Amazing debut video for Cesar De La Rosa! And how about Ashley too, she really killed it in this one. Also, do let us know what you thought about the comparison I made between this song and Pentatonix's "Royals" 🧐🤣
I have been saying since the premier they need to add her permanently!! I know when Sherrie is really excited by the immediate "rewind rewind rewind". Love your reactions.
It does have that Middle-Eastern sound that Aladdin had… I almost wanted to say that the stories took place in the same region but Fiddler was based in Russia 😆
This one definitely had Geoff double-tracked on the bass line. I think that’s the case for most of their recorded music. Eli really only handles the bass line in live performances if Geoff is leading.
One of the best reactions I’ve ever seen, great camera and video quality, did not take long to start the reaction, and very friendly and not pushy people, I’m subscribed.
When Layne did that series of minis recently with computer and synthesizer sounds I wondered how long it would be before some of those sounds worked their way into his arrangements.... and here they are. Listen again to that very first note before Geoff begins to sing... and there are bits and pieces scattered all through this. Just LOVE it.
Thank you, you are the first reactors I have watched that have actually known where the original was from. "Fiddler on the roof", when I was young my brother played Tobal in his H.S. drama class performance of "Fiddler on the Roof".
You should react to I knew you were trouble/as long as you love me mashup from them! They did it a long time ago but it’s really good. I love it because Layne has a bigger part in it than usual!😁
Just a quick correction: While Topol played Tevye in the movie, Zero Mostel originated the role on Broadway. Here's his performance of the song on the 19th annual TONY Awards: ruclips.net/video/nbJEpcteKg4/видео.html
Zero Mostel! Thank you!! I was just trying to think of that actor’s name yesterday! He was in Mel Brooks’s “The Producers,” wasn’t he? And “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum?”
yess, they did an awesome job with this, i love the sort of Arabian vibe that they gave the song 😂 alsooo i have a new suggestion, the acapella academy 2021 showcase FINALLY came out and the entire thing is lengthy but it's GOOD (i'm in it too ;))
Great reaction! When you wrote it reminds you of PTX royals, wow! I already thought of PTX before when you said how well Ashleys voice blends in - in my head I said: like Kirstie's in PTX. Might have to subscribe to you guys...love from Germany 🇩🇪 😘
Go back to where VoicePlay was on the Sing-Off tour back in 2014. Get the Road Trip with 9.2 million views and listen for Layne. Royals shows up here. I'll be waiting for your reaction. Also on the Sing-Off competition Honey (from Just Sing) takes the lead in "Play That Funky Music" and the guys get wrapped around her fingers.
That (Jewish music?) style is called Klezmer, and it’s the genre that all of the Fiddler of the Roof was composed in, as well as many other Jewish English and Yiddish language films of the era. Cool stuff, if you ever get a chance to listen to it.
One correction. Zero Mostel was the one who originated the role on the stage. Topol then starred in the movie adaptation. Here's the only recording I've been able to find of Zero doing the song, it's quite excellent: ruclips.net/video/nbJEpcteKg4/видео.html&ab_channel=OoobabyMuscal
@@ZhenYaoYin Eli does have bass range though, he can take around C2-E2. Check for example Marcello Bass’s compilation of Eli’s range, where Eli does those notes live. I guess that if they use Eli as tenor or baritone, they double track Geoff as bass, but if Eli doesn’t sing another part I think he takes the bass line (probably doesn't happen often in studio though, they will be wanting that baritone or tenor harmony). Edit: I just realized that watching that video from Marcello Bass would mean some spoilers for you if you'd want to react to some of the included videos eventually. Here's a link to a song that has no video though, so I guess you won't react to it? It is a medley called "Diamond in the rough" from their album "Once Upon Ever After". According to Marcello's video, Eli hits a F2 in chest in "Prince Ali" here: ruclips.net/video/RZ2j4WEEHrk/видео.html .
IT'S GREAT TO BE IN YOUR CHANNEL WITH SUCH WONDERFUL REACTIONS. PLEASE REACTION TO BRAZILIAN GABRIEL HENRIQUE, SINGING "I HAVE NOTHING" BY WITNES HOUSTON, AND OTHERS BY MARIAN CAREY. YOU WILL BE THRILLED WITH THAT POWERFUL VOICE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL REACTION. BJS DO BRASIL😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💕💕💕💕😘😘😘😘😘😘💋
I totally agree with you...Geoff looks old and tired....I think he has a lot of stress (he told so in his patreon-talk lately) and the white background was not the best one to choose (a bit like the one for passport-photos)

VoicePlay are an endless source of delight! Thank you so much
Aren’t they?? Thanks for watching! 😍
I have been saying since the premier they need to add her permanently!! I know when Sherrie is really excited by the immediate "rewind rewind rewind". Love your reactions.
She does blend very well with the group! 🤩
Watching your reactions make me so happy! I grinned and clapped just like Cherrie did!
To be fair many Baritones are actually Basses with a HIGHER range too.
That’s very true. It’s still impressive every time though! 😝
huh? nah other way around a lot of baritones have bass ranges a true bass voice is rare to come across geoff himself is a baritone
The backing melody at 6:38 mostly reminds me of Arabian nights from Aladdin.
Fun fact: both composer and first performer of Arabian Nights were Jewish.
Aww I didn’t want to assume that it was just a case of Eli lip syncing to the bass, but looks like this might be one of those times 🤪
One of the best reactions I’ve ever seen, great camera and video quality, did not take long to start the reaction, and very friendly and not pushy people, I’m subscribed.

I’m so glad you did this! Thanks for a great reaction!
Yay, thanks for watching! 🙏

Ooh! I have to go relisten to them again. But I agree, Layne did an amazing job with this song! 🤩

I am sorry to see that you reacted to this cover, it's going to be stuck in your head for days.
I think Tim and Geoff hit F it on the dye. Tim let the grey out finally.
LOL the last time I noticed Geoff without the hair dye was in the Just Sing video. Good that they’re embracing it 😁
You should react to I knew you were trouble/as long as you love me mashup from them! They did it a long time ago but it’s really good. I love it because Layne has a bigger part in it than usual!😁
Wow, just found out how old that was! We might get around to it eventually, mashups are always fun to watch 😆
How many octaves was that by Geoff you ask? The answer is just Yes (G4-F1 so 3 octaves and a bit)
Geoff just needs a crew to move around the hazzard signs. "That step can be a massively dangerous drop off..." :D
Hahahaha “How many octaves can you drop?” “Yes” 😂😂
Yesss this one reminds me of PTX's 'Problem' and 'Royals' covers too! I am so happy to see that I'm not alone lol. Absolutely fantastic. Love you guys
Yay, it’s not just me!! 😍
My favorite VP video to date! Love It! 😍

@@DravenGal Yes, Mostel played Max Bialystock in the 1967 The Producers film and Pseudolus in Funny Thing... on Broadway
@@MiladyMacabre He wasn’t in the movie with Michael Crawford? Well, both great movies!
@@DravenGal Yes he was, but he originated the role on Broadway (prior to Fiddler...)
Oh, I didn’t know that! I always thought Topol originated both stage and screen. Thanks for enlightening! 😄

Awesome, hope you had a good time in the programme! We’ll be sure to check it out! 😍
Have they confirmed it's Eli doing the backup bass? AFAIK it's just Geoff recorded twice and Eli miming in their videos.
It has to be Geoff i guess, you can hear it on his tone :)
In the interviews that Geoff and Layne did with Elizabeth of Charismatic Voice, one of them (I don't remember which) said it's usually Eli.
@@Aurora-cv5to yeah , he could do some basslines with his range, but mostly its geoff. You can hear that in the karaoke track ass well.
I know they sometimes double track but I also didn’t want to assume that Eli hadn’t suddenly found his bass range 😆
@@Aurora-cv5to I thought Eli only ever does bass live, not videos? At least he didn't in Moana

Geoff's 41st Birthday is coming up next month. Ashley is a friend of Cesar's.
Interesting! Sometimes he doesn’t look his age, honestly 😝
Geoff's birthday was a couple days ago, so yes, he is older hehehee.

marvelous!
That one part does kinda sound like Royals! And the "do do do's" in the background at 6:41 sound like Can't Sleep Love
OMG it does! 😱
Geoff actually dyes his hair to not show his gray hair
Used to, anyway! He said he stopped dying his hair once the pandemic started. Doubt he'll go back
that wasn't eli that was geoff double tracked
