Great review Trish! Before 2020, I was very interested in TT, bought couple of products to try it out. I was not impressed. Over-scented, over-priced with skin sensitizing effects. TT lost me during the rise of the BLM movement and their social media posts and magazines portrayals of Tata being a struggling immigrant who transformed the green beauty industry (total BS) and them staying silent during the times when their voice needed to be heard.
Yes! Thank you for mentioning this. I knew there was something along these lines but I couldn’t remember it exactly and didn’t witness it myself so I didn’t want to bring it up. So thank you again. This is another reason to purchase from other brands such as Aster Raine who are black owned, or Live Botanical who financially support social justice organizations, and are also more reasonably priced!
Tata comes from a very very rich Colombian family (and to my knowledge married into a very rich family) so I don’t think there was much struggle financially as an “immigrant “ or otherwise
@ryankasper8475 Yeah, okay... I think you need to reread my comment before you say something. You jump to conclusions too fast. I notated how TH tried to benefit from the height of the BLM movement and insert her "story," which is a far cry from reality. Move along...
As a skincare formulator, and brand owner, Tata Harper is definitely an inspiration for me. She came on the scene when there was very few high end luxury clean beauty brands as a pioneer. I agree, now there are so many amazing brands that have come out with beautiful formulas and innovations, you can find comparable products with lower price points. The mask you mentioned looks like one I’d like to try too. I also love her regenerative cleanser as well.
I would recommend PAI’s rose-hip bio regenerate oil, which is c02 extracted. basically natures retin-a and 1 oz. is $44. It lasts me more than a year. Excellent ❤️
Totally agree regarding rose hip oil! I do like Pai's, but I love Earthwise Beauty's Rosa even more (I recommended it in the video) as it's entirely the whole-fruit, cold-press, and unrefined. For some reason I prefer its scent and texture over rosehip blends that have the seed oil.
i think it really depends on your skin type. im assuming you don't have sensitive skin since you can use retinol and retin a products but im not sure. her sensitive line has been a game changer for me. i have tried tons of brands and non of her things have given me a reaction and I've seen improvements in my skin. i don't use her full line but the staples are a god send for my sensitive skin. as always i appreciate your perspective on these items.
Not sure if you got to the end of the video when I talked about the Superkind Radiance Mask, but I totally agree, that one is special and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I haven't tried anything else from the Superkind line, but I'm glad to hear that you love it! For me, I feel like most everything else in the TH line is just OK and that you can get products from other brands at a better price, but the Superkind line, or at least the Radiance Mask from my personal experience is pretty great. And also a bit more reasonably priced than some of the other products in the lineup!
I am just learning about Tata Harper, so I appreciate this in-depth review. I appreciate the comparison/alternative product options as-well, but on that subject I have to wonder if any of the alternatives produce their own ingredients? I noticed that Tata has an actual FARM that grows and processes a lot of their own ingredients - which I think is pretty special and pretty cool! Anyway, loved your video 🥰Thanks for putting it out!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching! So you are correct that TH does have a farm where they grow some of their ingredients, but not all. I found this excerpt from an interview with Tata Harper where she states that they grow "Vermont’s specialties, in terms of herbs, are calendula, arnica, alfalfa, camomile, borage, meadowsweet, all varieties of mint, and lemongrass." I do know that Earthwise Beauty and Live Botanical grow, harvest and extract some of their herbs/flowers (on a much smaller scale) if that is important to you and you are looking for an indie brand to support. Tata Harper unfortunately has been bought out by Amorepacific, so they are no longer indie, and I'm not sure how this acquisition is going to affect their farming practices.
I really find that I love nourishing balms or masks. Absolutely leave them on for hours. Also find the idea of the oil under the Tata Cleanser is brilliant!
Thank you for the reviews, Trish! When TH launched the sensitive skin line, I teetered with interest... but those high prices kept me away. Definitely glad there are better alternatives out there!
Thanks for your perspective on Tata Harper. I've used her products on and off since she launched in 2010 with just a few products. At the time it seemed to be a good replacement for an Italian skincare line no longer being sold in the US - Erbe Dermocosmetica, which was the only skincare line that cleared my skin problems (acne, uneven tone). As for Tata's line, I really like the Regenerative Cleanser (initially only available in a tube which I complained about and soon after they came out with a bottle and 2 sizes). Unfortunately, the line has become increasingly expensive, and unaffordable. I must say that I do like the textures of the moisturizers, but agree that their impact is nothing fantastic that you couldn't find with another brand. I also found that sometimes the serums contained too many ingredients that caused slight skin irritation. The line also has too many products now that really have little differentiation aside from the price points which have gotten too be outrageous " La Mer-like".Thank you for making giving comparisons in your review. I've just ordered a few products from Earthwise Beauty based on your perspective. Thanks for the discount code....hoping I'll love them.
Hi Angie! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment 😊 I remember Erbe, and being very intrigued by that line! I think you're correct regarding the points you make about TH, especially regarding the pricing which is too bad. I do hope you love the products that you ordered from EWB!! You'll have to keep me posted! 💘
Hi Trish, viewing videos I missed :) Adore the subject and how you compare with other brands which make more sense in terms of ingredients. The green manicure: 💚 bello!
I totally agree with you. I find her products heavily scented and very expensive. My favorites are the Regenerating and Refreshing Cleansers purchased always on sale. I'll have to check out the mask you mentioned. Happy New Year!
I’ve never sat down to compare ingredients and price points (time!) on skincare products, so for your review, I found it super helpful. I visited the other product sites you mentioned and have already made a note to buy those items in the near future. Right now, I’m using TH Anti-Aging Routine ($300). And if I’m being totally transparent, I only bought it because I could get a 2nd product kit with five trial size products for free ;) Overall, I’m happy with the products, but if I can get the same quality and results at a lower price point, that’s what I’ll do for my next purchases.
I'm a 38-year-old male and I've tried several skincare products before using Tata. I mostly used Indie Lee, which offers some good and more affordable products. When I tried the anti-aging set from Tata, I was quite shocked at first sight. The box cost $330 and the items were the size of sample bottles. However, I did notice some improvements. I recently spent $500 on 3 sets and I'm still in shock that I did. So I'm going to try these sets out, and if I don't see any improvements, I'll never purchase from them again.
Thanks for sharing your experience! And I am with you, for those prices I feel like you want to see some improvements in your skin. I mean, it doesn't have to be dramatic, but at least something noticeable in your skin's health ☺
Thanks for this video! I used to be interested in this brand, but I have consistently noticed that they do multiple price increases throughout the year, and they are never transparent about it.. which makes me really wonder if its all just moves to make money
I really enjoyed this video - it's one of my favorites. Please continue doing the overview and comparison product review format. I was am a former Tata Harper product user and due to the price, under performance of the products and some of Tata Harper's unfortunate comments in the past, I no longer use these products. My favorite product was the Regenerating Cleanser, but due to my combination skin type I find the Mukti Resurfacing Exfoliant to be a better choice. A few months back, I purchased the EWB Three Roses Skin mist and the Black Locust Concentrate and find these are stellar products that can't be beat. I have to try the Tripeptide serum. I too would be interested in a comparison of the In Fiore products and I am also interested in the Aislin Quinn luxury skin products.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Amy! Your thoughts regarding TH seems to be shared among several others as well (me included!) I have never tried the Mukti Resurfacing Exfoliant, but maybe I need to give it a look? I'm thrilled you have been enjoying the EWB products, and I definitely think you would enjoy the AR Tripeptide Serum. I've never tried anything from Aislin Quinn so I'm not equipped to dive into a comparison video on that brand, but maybe an In Fiore one?
Enjoyed your video! For some reason, I have never felt really drawn to this brand. I think the only thing I’ve tried is a small travel size of the softening cleanser (I think from their sensitive skin type line-from some gift w purchase) and it just struck me as a sort of boring unscented creamy cleanser. I liked hearing all the different comparisons, especially because some are products I already use haha so I felt happy I’m using what you favor over the TH equivalent. 😊I never actually knew how expensive the brand was until this video.
Never heard of this brand before, my son give me a bag full of products, for my birthday I’m in love with them , I didn’t know there were pricey, since it was a gift ❤❤❤❤❤
I really appreciate this style of review, and it would be nice to see more for other brands. I'm newer to your videos, so I'm not sure what brands/products you've tried in the past. However, some skincare brands that come to mind would be: Kypris, Ayuna, and True Botanicals.
Thank you! I am so glad you enjoyed it! I haven't tried anything from True Botanicals and not much from either Kypris or Ayuna, but about four years ago I did a comparison of the Ayuna Essence and the Manyo Gommage. You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/jAYRDpW2v9M/видео.html Keep in mind I was using my old camera, lol!
Thanks for this informative review. I have always felt that TT is overpriced so have never been draw to her products especially since there are so many wonderful companies such as EWB, LB, Twelve and others. It’s so helpful that you suggested other products to use instead. BTW, your makeup looks nice.
exactly my thoughts when I saw the name ''retinoic oil''.....rosehip oil is not 'retinoic', it's great for the skin in my experience but you can't claim that it's a retinoic product, this is just a marketing trick to attract because of the popularity of retinol and retinoic acid.
Hi Robyn! I am not familiar with the TH Body Oil, but I see that it has a scent profile of neroli, jasmine, geranium and sandalwood, so I would search out oils that have those notes. I did a quick search and found that 54 Thrones Minona has jasmine and neroli and looks quite lovely. You might want to check out the Evan Healy, Osmia and Nini Organics body oils as well.
I’ve tried many TH products....I really want to 💚 them....always buy trial sizes.....I do like the Retinoic Oil & oil cleanser.....the cleansers are too much for my skin (dr H soothing milk....💔💔💔💖💖) ....i have very sensitive skin and even the Creme Riche just didn’t wow me, esp for $$$
Worst skincare line I’ve ever used-it’s like a kit from a Barbie box for little children to play with. It causes so much irritation, too. I think her brand is popular because it’s pushed by celebrities.. just like the horrible oil made in Napa that every celeb talks about, and that’s horrible too. If you want natural skincare, I recommend Vie De Mer.. and Susanne Kaufmann. The best results I’ve had have come from the very known SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, Susanne Kaufmann, vie De Mer, RADIANCE READY STEADY GLOW DAILY AHA TONIC, products from Future 5, etc. #1 is diet and sunscreen.
No, Tata Harper is highly overrated, even when it was an exciting new product with little high end competition in the “conscious beauty” realm. The scent is too cloying for me, the products went bad very quickly, it’s grossly overpriced, and I just don’t think they are formulated well.

Trish, what is another option for the Tata Regenerating Cleanser? Something which can be used over oil, as you do. 🤔 😊😊😊
I really like the Blissoma Rice Cleanser in place of the TH regenerating cleanser.
@TrishV1 thank you, Trish. Will check suggestion :)

What is the nail polish you’re wearing in this video? It’s the perfect shade of green!

Can someone list out the similar products?
I have the similar products listed in the description box, just below each of the TH products mentioned in the video.

I hear you, and agree. I have those two exceptions that I speak about at the end of the video, but even those aren't total ride or dies for me. 🤷♀
I agree. Can’t justify that much money and they raised their prices for natural products
