I love Compass, but it hits so much harder for me during the fight. Considering everything that happens during/after the final phase of the fight, the lyrics coming in with “I wanted blood, I wanted black and white, your evils predefined” while she makes that final decision just completely blows me away. God I loved this canto.
Also because of the heartbeat adding to the theme as well just makes it perfect
THE FAULT LIES WITH YOU GEORGIEE!!!
NOOOO DAMN YOU AHAB 😭😭 I will have my vengeance
@@georgieegames You took so long to make a reaction video of Mili's Compass.
Once again, the fault lies with you, GEORGIE!
so many PM + Mili fans only react/listen/recommend the songs that Mili did for PM, it's great to see you exploring some more of their non PM work, they are incredible.
The Executioner and Her Way of Life ( *spoilers ahead* ) is an upper-mid story with some of the best fantasy ideas I've seen in Japanese writing. It is technically an isekai (transported to another world), but think about how that would normally go - an OP protagonist gets transported, they massively change the world around them with their great powers. Now introduce many such people, coming to a world regularly. Not a very peaceful time, is it? So they kill them, and kill them fast. Half of the first episode is told from the perspective of a typical jp mc, gets summoned, thrown out because his power level is null, gets the girl, she tells him his power is to nullify reality, he gets excited, wants to take revenge, and then the real protagonist (the girl) stabs him.
It's actually a yuri story, with the Executioner trying to kill an isekaied girl that is immortal due to time powers and loves our protagonist. In time, she realizes that maybe stabbing people is not an answer to everything and that this target looks kinda cute. Besides that, the story introduces a great magic system, with both arcane-punk and church aesthetics, a deeper metaphysical understanding of it and its relation to the isekai powers, as well as a whole set of massive cataclysmic events, that happened because some people were not stabbed fast enough. The protagonist herself went through a lesser version of such an event, Blanching - all of her memories and personality got turned to white before she got saved. As you can assume, the saving involved a lot of stabbing people from our world.
As in any Mili song you can notice many references to the events I described from the story. Some can even try to decipher the secret language. Something I an quite sure of is for example "flare-esta", which probably means "disciple of Flare" or "Flare's successor". Considering how much effort Cassie Wei puts into her lyrics I refuse to believe that section doesn't have a direct translation.
executioner yuri mentioned, i should finish that
Ga1ahad and scientific witchery is truly a great song, and also part of a story line of multiple songs over multiple albums.
Songs like DK, Excalibur and Sl0t also tell of their tale or tales directly related to it. Iirc there were 7 songs in total that relate to the saga of ga1ahad
Summoning 101 is also sonewhat connected because of the 617pages "book"
It's always nice to see people enjoying Mili
it's always a pleasure to get to react to more Mili! I love making these videos haha each song is so unique
@@georgieegames You should react to original song too, Victim and birthday kid are masterpiece too
It's probably an unpopular opinion given how recent it was, but I absolutely love the hell out of Sleep Talk Metropolis.
I agree. Sometimes Mili songs take a few listens to me to truly appreciate it but sleeptalk metropolis clicked with me real fast.
If you want more of the scientific witchery storyline, you should listen "summoning 101" "excαlibur" "the witch's invitation" and "sl0t", and if you want more of their made up language, you should listen to "sacramentum unaccompanied hymn for torino" and "gertrauda"
They took a while to release between two worlds as well. I think PM might be having them stagger the release of them so most people hear it in-game first.
I really like how the music usually always has the more literal story telling aspect, but also you can listen to it without the context and still gets the themes or ideas of the song. I love compass though I do kinda wish it had the heartbeat as an actual sound in the song.
If you do another Mili video I’d like to see your reaction to Skin-Deep Comedy (even though I have no idea what it was made for, I just really like this song) or Gunners in the Rain.
Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery just does it for me, I can't really explain. It's such a cool little story, it inspires me to write
Fr the song is perfectly telling the whole story
More Mili! What a great christmas gift
omg georgie spoilers
your welcome 🤣 it's more like a gift to myself, I enjoyed every minute of making this video haha
@@georgieegames for a bit of context for paper bouquets, not really spoilers since this is the premise of the show, the executioner started to care about the target she has to kill as the target was actually somewhat immortal due to their ability.
My favourite Mili song is "Mortal with You" which is the anime ending for Vermillion In Gold
The anime is fanservice heavy, but the story is actually really good. And the full length song used in the ending is based on the ongoing thoughts and emotions of the main female character of the series, Vermeil. Her feelings, wants, hopes, regrets. Whilst also intertwining with the actual progression of the story itself. All within a song
It's honestly beautiful. Also, tbf, a lot of the music from that anime is great. Some of the songs from the OST (by Ken Ito) are some of my favourite OST songs fullstop:
- 大いなる優しさ (My favourite OST song)
- 気鬱
- プラチナスクエア
- 悪魔の誘い
Yes. Mortal with You is so beautiful and amazingly, heartbreakingly so, tells the story of Vermeil's life through the lyrics.
It's rather sad how little recognition it has compared to many other Mili's songs.
Personally, I had interpreted the 'when it snapped, my compass was swallowed by the sea' as referring to Ish's relationship with Queequeg and the effects that her loss had on Ish, especially since all of Ish's post-boat plans revolved around Queequeg. There's even a series of lines during the dungeon where Ish and Queequeg overtly refer to the relationship between them as a rope that had snapped, which is where my brain immediately jumped to.
I also really like your interpretation that the line about cursing the relationship is referring to Ahab - I originally thought it was angst about ish/quee, but this reading makes a lot more sense.
Been bopping to Galahad lately too, but never thought about the story behind it before. Thank you for these kinds of videos!
I would argue that the compass in that line is moreso referring to Ahab, rather than Queequeg. Queequeg was her rope, her lifeline, the thing she could rely on time and time again to stop her from falling overboard and saving her life. But the ship's "compass" was always Ahab, because she was the one determining their course and the thing that the rest of the crew followed without question.
I would say the line is more about how Ishmael losing Queequeg finally made her realize how far gone Ahab was. Which is why the line immediately following is about Ishmael cursing the relationship between her and Ahab.
"Compass" is so good, immediately fell in love with it as soon as I heard the song. But my favorite has to be "Birthday Kid"
Scientific Witchery was my initial introduction to Mili years ago together with Summoning 101, very happy you enjoyed it so much :D
In my own interpretions of limbus songs so far:
Between two world - overcome self doubt
Fly my wings - overcome depression
Compass - overcome past
If you want to know what happened to Lancel0t, there is another song from his perspective called Sl0t
Always love to see more mili reactions! Thank you for doing so many of them :)
I'd like to add another request for "Mortal With You", as well as "Summoning 101"
I also have been really enjoying "Gunners in the Rain" recently, and I have a hard time not hitting repeat on "Children of the City" from the LoR ost
Iirc ga1ahad and the cientific witchery is the third song of a short series of songs by mili
I so happy to see you reacting to Milis' older songs
Merry Christmas
you too!! :)
That's right, Mili has a lot of great songs that are not limited to Limbus or PM games. I recommend listening to Skin-Deep Comedy, My Creator, Summoning 101, world.execute(me); and Space Colony. There are many more good songs but I can't write them all down here. I'm looking forward to your Mili reaction video.
Sleep talk metropolis remind me of my life as millennial, how the housing prices is becoming more out of reach.
Give me rice send me to another world, trance
Dandelion boy dandelion girl make me cry when first time i hear it after Ukraine war, and everytime that song play in my playlist now, i cried inside again for the Palestinian.
Birthday kid maybe will be my future.
Sloth remind me to stop a while and enjoy the moment when it last.
The song came out late because of ISHMAEL ITS HER FAULT
Scientific Witchery was my favorite song since the moment I heard it. I love stories being told in songs, and this song does that beautifully.
I believe mili staggers the releases for the music to prevent spoilers long enough for most players to catch up. Which honesty is a sweet thing. It also builds crap tons of hype. They also had some words to say in the premier of the video. The fanbase was singing 11 different Mili songs in live chat lol
Cassie Wei saved my life and I don't mean that in a joking way. Mili was there at my darkest moment and gave me enough clarity to get up and get help. I will support any project they do.
If you like Galahad and Witchery's storytelling. You'll also love Summoning 101 the next time you react to Mili Songs 💖
It was nice hearing some explanation on the myth for gallahad since I’m not personally familiar with it
Imagined Flight next Please, it's one of the best Mili Song
I would like to suggest you listen to "Mortal With You" From Mili. It was my first Mili song.
I like how every Limbus song features a star in the art
Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery is my favorite Mili song
also if you make another Mili songs video, could you react to Mushrooms or Summoning 101?
My first Mili song was chocological from Cytus game. The nostalgia...
Momocashew loves putting words from different languages together, thats how she makes her language
"i wanted black and white"
she wanted clear lines, Ahab spent the entire time on their fishing voyage gaslighting her crew and emotionally/mentally abusing her crew under the guise of "captains orders" and stuff.
wanting normality instead of those lines of grey "put up with it for now, we need everyone" was taxing
cyberpunk witches is cool
10/10
Georgie you GOTTA react to Mili's Summoning 101, it has some lyrical and possible universal connections to Ga1ahad!
Yes another Mili reaction let's goooo! Thank you for this Christmas present. I hope you'll give Summoning 101 and RTRT a listen at some point!
Really love Mili's music especially the recent one "Entertainment".
In Compass i think line: I curse this relationship between you and me. is about queqeg since at that point song is about regret and her"lifeline snapping" could be just me being melodramatic tho.
Galahad was one of the 1st songs with bathtub mermaid and meatballsubmarine that got me interested with mili can recomment those 2
I absolutely have to recommend Sl0t from the Miracle Milk album, my favorite in the album. Obviously assuming you haven't already
To think i decided to hold off on listening to compass till i got to Ahab, glad i did
Please listen to mortal with you by mili, love the song so much!
Since you’ve listened to Ga1ahad you also have to listen to summoning 101
I see you're listening to good Mili songs this time >:3
can you do reaction to the Ender Lilies's OST from Mili as well
i hope react sumoning 101 ,its my fav song -3-
I couldn't get passed the premise of the Executioner's anime, it was too edgy for my taste.
I recommend listening to world.execute(me), Summoning 101, and Ocean Bby, 3 of my favorite Mili songs
Some other Mili Songs that I can absolutely recommend, that you listen to are
Skin Deep Comedy
and
world.execute(me);
