Had a 08 Z4M Triple Black, loved that car, not the bearing or vanos issues. Picked up the Z4M40i Frozen Gray in June. Could not be happier. It could be a little more rough in the edges, but the raw power this car has, even with Twin Scroll (two squirrel's in the same cage) is very easy to use. Looking forward to a lot of enjoyment for years to come.
Hi guys think both these cars so so different in the technology stakes... but I still like them both equally in different ways... front grille on new car not great I’m afraid... great video again keep up the good work boys liking your work.
I know this is 3 years old but it is a great video for us new to us Z4 owners. I have a 08 3.0si Z4 and love it. I wonder if you could make the modern seats fit in the e85?
As an owner of e86 it is natural that I would go for the Alpina due to its manual gear box and naturally aspirated engine, that is collectable now that every car is now turbocharged with flappy paddle, this now makes manual gearbox NA engine special and sought after. The Alpina is also made in limited number so I will buy the Alpina and invest the remaining money.
I've got a low mileage e85 2.5si M sport and the thought of bumping up the Torque is a real value proposition. I never feel starved of Torque but I'd like to experience that much in a NA Z4. The new one doesn't interest me at the moment. Not a fan of Turbos. My worry is the second market is gonna be devoid of these cars when I come to buy one because turbos wreck engines. Luv and Peace.
The classic. I have a 2006 Z4M. The hydraulic steering. The new one has become a GT cruiser, automatic, when you see the buttons for comfort and eco, BMW is purely after $$$. It’s no longer a sports car if everyone is purely after a fast 0 to 60, which let’s face it, can rarely be achieved in daily driving anyways. There is a huge underground market which keeps the namesake and brand going strong after the new sales with the classics.
the new z4 is a good car but for the same reasons the car with the old z4, I bought an old z4. It’s not a m but a’08 3.0si coupe, I cost me 12.5k then I spent on various things (new timing chain 1.2k, new rear quarter panels 1.3k, repaint, 1k, waterpump 200, solenoids 200, Lsd wuaife 1.5k, trans oil 400, coils, many minor things Total around 6k. Driven 8000km in 3 years (about 250km on the track) Now is for sale highest offer 10k So total costs 8.5k All I replaced was for preventive maintenance as these are expected to fail, and I sold the old parts as ok, except for the timing chain (I thought it caused a rattle but it’s the same noise now)
To me, buy a great example of an old one or a less great car at a much lower price, throw a bit of cash at it and enjoy the fun :) If you buy the new one and lose 20k in 3 years! That is a serious amount of money available to upgrade the old car with change left over ;) Recycle and Not Bin :)
Hello, excellent channel, I think that your knowledge of the subject is magnificent, I come to you for the opinion of an expert; I want to buy a BMW Z4 or a Mercedez SLK 200/230, from 2004 to 2008, which one do you recommend? which has less mechanical problems. I live in Spain. Thank you
I just don’t feel the new model will age as gracefully as the original Z4.
The older one of course. I have a 2008 3.0 si with the wonderful N52. Classic beauty with plenty of performance.
I have the original z4 3.0si with the N52 engine from the 330i. Its beautifully smooth, properly quick and the looks have aged like fine wine.
Same here. That N53B30 engine is the pinnacle of straight six technology.
@@rumporridge1 I wish they offered that for the Z4, directed injection added a bit more power
I would choose the Alpina .... I am biased, as I own one and love it to bits.
The old timeless classic of-course.. just look at those lines..

The alpine every time, it’s a timeless classic
I chose e85 old one for enjoying then I bought it yesterday.
I am really locking forward to drive on the metropolitan highway in Tokyo.

Alpina all day long. It’s a classic and that body style looks gorgeous.
More shots of the Alpina please.

New Z4 would be my choice 👍🏻👌🏻......
Same, I love the San Francisco Red colour!
Same here

Great video. I love my 2007 Z4M but I’d take a new one too!
The Alpina wing on the trunk ruined the beautiful original lines.
twin scroll ain't twin turbo

Back to back driving comparisons?
How come you left out the model between those two? That’s the one to have.

I'll take the old....has the classy look
I had an e85 manual and now an e89 manual.. to be honest, the e85 was more fun to drive. I think cuz it was lighter and felt more go-cart
An Alpina without the striping is not the real thing. Add it and then it’s perfect.
Easily E85....
Take them to the track for a good lap comparison.
Alpina. Every time.
New, just for those seats
guy on the left tho' LMFAO
Gave you a like too!
Original is It!
can't have manual tranny? gg.
