@@mikloridden8276 Yes, but only because they had little experience with other races and because of poverty, not because the white supremacist ideas are inherent to their cultures. In Yugoslavia, we had very positive attitudes towards many third world countries and strong cultural exchange due to the Non-alligned movement, but Poland, former USSR states etc. had very different experiences. They were isolated from the world.
All societies can slide into intolerance much easier than they like to think. This pandemic is the proof.

Ukrainian Border Military didn't allow a pregnant Indian lady to cross the border. She is stranded at the Ukraniain Border for more than one day. Ukranian citizens didn't allow any African citizens nor any Indian citizens to board the trains scheduled to Poland. They didn't even allow African women and Indian women to board the trains scheduled to Poland. African citizens and Indian citizens were stranded inside the railway stations for more than 12 hours. Ukranians clearly said to the African citizens and Indian citizens that "This train is only for Ukrainians". When some Indian women somehow managed to board the train and got a seating space in the train, Ukranians came and pushed these Indian women out of the train.

I think it is shameful for the black medical students to turn their back on the sick and wounded who need their help now more than ever. They shout "racism" while refusing to stay and provide help to wounded children as well as wounded soldiers. Then, they ask the international community to feel sorry for them. Shameful, indeed.

It is not my war. I am an American and we are not fighting. We are supporting Ukraine with aid in the form of weapons and humanitarian aid.
I am not asking anyone who is not Ukrainian to fight for Ukraine. I am suggesting that medical school students could provide life-saving help to soldiers as well as civilians, including women and children. I am also suggesting that students in a host nation would be noble to feel a sense of responsibility to help the people - civilians as well as soldiers - injured in this war. Doctors are volunteering from all around the world to go to Ukraine and help care for the sick and wounded.
I don't care if Asia and Africa help with the war in Ukraine. Ukraine can receive all of the military help it needs from NATO countries.
As for accepting people fleeing the war in Ukraine into America, I think we should help ease the burden on European nations and open American facilities to provide safe refuge for all who are fleeing the war. I donate money to that cause. America has a long history of accepting people from all nations and providing a safe refuge.
None of my points of view are hypocritical in the least.
The original issue is the media coverage of racism at the border crossings out of Ukraine and at the bus/train depots within Ukraine. I think that a nation with a history such as that of Ukraine - which includes significant racism - and has been embroiled in military conflict since 2014 is a poor choice for a POC when they are looking for a place to attend college. And, when people make poor choices, they should accept a portion of the responsibility for making those choices. That is not hypocritical, at all.
But, the media coverage is focusing 100% of their attention regarding this subject on the racism being demonstrated by some of the cops in the depots and some of the border officers. There have been dozens of stories written about this subject, and none of those stories mention anything about how the students should bear a portion of the responsibility for choosing to go to school in a war-torn nation. None of the stories are saying anything about how those students could have left prior to the invasion quite easily, but they didn't have the foresight even though the world media was sounding the alarm of war for weeks prior to the onset of hostilities. None of the stories are saying anything about how POC with better embassies and/or consulates from their nation of origin are having a much easier time leaving that POC with less access to competent embassies. None of those other factors are being mentioned at all. The story is the same old "white people are bad and POC are oppressed" story.
As a white person, this gets tiresome.
So, I make the analogy that if me - a white Christian male - chose to go to college in Iran (for example) and Iran were to become embroiled in a military conflict, would it be reasonable for me to expect to be treated equally by the Iranian police as an Iranian citizen? Personally, I think that would be an unrealistic expectation. And, I think most people would agree with that.
All of that aside...
I wish the very best for everyone who is fleeing the war. I wish you safe travels and a safe place to stay. I donate to charities that are helping to provide food, shelter, and medicine to people - all people - who are being displaced by this war. I do so happily and I hope some of my donations go to provide for people who are not Ukrainian, but found themselves in Ukraine at this terrible time.
That said, I do not want to hear about how racist white people are when we are among the biggest donors who are helping fund the humanitarian efforts. I find it personally insulting when the media, as well as people being interviewed, choose to insult the very demographic of people who are giving the most help. I find it inappropriate when a young black male complains about racism in an interview at a time when thousands of women and children are either being injured, killed, or having their homes completely destroyed. Those complaints come across as a little selfish and self-righteous. It's as if they are changing to focus from the massive human suffering on the part of an entire nation to their own personal frustrations.
Anyhow, we don't have to agree. You seem like a good person and I thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts to me. And, again, I wish you safe travels and a comfortable place to stay with plenty of food and everything else you need. I wish that for everyone.

Being objective here, there is no chance those students can continue their studies in the foreseeable near term future. So, their immediate options are to return home, to safety, or to be accepted into a different university system. This story said, "80,000 students" of which 20,000 are from India. The students should not be subjected to being in limbo for more than a very short time. The reason is Western Europe is as prejudiced at the US. As we heard, there was great hostility towards Arab students. The recent past is raw. Those students through no fault of their own carry the burden for the past.

Many of these black students are enrolled in medical schools. They are choosing to flee rather than stay and provide medical support that would help the sick and wounded.
