I'm one of the guys in this video and I just want to set the record straight. We mostly used water pumped out of the nearby creek. When we finally did use some water from the hydrant it was with the blessing of the local fire department to which I am a former member. Our water system that supplies that hydrant is entirely privately owned and maintained and we are well aware of how much water is in our tanks. Several firefighters came by and said "save your water" but when I responded "its creek water" they said "awesome, keep doing what you're doing." The fire was hauling ass down that hill and when it hit our pre-soaked brush it slowed down significantly so I do believe we made a difference. We may look a little stupid but sometimes you have to be willing to look stupid to get things done. The old man in the baseball cap is my neighbor Allen and is one of the kindest and most badass people I've ever met. He is 70 years old, strong as an ox, and stubborn as a mule. There was no way he was going to leave and there was no way I was going to leave him. I have endless gratitude to everyone who helped out little mountain town and I'm also mourning the losses of several dear friends who lost their homes. I love my hometown and would do damn near anything to protect it.

Ryan, you Alan and Dave protected the front line of the Village! If you had not been there, this whole story would be one of complete devastation to Mt Baldy Village. You are angels on earth! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I took my folks out of their home shortly after that video and headed down the mountain... None of us thought our homes would ever still be standing. Ted stayed on our street, Thank you Dave for helping him with hose equipment. You all are great Men. God Bless all of you.
