The snap ring on top of the return piston is a one time use. The diameter is 1 1/4 in. snap ring, which can be purchased from the hardware store.
Im getting ready to buy a Dodge Stealth that is currently overdrive deficient. I'm also in my third month of auto tech school. This is going to be my first real project, and this video was exceptionally helpful. I learn better visually than I do by reading written instructions. Thanks!

I keep re-watching this video and still don't realize what I did wrong, in order to burn my clutches right away... I installed the drum seal correctly, I installed the bearing right, I lubed everything as shown, I replaced the seals as shown, I installed the piston right, I presoaked the clutch plates and the clutches still burned out... I have no idea what to do at this point, except try it again when my new replacement kit arrives. Unfortunately, I will have to rent a car until then since my car is my DD...
going to be doing this with my AT 2g Spyder 2.4 turbo, slipping in 3rd or 4th gear.
i have a 95 Talon FWD TSI. when I turn OD (overdrive) on and try to shift out of 3rd into 4th it shifts into Neutral. I imagine this kit would fix the problem i'm foreseeing. Is that accurate?

Okay, I installed the old clutch plates back into the drum and mounted the end clutch pack onto the trans. Now, the car goes into gear, but I hear a whine (even in park). When I installed the new, replacement kit, I only heard that whine in reverse (or so I think). I have no clue what is going on. The only thing that worked out differently for me than the video, was the fact that I found it very hard to re-install the retaining clip that holds the plates in the drum. On the video it took almost no effort, while in my case, I had to really push hard with a screwdriver and even help myself with hammer taps. I was thinking about installing only three clutch plates so I would get enough clearance, but the original contained four, so I put all four in. Could that be my problem? Would the clutches burn out if they are constantly pressed toward one-another? Shouldn't there be some clearance between them, until the trans fluid puts pressure on them, or am I getting this whole thing wrong? Please help me out, because this car is my daily driver and I need to get it going as soon as possible... Thanks in advance!

I did this today, and drove the car for about five miles, before the new end clutch pack burned again! I am not sure what I did wrong as I followed the video, step by step... I will purchase another kit tonight and re-try this. Until then though, I will try to reuse my old clutch plates and hope to be able to use the car while waiting, as it was still drivable... Any suggestions?
I have a 2G Eclipse RS, but cannot find the end clutches, My motor is what i consider backwards from a lot of other eclipse's, behind the pass. wheel is the harmonic balancer and behind the driver side has what i thought was the endclutch cover but under it there are just to big gears... what do i do
