You truly are amazing! Got a couple other Floyd related reaction coming this weekend. Ones that I love that I want to introduce you guys to, if you don't already know them.
One of the best things about new reactors is that they don't have a mile long list of songs to react to and will jump on things that catch their attention so good on you for checking this incredible tribute so quickly. New sub for more of that...and Nightwish of course! LOL As an old school PF fan, I was somewhat dismissive of High Hopes/Division Bell but this tribute is impossible to dismiss. I am almost 63 and Nightwish has been a revelation to me. They are filling a void in my musical soul that I didn't know existed before the pandemic. (thanks covid?) Looking forward to whichever NW song you react to my friend.
I was skeptical about listening to this version for quite a while (I hate covers in general, although this is more of a tribute) but after making my way through a sizeable chunk of Nightwish's live discography I thought "if anyone can pull off High Hopes, it's them"....... Mind blown!! I listened to it a further 10-15 times that same night, and without fail I have listened to it every single day since, at least once. It's the best tribute to any song I have ever heard. Great reaction. I saw you tearing up, and knew instantly "you get it"
Floyd is my favorite band. There's a very personal connection to their music due to a life event so yeah, sometimes, their music definitely gets me in the feels. LOL
OMGosh! I just now realized that I watched your video quite a while back. I haven't started watching this video yet, but I remember I loved your reaction to this cover by Nightwish.
This is actually a wonderful tribute. It's heavier and powerful, but maintains nicely the essence of the original. Glad you liked and approved, because I know that some PF fans don't. ⛄👍
Some Floyd fans are purist snobs. They miss the whole point of what Floyd was about: exploration of sound and experimenting with that could be done with it. I'm extremely open minded about music. I judge everything on it's own merits.
The only other two that I have heard that are close is Wrathchild America doing "Time" and RPWL doing this one: ruclips.net/video/0pHgnuhIgWg/видео.html
O.M.G. that performance was unbelievably good! I'm a massive PF fan and never thought anyone could do them justice, but Nightwise just did. Not only that, they created a menacing feel to it too that was scarily intense. I loved it, and I loved your reaction to it. Thank you!!
If David Gilmore likes it...you did a good job! So glad you jumped the list to check this out... this ismore a tribute than.a cover bc while they respected the original song...they also made this a Nightwish song...with class! @@MusicGodReacts I hear that! And Marko Hietala (pron:HEE-ah-Tallah) is a fantastic vocalist! His solo stuff is worth checking out. Especially the song Tides, by his band Tarot!
Part of what makes this performance so great is that it’s not a direct copy of the original, but it’s still very respectful of the original. That respect is what’s missing from most of the “weird stuff” that you referred to. It’s important.
And what exactly is the DIFFERENCE between a cover and a tribute, by your standards? Not asking rudely, just curious because I've always wondered how people differentiate the two?

I played in a HS football game in Nov 1987 in the Pontiac Silverdome. I was starting for Erie Mason Eagles and we won Class C state championship in 1987 (there is actually a video on YT of our season and that game against Saginaw Novel Catholic Central). I also saw Great White & White Snake in the Silverdome during my senior year. Memories. The only time I heard Pink Floyd live in concert was 2010 sitting on the balcony of my 10th floor San Francisco apartment next to AT&T Ballpark off King St & 3rd. I had a big bowl of popcorn, listened to every song and enjoyed the fireworks and such as they shot out the top of the open baseball stadium.

I have a 7 speaker, 200 watt, 5.1 surround sound by JBL for my computer. Everyone on my street can hear it! lol
I never understood the whole "covers" shit personally....But if others enjoy that is their right but I won't wast my time or money on a band that plays covers....But again that is just MY personal preference....AHIMSA!!!!
Personally, I love cover songs if done well. I've heard both good and bad. This one is definitely in the Top 5 for that category. Some of the greatest songs in Rock history have been covers.
