    Im excited for more content. As a member of salt strong I love all the inshore knowledge I've learned. But end of the day I still do way more surf fishing than anything. Great video my friend.

    HOW DO YOU HOOK THEM...? THANX

    • @G0rilla216
      @G0rilla216 7 месяцев назад +3

      Like most live baits, you may get multiple recommendations but I always hook them through the bottom(where their legs are underneath the shell) all the way through their shell and out the other side. Make sure you run the hook all the way through because they can free themselves if you do not.

      How much weight do you use? Do you want them to stay put or move with the current? Am from Ma. Are they basically everywhere there’s beach?

    • @G0rilla216
      @G0rilla216 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@danaluannhanna8523 I know they’re here where I fish at the NC/SC border…other than that I’m not sure. I usually use 1 1/2 oz to 2 oz. I try to use as light a weight as possible without the bait immediately getting blown back in by the surf.

  • @Sweetaccord
    @Sweetaccord 7 месяцев назад +2

    That was hilarious. You don't need to run up to get them. After a minute, just stand there and don't move and you can get them.

  • @Sweetaccord
    @Sweetaccord 7 месяцев назад +1

    Also, the younger soft sand fleas are more of a target than the older hard shell ones if you don't get bites.

    I would like to see a video of you catching sand fleas on the shores of South or North Padre Island TX. I've been told that these beaches don't produce any sand fleas. But I once caught one by accident and it was big like the ones you showed in your video. So I believe where there is one there is more.

  • @FrankLadd

    nice tip on the sand fleas. I wonder if that will work for mud crabs.

  • @chasebarnard5750
    @chasebarnard5750 7 месяцев назад +1

    With fiddler crabs, I keep them in a minnow keeper, with enough water for them submerge in, but not so much that they'll drown, and I'll usually leave a stick in there for them to climb up out of the water on. I guess these are different. They will really die after just a little bit in water?

    • @panhandlesalt
      @panhandlesalt 7 месяцев назад

      Not necessarily. Their pee kills tem faster. Just keep them washed down.

    • @G0rilla216

      My father and I have been using them for years. If you don’t have a sand flea rake, you can use a kitchen strainer.

    Those are bigger than the ones we get here on the west coast. We use them for stripers and surf perch on a fish finder rig in the surf.

    When i was a kid we would wait in the water and move on them from that side. Not sure if these are the same thing as what we called “sand crabs”. They would make a big “V” also in the receding wave.

    Where can you get a solid rake, like you have? I’ve came across cheap ones. That will not dig like yours

    • @G0rilla216
      @G0rilla216 7 месяцев назад

      Until you find a sturdy one…you can use a kitchen colander or a kids beach pail with strainer bottom.

    • @robdishjr4912
      @robdishjr4912 7 месяцев назад

      I bought a cheap one from Walmart. I have no problem digging them up once u find them. Like u said once u notice it u can't unsee it. If I have some shrimp I will throw then out first and while I wait and watch ill sometimes blind rake and find a small amount. No matter what one u get make sure u rinse it off. Salt water murders everything it touches

    In California, you can only have 35 sand fleas on you at one time. Stupid laws, big fine. Go figure.
