Hey guys, for some reason the audio on this video is much quieter than normal... Not really sure why but I'll fix it for next video. Let me know if you have any questions about Orianna or mid lane!
Literally just decided to pick up Ori as a blind pick for this season, you read my mind! These guides have been insanely informative so far, I’m sure this will be no different. Thanks!
I've been so impressed with the thorough construction and execution of the video. An absolute masterpiece! Could you do a Ryze guide next perhaps? Keep up the fantastic content Shok!
im so glad i found your channel, i was actually just looking for more orianna content cause i watched all of curtis videos, but from now on im also watching all your videos
Important trick: You can also q flash when your opponent is in lethal. What I mean is input q (ori will move now to get in q range), and then flash so the q comes out immediately (flash gets you inside the range)
I like that you explain why the specific champ needs, for example, scorch damage. You don't say "scorch for poke" you say "scorch for poke and here's why orianna needs it"
Great video. I had a hard time playing ori effectively so I got this video recommended to me by a friend. The only thing I'm missing in this is how I am supposed to play vs melee champs like akali, zed or qiqi. it's fine untill lv 3 but after that I play like a coward
Basically you just need to buy the right defensive items and try keep the wave frozen on your side since it will make it hard for them to all in. Most assassins have long cooldowns so that gives you a long time to punish them if they make a mistake. I'd recommend checking out this video as well ruclips.net/video/_aoCdhkGaVw/видео.html
Im starting to play orianna and i think its a very good champ, the bad thing is that a lot of people on low elo dont know play with oriannas in her m8´s, thanks for the guide !!
Decided to pick up Ori and this guide helped a lot with understanding her advantages and such. Also noticed that in the section with the champion matchups is that Vex wasn't included and finding out that laning against a good Vex was not a fun experience at least for me but don't know about anyone else T-T
Vex is actually a really good matchup for Orianna, you have a huge advantage over her pre 6 and after 6 as long as you are ahead it should be too hard for you to get one shot. I did a video on Faker's Orianna vs a Vex so I'd recommend checking that out!
Hello there, this was absolutely amazing. You completely told everything I needed to know to start playing oriana and I've been looking for something like this but couldn't get it, so anyways thanks a lot for the great content. Can you do akali next maybe?
@@ShokLeague hi i'm still looking for a champ to play i didn't like veigar that much do you advice orianna for a gold to train mid fundamentals i saw that she isn't doing well this meta is it right ?? if no what champs should i pick please thanks
@@redhawasssim5111 Honestly I think Orianna is pretty good in the meta, scaling in soloq is a lot easier this season because of the TP changes and objective bounties, as well as scuttle crab contesting being less important. I'd say Orianna is A tier, easiest/most OP champ to play is probably Ahri.
Mainly about wave control and mana usage, try keep the wave close to your tower and focus on using your mana really efficiently + itemizing as much mana as you can e.g. tear + sapphire crystal etc
Hello! Wanted to ask why in every tier list i see Orianna is like real bad (B tier mostly) because i really like her, but her being so commonly percepted kinda bad intrigues me. Thx to whoever responds.
I don't think B tier is bad normally, just average. I think in the past few seasons Orianna has been pretty average in solo queue because the game was very much about early game skirmishes like scuttle crabs, bot lane dives etc. But now games are quite a bit slower (scuttles not as important, no TP before 14 minutes, objective bounties) which means Orianna gets to kinda just bully her lane 1v1 and scale up really nicely. I think she's A tier at the moment personally.
Solid video as always. Most of your guides have been on control mages, any chance you could make one on akali ? I’ve been struggling to learn her in high elo.
Hey, with Ori back in meta, would you be able to update this video for patch 13.21? Specifically, build path, runes, and match ups? Thank you for all of your content, it has helped immensely!
I have played Veigar in pro play before, but I don't really want to make a guide on it since Veigarv2 already made a really good guide on him a month ago. I recommend checking that out if you haven't already.
Hey Shok, first of all thank you so much for this guide! I've watched it twice already and it is really helpful! I've got a question tho, at 35:50 you are pushing the Syndra out for a good recall you say (she is low on mana) . I would probably ult that cannon wave as Orianna for a good recall. However you don't do that or contemplate about it, my question is. How bad would it to ult that cannon wave as Orianna, for a good reset?
How do you feel the nerfs to Liandry's and potions have affected this? Do you think cpot is still good enough to be a "neutral" buy or is dorans always better now? Is Liandry's still worth building into tanks?
Liandry still good. Cpot is still the same, but I think time warp is a lot worse now and I'd probably take cosmic or something else instead. I'd say Zhonya change is actually bad, even though it gives more AP you would get more AP out of building damage items normally so you're only building Zhonya for the active, and now that costs 400 more gold to complete.
Hey man, can you give me an advice on which champion I should main to get out of gold. My options are Orianna, Viktor, Syndra and Azir. Thanks in advance!
Vs Qiyana it's very important you rush seekers, you can take either exhaust or barrier or TP if you are really confident. Vs Fizz you probably want a Zhonya's 2nd item, but in lane you build normally other than you could pick up a single null magic mantle if you are really scared of dying. Barrier can help you a lot in this matchup. Only really useful rune is probably cosmic insight for flash cooldown since you don't really need time warp tonic vs these champs.
He's very weak in lane so you can abuse him a lot since he has long CDs, and you can easily kill his voidlings and stop him from pushing at all. In teamfights you are long enough range that you don't really need QSS
I just tried picking up mid and decided on ori but im stuck between banning zed and kat. But youve got kat in the easy tier, for me personally it feels like im playing at max range the entire lane phase otherwise kat jumps onto me and chunks me for 60% forcing me to base or die
You should be able to harass Kat quite a bit in the early game, she won't ever win trades vs you until 6 unless you stand too close to daggers. It's mainly about spacing/positioning in lane.
@@ShokLeague I see, thanks! Any special scenarios where Syndra could be better? When you say counter I imagine when there's an hypercarry on the other team
I really really like your Videos, i can learn a lot from them so thanks a lot for your work. I need your honest opinion: Do you think Orianna is a good solo q pick? imo she lacks with Damage compared to other Midlaner. I had an 19/2 game with Ori and in the end of the game i had 26k gold but not even most dmg and i stomped my lane solo and i did good ults. Dont get me wrong i know you can come high elo with every champ but it feels for me i make life harder on myself if i pick ori instead a other midlane champ. What do you think about my opinion? Thanks alot in advance!
I think she is pretty good in solo q at the moment since games are slower and less chaotic this season compared to past ones. It allows Ori to stomp her lane 1v1 rather than getting caught up in early skirmishes and scale nicely into teamfights. imo Orianna is a solid A tier, so obviously you are making your life harder than if you chose an S tier champion, but I don't really think its a huge difference. Orianna definitely doesn't lack damage, I'd be interested in what order you built items/runes. I think Orianna building Ludens > Seraphs > Rabadon > Void and gathering storm is optional too, does legit crazy amounts of damage at basically all item spikes along that build.
@@ShokLeague thanks a lot for your answer! My build was: Ludens > shadowflame > mejais > rabbadons > void - i didnt buy seraphs and played with scorch, maybe there was the problem. I will try your build. Thanks a lot and keep your work up!
Hi I was gold last season top garen jungle ww, this year I’m not having fun in top and jungle and I switch to mid. I try assassins but it’s feel like are risky, or u snowball or it’s hard play from behind. I started play Annie and I love Annie. I want find another pick to cover Annie, u think Oriana is good for silver elo?
Get one easy mage like Ori/Vex/Ahri/Annie, then one melee champ like Zed/Yone/Sylas and that's probably all you need. If you want a 3rd just choose another you enjoy or another mage that doesn't get banned as much.
Sure! So when you upgrade from Oblivion to Morello, you're paying 2200g for an extra 50 AP and 250 HP as well as the grievous wounds from 40% to 60%. So overall those stats aren't that valuable, we can easily get more AP/DMG from different items like Rabadons or Void. HP while not being useless, isn't as valuable as other stats on Orianna. For Putrifier you're paying 1500g for an extra 25 AP, 20 ability haste and 100% base mana regen. It also allows you to give two people (an ally and yourself) or potentially 3 with aery, 60% grievous wounds. Base mana regen is pretty useless by mid game but overall it's better to have 25 AP and 20 ability haste + grievous on allies for 1500g, than it is to have 50 AP and 250HP for 2200g with grievous only on yourself.
What a great video! I wanted to ask you a question. I have been looking to stablish a champion pool for midlane, but I'm struggling to find a AD champion that fits my playstyle. Currently I like to play control mages like Viktor and Orianna. Do you have any suggestions for an AD pick with a somewhat similar playstyle?
Hmm, I think it kinda depends what part of their playstyle you're talking about? For example I think Lucian lanes pretty similar to a lot of mages and somewhat teamfights like them, but he has a very different role in the game as a splitpusher, no CC, etc. Lucian is very hard to play well though and may not be worth the effort. Lethality Varus mid could be another option (skillshot, poke, ranged champion) as it kinda fits the control mage bill but it's not played much mid because it has some very difficult matchups and has to be used as a counterpick to mages. Jayce/Graves could be other options? They don't really play like control mages though but it's the closest thing I can think of short of an actual adc (Jinx, Ezreal).
Could be your item build? Are you picking up Rabadons/Void 3rd and 4th? That makes a huge difference to your damage. It could also be that you hit your spikes too late because of low farm or high deaths.
Hey Shok, thanks for your guides. Ive been playing Orianna a lot last Season and enjoyed it very much. But with all the item changes I always feel like Im very weak damage wise after Mythic and before 3 Items because I need to buy Seraphs. So is there a possibility to play an Item build more like Syndras with Ludens and Shadowflame or why is it worse than Seraphs on Orianna.
You definitely can buy Ludens Shadowflame if you want a bigger burst, but Ludens Seraphs definitely does more damage on Orianna over an extended fight. I guess it's worse in general because Orianna is less about just bursting one single squishy target down like Syndra and more about DPS during the fight. Shadowflame would be an earlier powerspike though and I don't think it's bad at all, you could try it and see if you find it easier to win with.
Akali/sylas/yone you can bully really hard in the early game but need to be quite careful if you ever push out. Against Yasuo it's a bit harder, be very careful how you use your mana and try just looks for harass with Q spam.
@@MonkeyDLuffy-tb9xy You can pressure him a lot early and make it to where he kinda just has to use abilities to farm pre 6. With your pre6 lead you should be ahead enough to fight him after 6, but at that point it becomes more difficult.
Depends on the champion, generally if you're running comet you need to be able to proc it with a slow/stun to ensure the comet hits, in early game Orianna mainly pokes with Q since QW is too expensive to use everytime makes it hard to guarantee comet hits. A champion like Xerath may always proc comet with W (that also has a slow) which makes it impossible almost to dodge. Also you have to think about if your champion has a way to proc aery on allies like Orianna does with her E (and W speed boost I'm pretty sure).
Swain is easy with phase rush, corki has insane range, idk how u can win this lane, only when he's making mistakes. Yone and Akshan? they arent in the list, these champs are nuts, worse than zed
Yone is easy to bully out with your superior early game, Akshan can be difficult though. Corki is really easy to crush early game, he can start to farm after 6 but even then you still have advantage.

What build for season 13?
Same as before
I struggle to win vs akali, sylas, yasuo, yone. How can I beat them
Akali/sylas/yone you can bully really hard in the early game but need to be quite careful if you ever push out. Against Yasuo it's a bit harder, be very careful how you use your mana and try just looks for harass with Q spam.
Thank you.
How do I Beat velkoz? For me its very hard like vs Azir. Why is it a Skill matchup? Please Tell me how to beat velkoz
@@MonkeyDLuffy-tb9xy You can pressure him a lot early and make it to where he kinda just has to use abilities to farm pre 6. With your pre6 lead you should be ahead enough to fight him after 6, but at that point it becomes more difficult.
Hey, sorry Im an assassin main just recently started playing mages. Why do you not run Comet when trying to win lane over Arey??
Depends on the champion, generally if you're running comet you need to be able to proc it with a slow/stun to ensure the comet hits, in early game Orianna mainly pokes with Q since QW is too expensive to use everytime makes it hard to guarantee comet hits. A champion like Xerath may always proc comet with W (that also has a slow) which makes it impossible almost to dodge. Also you have to think about if your champion has a way to proc aery on allies like Orianna does with her E (and W speed boost I'm pretty sure).
@@ShokLeague Thank you I appreciate it!
Hi, will you do a Tf guide ?
Probably not for a while, there are much better TF's than me so I'd recommend checking out Coach Curtis' TF guide.
@@ShokLeague okay thanks 👍
What if someone just pick irelia to bully me :(
Bayzed
This isn’t meant to be mean. The clicking is driving me crazy lol
Sorry about that :/
Swain is easy with phase rush, corki has insane range, idk how u can win this lane, only when he's making mistakes. Yone and Akshan? they arent in the list, these champs are nuts, worse than zed
Yone is easy to bully out with your superior early game, Akshan can be difficult though. Corki is really easy to crush early game, he can start to farm after 6 but even then you still have advantage.
Ur gorgeous
😳
