Always loved this song, and now I can relate to the lyrics. I’m the guy whose eyes once shined for her and now we’re no more. All I wanted was to make her happy, but after 4 years I just wasn’t happy myself. Thinking of her singing this song to me makes me burst into tears every damn time.

This song eventually became one of my favorite all time Bangles songs however I believe that their greatest songs to date in no particular order is "If She Knew What She Wants" - "Where Were You When I Needed You" - "Hazy Shade of Winter" - "Eternal Flame" - "I'll Set You Free" - "In Your Room" - "Manic Monday" - "Walk Like An Egyptian" and there's a few more exceptionally notable songs that they've performed during their stunningly spectacular musical careers too. Long live the "Bangles" aka the greatest female rock n' roll band in the history of music.

Interesting - I'd never heard this version up until today. The Single Remix is so much better (the one from their "Greatest Hits" album, it's got more punch, more sparkly production elements, more bang for the buck so to speak.
Yes, this arrangement is aneamic compared to that where the acoustic and electric guitars and the vocal have more depth. The whole track has a classy rock edge to it....
