I definitely hope it's not the future of grocery store shopping. I just went in to get a package and it was an immediate turn off that they wanted you to scan your phone. Luckily I was able to bypass all that mess
If people like this, fine. However, as you indicate, my fear is that all of us will be FORCED to shop in this manner (already some stores are requiring you to use a smartphone to use their coupons). No privacy, cameras tracking your every move, and giving up the security of your credit card/debit card/bank account, and trusting that the AI system will charge you correctly. The technology could always go haywire, and then what. Just look at what happened with Southwest Airlines when their computers crashed.
I like the Amazon Fresh store because the Dash Carts help me keep on my self imposed budget , I usually shop at the Woodland Hills one . Also you’re right the Dash cart is small so I do trips one with the dash cart and my second time around with the regular cart and I can fit more stuff.
This is just totally convenient. We have one in San Francisco while our cheapest grocery store is packed so much that you can be in line for nearly an hour. They bring your food within two hours while you just slowly pick what you want. Free delivery too & they even take EBT! Life has gotten a bit easier.
I’ve been watching months for this store to open! Looks very cool, nice and clean! I’m excited to go check it out. Thanks for showing us around. Just found your channel and subbing! 👍🏼👍🏼
Ohhhhh you guys are making me want to move to Cali... the West Coast Asian food... this cool supermarket... That supermarket looked so fun to shop and everyone was so nice!
Here's something I wonder about when it comes to this type of high-tech shopping. What if the technology fails? Example, about a month ago, my wife went out to a McDonald's, and found our nearby location closed because their computer system crashed, and they were unable to do transactions. She drove to a second location, same thing. She drove to a third location, and it was open, but after she made her purchase (in CASH by the way), their computer system went down, and everyone in line behind her was SOL. As it turned out, this was a system wide crash that evening across part of southern California. No transactions could be done, not even in CASH. What if this happens at the Amazon Fresh store? What if ALL stores become like this and the technology crashes? Do we want to become that dependent on technology? Look what happened at Southwest Airlines this past December when their computers crashed.
Parking was great, plenty of it... just avoid the costco side and you should be good. These masks are air queen which is a korean brand, great for avoid glass fog!
Amazon fresh gives you old, bad food when delivered. The frozen chicken i got made me sick. the turkey slices were inedible and the peanuts looked like came from some ancient vault.
@SidRandom That would be my biggest fear in ordering food online for delivery. Buying food sight-unseen? Unless they are pre-packaged products, no way. You also have to figure many Amazon employees are going to pick out the crappy looking produce and meats to get them off the shelves, because they aren't going to be selected by the in-person shoppers.
Hated my experience at Amazon Fresh. It's like a dystopian future. Depressing, cold, and colorless. Employees seem unhappy to work there. Prices were higher than local markets. I won't be returning.
How is it a dystopian future? It will increase efficiency so people have more time for better things then saying hi to people and scanning endless items. As for the people unhappy to work there, no shit they are working at a grocery store, likely not their dream job.
@@banditbuddies728 I think what stevepd is expressing is that this could lead to a future where we become TOO dependent upon technology, where we have no interaction with humans, only machines, and when we have given up our privacy and security to the technology and simply TRUST that it will work correctly. We are also trusting the technology won't fail on us (especially when we have become singularly dependent upon it). Just look what happened with Southwest Airlines when their computers broke down.
Fairway was expensive, but it still retained some of the feel of the original and at least smelled like real food. This modern version is super creepy. You can feel each one of those thousands of dangling cameras absorbing your every move. One is simultaneously awed by the technology and depressed at the implications. For what amazon is getting in these transactions, the prices should be much lower. What would you pay for being able to predict someone's every thought and action? On the upside, the apples are quite good, though many were pretty banged up.
That's what I was thinking. Wait in line outside for 10-20 minutes because you don't want to take the 5 minutes it takes for a checker to scan your groceries at check-out.

@blooskys1 I was thinking some of these same points. Specifically, I was wondering if these types of stores are ADA compliant. They don't look like they are.
