When your computers crashes and you keep pushing buttons it only gets worse.sometimes you need to let it crash and step away from it, and eventually it will stop. After it stoped you can see what caused it to crash and how can be fixed ( I hope I explained it well, meltdowns are hard to explain to people who don't have them)

    • @TheWeeFamily
      @TheWeeFamily  4 года назад +1

      This is an older video but we have learned that interactions of any kind can just amplify things so we give her space and limit all stimulating things including sounds, lights and all that. She hadn’t had meltdowns in a while thankfully and she’s gotten better at self regulating 🙂

    Poor Braylee. I'm glad to see her trying to self-regulate. I can only imagine how difficult it must be when you watch your beloved daughter go through this. Being positive isn't easy here, and I don't see anything wrong with being negative just for a moment out of concern. I will say, however, that I give you kudose for focusing on the positive over all, and I can tell Braylee appreciates it. We're all here supporting you. :)

    I have autism too, and having these channels ( Fathering Autism being another such channel) is a Great boost to the knowledge & Acceptance cause, the more true to life, and positive interaction videos all of you post, the better acquainted society is with us and how we are, the more accepting a society, the more peaceful it's people are to each other, and is what we all yearn for, if not for our lifetime, then for all those that follow us.

    • @TheWeeFamily
      @TheWeeFamily  4 года назад

    @Kaidh9080 5 лет назад +2

    The meltdowns are the worst to experience you can't do anything but be in their presence and let them have th it moment and try try to not over react is the hardest to do when dealing with a child with autism. But bless their hearts cause they are the most loving and caring creatures God has ever created on this Earth. Their minds are so vast and outrageous that having a conversation with them for an hour or two will change your idea of life for good. I love working with them they are awesome people real diamonds in the rough. This little one is gonna be so amazing I can't wait to see her grow and become who she is meant to be thanks for showing us this amazing moment guys ❤️🙌

    Days like this are so tough. It’s so hard to see her so sad. Kenzlee often misses days of school because she has days like this as well, which we also only show glimpses. Being calm and patient is hard but so necessary. We have had a day like yours today and it’s exhausting. You two make a great team. 💙

    • @TheWeeFamily
      @TheWeeFamily  5 лет назад +1

      Braylees days like this are usually caused by the lack of school. So we are hoping the weather holds out at least enough that she doesn’t miss more school from closures. It can be hard to stay patient but through trial and error we found it’s the best method for her meltdowns. Thanks! I couldn’t imagine doing it not as a team. Getting dressed in anything other than a disney princess dress would send her into a full on meltdown where she would throw herself on the ground, screaming kicking, hitting her head (scared me so bad). I had to physically pick her up n carry her out of the house. We were late all the time. I love how u guys deal with it. You're awesome. I love Carlos. He looks like my dog's mommy. His name is Snickers n he's a chihuahua/ chow mix (crazy right). The poor mom (the chihuahua) didn't make it through the childbirth, probably because she was so small n the puppies were too big. We adopted him from the people. We picked him out at 3 weeks n brought him home at 6 weeks.

    I've learned through the years, working as a special needs para educator (still learning) that children with autism are very anxious and the more relaxed I am the better outcome my students have.

    Maybe structured routing on home days would help her stay regulated. Does she understand visuals if you were to show her where she is going or what will happen next? If she is in speech they might be using a visual schedule with her that could be carried over to home. Good on you for letting her stim and do what she needs to to calm down. I can see how much you love her.

      Today has gotten better! And thank you 🙂
      When she gets in an actual meltdown, which wasn’t shown, we take her to a room with lights off, no sounds and really don’t talk or try to interact too much but stay with her and make sure she stays safe and give her the time to calm down.

    My daughter is 28 months and is autistic. We don’t have the official diagnosis as of yet as uk waiting lists are long but paediatrician agrees with me. It’s your typical signs hand flapping, no eye contact, doesn’t understand her name, no pointing etc etc. My daughter talks the same as your daughter was nice to hear someone who talks similar like in a sing song way. My daughter acts like this where basically she cries and screams all day and I don’t know if she’s being w toddler or this is autism meltdowns. I never know what’s wrong and they normally come out of nowhere. Or if I take something off her etc. It’s frustrating and I get such a tension head ache. I feel for you it’s the hardest thing in the world. For you and them.

    • @TheWeeFamily
      @TheWeeFamily  5 лет назад

      Braylee has days where she is definitely more emotional I guess we call it. Where everything is upsetting or she whines/cries on and off all day. I’m sure it’s so frustrating for them to not be able to communicate what’s bothering them. We have also found that a lot of Braylee’s struggles come from sensory issues as well so that can definitely contribute.

      We imagine that she must feel so frustrated.
      She really likes to be in solitude/not interacted during the meltdowns but loves those things after she starts to calm down.

    • @seifalah0626
      @seifalah0626 5 лет назад

      @@TheWeeFamily of course. I don't mean to shame or say you're doing something wrong. When she's upset let her calm down.
      With any situation it's best to try and address early. If she's getting anxious from putting her shoes on offer lots of praise and encouragement so she won't perseverate so much on it being a bad thing.
      It's those pre-meltdown times that are truly ideal to try and catch ;)
