  • Lasagna with Béchamel Sauce
    Ingredients for Lasagna:
    - 500g ground meat
    - 2 chopped onions
    - 5 cloves of garlic
    - 3 tablespoons of oil
    - 300g chopped tomatoes
    - 2 cans of tomato sauce
    - 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
    - 2 tablespoons of sugar
    - 1/2 cup white wine (optional)
    - 50g chopped basil
    - 50g chopped parsley
    - 10g chopped fresh thyme
    - Mozzarella cheese
    - Parmesan cheese
    - Cheddar cheese
    - Lasagna noodles as needed
    - Salt and black pepper to taste
    - A pinch of nutmeg
    Ingredients for Béchamel Sauce:
    - 5 tablespoons of butter
    - 4 tablespoons of flour
    - 700ml milk
    - Salt to taste
    - A pinch of nutmeg
    Preparing the Meat Sauce:
    1. Cooking the Onions:
    Sauté the chopped onions in some oil until golden.
    2. Adding the Meat:
    Add the ground meat to the onions, then add the chopped garlic. Sauté until the meat changes color and is cooked.
    3. Adding Tomato Paste and Tomato Sauce:
    Add the tomato paste, tomato sauce, and chopped tomatoes to the meat mixture and bring to a boil.
    4. Adding Spices and Herbs:
    Add sugar, salt, black pepper, basil, parsley, and thyme to the sauce. If using white wine, add it at this stage as well. Cover the pan and let the sauce simmer gently until thickened.
    Preparing the Béchamel Sauce:
    1. Melting the Butter:
    Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
    2. Adding the Flour:
    Add the flour to the butter and stir until smooth. Continue to stir for 2-3 minutes until the flour turns slightly golden.
    3. Adding the Milk:
    Gradually add the milk to the flour and butter mixture, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
    4. Adding Spices:
    Add salt and a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce and mix well. Set the sauce aside.
    Assembling the Lasagna:
    1. Layering:
    Cover the bottom of a baking dish with a layer of béchamel sauce. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top. Add a portion of the meat sauce over the noodles, then some béchamel sauce. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the béchamel sauce. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.
    2. Baking the Lasagna:
    Cover the lasagna dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 40 minutes, removing the foil for the last 20 minutes to allow the top to become golden and bubbly.
    3. Serving the Lasagna:
    Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool slightly before cutting and serving.
