- Dr Melanie Kitongo shares her story and inspires us future International agency global health aspirants like me.. By the time we had this conversation i wasnt all that interested myself but actually i am going to rewatch while taking nnotes this time. Let me know below what you're takehome message is 😄
"The system makes you feel helpless" resonates with me. It is actually how I am feeling now. Thank you Melanie for sharing and motivating us
Is that in Uganda? even over here the system feels likr its breaking
Glad to have found your page Dr.Cissy! This is a helpful conversation. There's quite a lot to contemplate for me as an intern pharmacist right now.
you're welcome :-)
Wow!.. Thank you Cissy and Melanie. Always delighted to listen in..
Thank you.. now youu next.. when are you coming on the channel ? we want to hear your story
Thank you for bringing Melanie on your channel ❤
Thanks to Melanie for agreeing to come 😄
Thanks Cissy and Melanie! I am not a doctor but this conversation was so relatable since I am at a crossroad in my engineering career. A lot of confusion, with a sprinkle of imposter syndrome. This has helped! Thanks ladies!
ah.. a crossroad moment.. the more i talk to people the more it sounds more of the norm to have such moments than not.. i cant imagine a linear career with no moments of wondering which way to go (especially if you have to decide yourself and not just doing what everyone else says)
Very true! I also understand the part of not having a typical or mainstream path in a career and feeling some inadequacy from not practicing your profession the way most people do or forgetting those core things. I have slowly realised someone has to play the “atypical” roles too and if it works for me, why not?! 🤷🏾♀️
exactly its not easy being special😍😂 it would be easier to just do whatever is expected but that's not what's on your heart.. i saw a quote earlier saying whatever can be imagined is possible.. so whatever it is in your mind.. is definitely possbile.. dream big 😄@@psnk490
I definitely will! Thanks so much! I love your content! It is so relatable and realistic!
Thanks for the kind words PSNK.. what's your actual name? @@psnk490
Thank you ladies for the wonderful video. In Zambia, there is this competition to do MPH, so doctors are doing both simultaneously, you do your Mmed speciality of choice, then enroll for an online MPH, its quite affordable.
Ah so then you don't have to choose.. nice 😄
around how much is university tuition for an MpH in zambia?
Let's just say less than 2500 dollars entire programme.
Good conversation Melanie and Cissy. 😊
Thanks Hilda😄
Thank you Cissy and Melanie for the conversation.
Thanks Public health specialist Bridget.. you should come on and tell us your story too 🙂
@@drcissyatwine haha
Your complexion is soo beautiful Melanie, I would pay to get the extra melanin😊
Right! i was trying to say that in the video but my audio got cut off.. her skin is so beautiful i even asked for skin care tips that are not translating for me 🤣 so its probably her naturally good skin 😄
Very insightful!
Aaw thanks Emily😄 what was your take home message?
2 dear friends of mine💕 Thanks for sharing
Ellie 😍😍
Our public health lecturer always boasted saying, public health specialists close the tap, while the rest of Dr's mop the floor😂😂 That's a simple way of defining public health.
😂 haha i love that analogy.. it makes sense
Wow!😅
Great conversation!
Thank you😄
I think since in Switzerland, since you are not really on a path to settlement, people are a bit relaxed. In the UK, there is this constant fear of affecting ILR😂😂 people are not soo relaxed.
Hahaha yes but we even have a clear route to ILR which they dont have in switzerland.. thats one pro for starting out in the UK
Melanie what about music in the future plans? I enjoyed your singing in band here back home
She will hopefully come and tell us in the comments if she gets a chance.. i did enjoy her singing too and hope she can rekindle it for the sake of us her fans as well as for herself 😄
I'm a medical doctor and I can relate with this.
I like your comment on we are here to collect our things 😅
haha i also heard it elsewhere😂
Switzerland is a dream destination ❤I love the expatriate part😂😂 the term immigrants kind of gets on my nerves.
haha expatriate does sound more appealing
Loool don't even ask me about OBS/GYN , Dermatology, all things HIV😶
haha and my hopes were in you to be the ones who know everything.. so really we should all be happy to know more of what we're dealing with.. no need to know everything
