Life is a journey and he doesn't have to worry about the destination. I mean who's gonna shit talk the guy that's so close to godlike that it took a bedridden psychic unexpectedly doing some damage to make him be literally like "damn now this is fun, I should use a good ten to twenty percent of my max effort."
He is indeed named after the band Slayer lol, but in terms of his character, jazz is VERY fitting for him, and his themes have always been jazzy. In fact a video going thru the history of his themes would be pretty interesting. "haven't You Got Eyes in Your Head?", "The Vampire Saga", and "Jack a Dandy" would be the ones to check out.
You already know of the dandy vampire samurai Nagoriyuki, but Slayer is the OG dandy vampire of Guilty Gear. In fact it was just confirmed in Slayers Strive arcade mode that not only was Slayer Nagos teacher, but he was also the one who turned him into a vampire. In the 1990s Slayer created the Assasins Guild, the same Assasins Guild that Zato and Millia were part of. Slayer had noble intentions for the guild, to protect the common folk from tyranical dictators by, well, assasinating them. The guilds interests ended up shifting more towards organized crime tho, so he left out of disgust. In terms of power, Slayer is like, LUDICROUSLY strong. He holds back during his fights because almost nobody is strong enough to take him on at full strength. He can uppercut someone so hard that their body exists the milky way galaxy in seconds. He has a super potent healing factor too. Also similarly to Nagoriyuki, he doesn't have any of the typical weaknesses of vampires. You can stake him, put him out in the sun, throw garlic at him whatever, he's not weak to any of it. He just gets to be OP as fuck lol. His wifes name is Sharon and her powers are pretty peculiar too. She's effectively immortal due to a quirk in her universal ID. Slayer can suck her clean dry of blood until she's a bag of skin and she'll be fine a moment later. They love going people-watching and writing haiku together.
As is pretty obvious, Slayer is a vampire, in fact THE vampire of guilty gear (Nagoryuki is one but as of Slayers release, he seems to be someone Slayer turned into a vampire).
The lyrics in the video you saw aren't final (someone definitely rushed to make a really cool music video), but I think the message of the video still stands. Just live life in the moment and stop worrying about where you're going. As a vampire Slayers pretty much seen all of history, and despite the fact that he cant die, he's a guy who very much sees the value in the life of normal humans, as he also has to see their eventual deaths. Guy's just a cool old gentleman who wants people to live their life to the fullest.
"Holding a platinum knife with a soft fire glow" is referring to Sol, it's also implying their first meeting because of the next line being "but his eyes did not shine" & "what he needs is a lead can't have overthrow".
When Slayer first met him his life was a mess to say the least thus the he acted as someone who Sol can't just brute force.
As someone who grew up with grandma constantly playing frank sinatra on her old record player this song makes me feel right at home

Your assumption that he's lived for a long time and is more optimistic is correct! Slayer is an immortal vampire that's lived for a very long time, and he lives by the principles of dandyism (being a gentleman basically!). He's considered one of the strongest characters in the guilty gear universe, but despite his immense power, he enjoys the more mundane things in life. He often offers advice to the main cast and tries to lead them along with his wisdom and experience! The woman in his video is his immortal wife, sharon, which is his dear lover AND infinite blood supply.
Slayer is just so chill, has an immortal wife with ∞ blood they can basically do whatever. Slayer is pretty much an unchanging force in the guilty gear universe but has a profound impact on the characters around him.
Slayer is the originator of a personal philosophy he calls "Dandyism" and has mentored other characters (Nagoriyuki and Zato-1) in it, and as an immortal vampire loves observing humanity with his immortal wife Sharon (who let's him get his drink on whenever). Vampires in GG also dont have any problems with stuff like sunlight or other typical vampire weaknesses, so he's gotta find some way to spend his time after all
Slayer character is just so great. Since he's an immortal vampire he just drop from time to time, give pieces of advice for characters to improve themselves and challenge their point of view then just leave.

slayer is such a cool character with only 2 characters being stronger then him in Happy Chaos and Bedman
Wouldn't say bedman is stronger than Slayer.
Slayer holds back a lot, which is probably why he didn't win against bedman when he confronted him (also because of the fact that he didn't know how his teleporting worked)
And President Gabriel kinda kicked bedmans arse, Which would further support the idea of Slayer being above bedman since Slayer and Gabriel are practically equals
@@fizer302 you know when bedman was fighting them he was only at 2 or 5 percent power right, Bedman is stronger then Happy Chaos at full power
