He used his kid-friendly disguise to lure five children into the back of the pizzaria where he supposedly murdered them and stuffed their remains into the mascots' costumes. These children later possessed the beloved animatronics and became violent killing machines who only attack during the night, setting up the events of the game.

In the newspaper clippings there was a killer dressed up in a Freddy faz bear suit who led kids them to the backstage area of the pizzeria he eventually killed 5 kids in the backstage. He was later caught but the bodies of the kids where never found. It is to be thought to be said that the bodies are in the mascots themselves which would heavily explain another newspaper clipping of how parents complain of the foul stench and blood around the characters mouths and eyes. So in the end the 5 children haunt the pizzeria and all 5 want your blood for an unknown reason maybe just hatred for older people
Okay so, I just found out something that makes this game EVEN MORE MESSED UP. Word of creator, the 5 animatronics are like this because they are HAUNTED BY FIVE DEAD CHILDREN who were murdered by a person in a mascot suit, and stuffed into the animatronics. you can discover this by reading the rules poster, which keeps changing.
