- New World Progression has changed! In this video you'll learn how to reach 700 gear score in New World Expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth. The new level cap is going to be 65 with the gear score increasing to 700. Umbral shards and expertise are being removed, and new systems are replacing the old.

I honestly quit the game because of the expertise system, it was incredibly frustrating to have to grind it out, let alone if you bought a high level piece of gear off the auction house and its capped at a low level because of the expertise. the way you explained everything clearly makes it sound like the system in general is much better now.
Finally, a good video explaining very well the new system. I think the changes are very good. I think now all activities are more balanced between them as well the rewards. I think the removal of umbral shards is a good change, and the new progression system looks more interesting and affordable for every kind of player.

Day 1 of expansion and I’m ending at 6 700GS items and a total GS of 698! I am a returning player (haven’t played since.. well I only played 400 hours at launch.) so yeah it feels GREAT being able to finally be high GS and I did an M1 of the new dungeon.

for crafters, what happened to golden scarab+timeless shard crafts for 2 perkers? Do i have to pay 5.000gold for chromatic seal for every gamble attemp?

Seems like they did a good job spreading valuable drops in PVE. Chest runs, farming names, and dungeons are all sources of some good stuff. Hopefully PVP players are rewarded as well on the track and influence races. The more people that show up for the open world pvp the more fun it will be.
Thanks! Are resistances still in? Like you were able to use the Fire staff only in some dungeons for example because some mobs would be resistant to it, or something along those lines? I always found it a bit annoying that I couldn't run my chosen loadout because of that.
Thanks for watching! All the resistances have been removed. So mobs are not resistant to damage types any longer, but they are still weak to certain damage types

what about crafting with materia? that empress zhou stuff looks good tbh, so if i get materia, does it craft at 700? im not on about drops but when we take the mutated materia. just a few m3s and we will have the stuff so this seems really important to know 650-700 range seems like it only applies to drops, not crafting. just curious if you know?
I didn’t check materia crafting on the ptr 😩 will be one of the first things I check on live now though! Very interesting thought for sure.

The old materia is still used to craft expedition drops that cap at 625. There is now dense material that is also expedition specific that can be used to craft the new named stuff that will be 700, those are crafted in the gypsum forge. Options won’t show up on the list until you have some dense materia in inv or storage.

Yeah. They said it was going to be 650+ names items but it’s actually 626+ named items. There’s also some named expedition items that can be upgraded and some that can’t. Im not sure why that is tbh. Trying to figure it out lol.

I have a question though, I hope I dont sound too stupid. My expertise lvl is max 540. Should I use my gypsum to increase that expertise or should I save the gypsum and use on other things after the expansion?
Thanks for watching! Not stupid at all! Don’t use your gypsum for expertise bumps now. It won’t benefit you any because expertise is going away. Save all your orbs until after the patch. They will be used in a lot of crafting recipes.

For any caches, chests or gypsum casts we may have saved, can we be opening those right away for chances at 700? or do we need to do a bit of playing first to get drops and raise our GS to fully maximize any rewards we open
Your GS shouldn't matter when opening crates. But your currently equipped type of gear, might.

When you were talking about upgrading named items at the gypsom kiln you were showing us artifacts...im so confused. Will the named items show up there too? I may be misunderstanding

Almost about to come back, but this upgrade system makes it pointless to come back for the crafting. That sucks for all the crafters that stayed around. Waiting for the high gs.

So does this mean that all my gear will level up with me regardless of what I'm using? Like if I have a 600gs greatsword will life staffs drop at 600gs as well even if I don't use them much?
The level of drop will depend on whatever area you are in on the map.
In theory, a gearscore 625 guy could go to M3 and get 700 gear right? AKA a boost. Im not suggesting this idea, but technically they could? Just wondering if theres any gatekeeping. aka crafters may craft 700 gear then want to go into M3 and skip m1,2. Just theorising I have 3 60s and they all might do the journey differently
You still have to unlock you codex like you did before, but if you were invited to an M3, then I’m sure you could. You would probably get yourself and your group 1 shot by all the mobs though 😂
As someone with all of the crafting trophies, this is kind of a bummer no? I can no longer craft a bis armor set or weapon?

If anything it's now easier for you to craft bis, since you can guarantee 700 craft, rather than gamble on 595 - 600

Would love to know what perks to chase for heals, tank, and dps now witj the removal of ward and bane. I know as i tank i always looked for ward, refreshing ward and elemental/physical aversion. Opens up a lot of possibilities now without ward now
they did not add a lot of armor perks, its just easier to get decent gear.
I'm sad about the ref ward removal, but I also may of found a way to get it with 700gs. Expensive af tho.
I think this video is out of date. Now you need an item that cost 5000 gold and you need 3 of them. That’s in addition to the matrix that cost 10k or more gold. It’s crazy!

lol i will take my time to enjoy the S3 i wont rush it i do not want to be part of the people complaining later saying it was not enough xD first thing i will do is to get my horse then farms for gear and mats until i get my GS to 700 then wait until some perks and artifact get nerf so i can craft my own gear with the right perks so i wont waste mats on crafting my gear then perks get nerf lol maybe in 4 months or 6 of contents if i dnt rush as other players does then cry abt lol

AGS still doing the same mistake for 2 years now most be hard for a streamer to recommend a game you have 5 serv 2500 cap and up to 3000 in q 10 hours so 6k player are gonna get along on a 2500 cap serv and no way to move, asking my self why they did not add serv few weeks back and let us pre order dlc earler so they knew how many players and serv they neaded to avoid this wonder how many like me 6k hour players that delay ore avoid dlc because of this. This is not first update they do last 2 years and end up with same result don´t they ever learn by their mistakes.
So sad about the ward, as a face tank refreshing ward build for pve I'm nor nurffed. No more spamming defenders resolve every 2 seconds for a 10% hp heal

As far as I know crafting gives you a set gear score now and not a range
How will old luck gear work or will there be new luck gear?
IIRC the luck is amount is capped at what it is at 625 gear score. So you won’t be able to increase luck amount with gear past what we already have
So your old luck gear is worth keeping and not salvage

nice so I grinded expertise for nothing, my 30k umbrals are worthless, all my ward and bane gear sets are opsolete... which sucks, that was my favorite feature and now everybody's gonna be running the same gear. Seems like a hail merry attempt for player retention. My work for a few months but this game officially sold out all of it's fun aspects to get something more generic... goodbye new world...

Then you need a better editor. There were some errors based on outdated info that I and others have noticed in our return in the last few weeks.
Pvp is ass everyone is running meta builds. Iv grinding everyday to learn that there’s a million things I gotta do to even upgrade gear. I come from WoW where there is grind ofc. But holy shit the amount of shit you gotta do in new world is lame.

I think this should do the opposite tbh. It should help people get geared a whole lot easier than before with the removal of ward / bane, etc.
Nah, doing away with the umbral grind is great for casuals. Shouldn't take too long to hit 700 and you then run dungeons for drops.
No way, I'm a casual player who runs after work and can never find M10 groups to take me without meta builds even tho I have full ward 625.
really dumb that you can get max gear score from M1. The main problem with this game is there is no incentive to do higher level stuff, you can craft the same gear as the highest level raider/pvper. In short, it's too easy to get the best gear. It leaves us with nothing to strive for. Which is why this game is dying 😕
it gives the opportunity to try out multiple builds and min max them. grinding that way creates endless goals. blows my mind seing people play the same build for years and call it gaming.
It depends entirely on the probability. If it's 1% chance for a random 700, with random perks, that's not a problem whatsoever. Gear score really doesn't matter, and has never truly mattered, perks do. So getting more legendaries reliably in m3, is well worth it.
Also keep in mind, guaranteed 700 GS bis named items, only drop in m2 / m3, depending on the set.
