Hummel's Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major is the best trumpet concerto ever composed. It's full of joy! I love it.
No it's not. The great master Haydn wrote one. No comparison.
I am living in Bratislava 35 years.... City of Mozart Haydn Beethoven Schubert Liszt Brahms Bartók Schmidt
@@organboiHummel > Haydn
Both are amazing. I always thought I liked Haydn's better, but this one sticks in my head all day.@@organboi
Absolutely agree.
Haydn's trumpet Concerto in e flat minor gives Hummel's trumpet Concerto a hard run for the money. Being a Trumpeter, I love the beautiful sound that only Symphonic music can bring out the true sound of the horn.
O.B.T.W. - I am a retired Paramedic/firefighter of 31 years. I have always asked my colleagues if they now, or have ever played an instrument. Over half have always said "yes." My theory is that the same type A personality, where you want to be lead, stand out playing solos, and being in charge, draws trumpet players to that field of work. ❤
One of the most catchy, addictive classical pieces I've ever heard.
Wow! where has this been all my life, takes me back 70 years to my "discovery" of classical music. Thank you for this.
I found this beautiful trumpet concerto from FM 91.5 oc,ca accidently.
So good!
00:00 1st movement
10:04 2nd movement
14:05 3rd movement

Happy to see Hummel's music appearing. It deserves to be better known. This performance illustrates that his concerto can stand with the best of works for the trumpet. Bravo to all who made it possible.
I agree. In my opinion, Hummel's Concerto is better than Haydn's
This was played on Lewis, a TV detective show, recently. I had to find it. Thank you for this. 😊
Very enjoyable, superb blending of orchestra with the trumpet. I listened to it twice, and put in my music folder to enjoy many more times.
The first few seconds remind me of the Haffner Symphony. Wonderful concerto.
And the 2nd mvt reminds me of Mozart's no. 21 pno concerto
Simply wonderful , thank you .
What a treat! Rob sounds beautiful. Bravo!
Incredibly beautiful composition and rendition
Beautifully done Rob!
Thisis . very beautiful for my soul to calm me at night times when I lonely it's soothes our inner being and gives us peace
Johann Nepomuk Hummel was the best student of Mozart and was born in Bratislava Slovakia. Here is his born house and museum
thank you aviv! what a wonderful trumpet concerto, I play trumpet but can only dream of playing a piece as demanding as the Hummel
I just played the first movement for an a solo but I can only dream of the second and especially third movement. Maybe one day
Beautiful job Rob! You are da man! This is a piece we all have to learn, so very rarely is it performed so well...
This has become one of my favorite classical pieces. I like how the drummer seen @ 5:13 really seems to get into the lively music, really looks like he’s having a good time. :)
The third movement is joyful !
A truly fitting performance of a legendary piece of music.
Absolutely glorious. I must watch and listen again.
Absolutely perfect, and he makes it look so easy! Great sound out of that little Eb trumpet.
I was impressed by the composition that does not break the atmosphere of music. The performance of the trumpet solo for 18 minutes and 13 seconds is wonderful Player like articulation or rhythm and melody (I agree with the guidelines · Direttanto · TS, It includes technical terms) PA · Mixing technique · Camera split is wonderful. Although it is an aside, it may be said that it is a romantic era when it says in the arrangement of timpani of the orchestra organization.
THIS ABSOLUTELY SLAPS 🔥🔥🔥💯💀
Excellent bravo
Bravoooo !!!
Wow. What a superb performance.
AND HOW!!!
Very cleanly played!
Nice performance. I've loved both the Haydn and Hummel since my mid-teens. That said. If I had to choose, I'd go with Hummel.
Same!!
this is beautifull!!! WONDERFUL
Awesome love it.
Wow!
Very Professional!
Absolutely love it XD :D
Ya ĺ
Amazing!
8:44 Chop-killer section by my experience. Amazing how he played that so effortlessly and clearly!
+Everest Liu (Manijure) Indeed, very clear! But after some 15 minutes, it seems he gets more tired eventually
+Everest Liu (Manijure) Yes quite! However I believe he is playing this on an Eb trumpet which helps with getting up there in the top range.
Joseph, those little horns really rip it out of the player - if you cannot get the required range on the good old Bb trumpet, you will not get it out of the Eb. They are much more problematic as regards intonation. Then the player has to recreate the Bb sound as much as he/she can. Other than fingering, then trumpet is not the soft option.
What fabulous elegant and beautiful music produced by this amazing musician who was Hummel. The gracefulness and joy are contagious with moments of admirable lyricism. This concert is one of the most beautiful works that I have heard from this specific period with this particular instrument. The soloist interpretation is admirable for the magnificent sound he extracts from the trumpet. The orchestra and its direction are remarkable, establishing a dialog extraordinary with the player.Viva Hummel and his fabulous and unbelievable music. Thanks for this excellent and magnificent recording.
Incomparably greater
Absolutely wonderful!!!!!
oui bien sans plus.... Maurice André est bcp mieux
I have to do this as a solo ensemble piece... Someone kill me.
+TheFishingGuru46 Nah man, you're going to kill it. It's fun and addictive
I discovered this well after your pact with TFG, Mr. B. I am certain this is all a wonderful memory for the two of you. Furthermore, your communication with TFG was a riot. Thanks for the belly laugh!
Isn't that a contradiction of terms? Solo ensemble?
David James it’s meant to be “solo and ensemble,” but some people omit the word “and.” I can’t say why.
how'd you do?
Pleasant and big sound imo, not too piercing, suits the piece well. Great performance.
BRAVO!!
Nice sound
Marvellous
I played this as a solo and bout killed killed me!
Didn’t recognize this piece until I heard the third movement
0:19-0:32 is a clear reference to Mozart's Haffner Symphony (1st movement near the beginning)
You have to be very well prepared to stand for 18 minutes looking forward to a solo!
Yeah, Rob!
He has nice tone
Wait this is the full build for the orchestra for this piece? Looks smaller than expected.
Outstanding at 17:00!
if you think that was good watch elmer churampis version his is way better and cleaner ! seriously you have to watch it search this: Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra: Hummel - Trumpet Concerto (feat. Elmer Churampi, trumpet)
Rob playing on a Schilke? Schilkes rule!
Tr - 2:57 - and more trumpet
Hm. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say he drew a lot of inspiration from Maurice Andre. This is not an insult. It takes a great player to approach how Andre performed this piece.
And the orchestra...they did pretty well, but it was clear they focused their efforts on the third movement.
2:14 trumpet solo
first 2:12 second 8:44
Doot doot
a few minor blips in the slow movement did not really detract from the emotion he displayed in hid -playing
2:12
interesting interpretation...
This shit is catchy as hell
Is that how a classical music lover talks LOL
What kind of trumpet is that😨
+ryan cray E-flat trumpet; a fourth shorter than a "regular" B-flat trumpet
It’s a silver trumpet- ha !
Why doesn't that trumpet player have a chair?
Because he is the main player 😃
He's a soloist......it is traditional in concertos for the soloist to stand up ti play.
Either you know perfectly well why and are just being deliberately tiresome but if not , perhaps might you consider trying to work it out for yourself ?
Tr solo - 2:12 -
who is the soloist?
+freddo3995 robert frear, his name is listed in the title
freddo3995 really?
Yes, you will find his name mentioned above.
After watching 🐙🎮

A far cry from Tine Thing Helseth's performance.
so low
I find this piece is open to interpritation. Can be played slower or faster and both sound effective.
tune lower
I do not agree. It sounds great
