This statement is quite misleading and gives the impression that China is a lesser threat for India. That's inaccurate to say the least. Unless Indians accept a Pax Sinica in Asia where India would simply become one of the multiple Chinese vassal States, China will remain an enemy State for Bharat. The CCP will never allow India to rise and will never treat India as an equal. The Communist & Han nationalist regime in Beijing wants to rule over Asia, a unipolar Asia. This is why they invaded and colonized Tibet and East Turkestan. This is why since at least 1962 they help Pakistan with weapon tech, even for their nuclear weapons programme. This is why they still occupy parts of Kashmir like Shaksgam valley, this is why China opposes blacklisting of Pakistani sponsored Islamist terrorists like Jaish-e-Mohammad, etc.
this is why they want so called South Tibet etc. this is why they block India's entry into NSG or oppose India's candidacy as a permanent member to the U.N. Security Council. The U.S. and China may possibly have a common interest in Balkanization of India. But at any rate, Communist Chinese hostility towards India cannot go away, it is existential, because a strong democratic India is a strategic threat to their own authoritarian regime and contradicts their strategic worldview where they are the sole Asian leaders. I don't know why/how so many Indians seem to have a soft spot for Communist China, but it is a big danger if somehow Indian strategic thinkers become complacent and believe CCP's China will accomodate India's rise. As long as this regime is in place in Beijing, only Pax Sinica in Asia will do. 🙏
