My mom gave me this music for Christmas. Two music cassettes with Mozart various pieces. I was 14 back then, my father has just left us, we had little money and that winter was poor. I used to listen to this a lot. This music brought me joy in ways I didn't realize. 30 years later I am listening to it now, sitting at my fireplace, with my two young daughters at my feet and my eyes fill with tears I don't know why.

I always inagine the prima, the theatre back then, the noises behind the curtains, the sound of voices and the looks of moments and people we will never see and hear. If I close my eyes I am right there, looking down at Wolfie at the keyboard, moving his big head and hands. I see the candles lit, I hold the libretto freshly printed. I am ready.

Seeing the entire score made listening so much more fun I followed the violincello and enjoyed.
Such good intonations of the mysicians

What a marvelous operatic overture. Saw this opera at the Lyric Opera House in Chicago some 15 years ago.

1:42 sound like his Symphony no 41

Suprisingly nice for how weirdly „unknown“ it is

Better than Don Giovanni imo (except the introduction of course)

It's mostly obscure because many people consider the libretto misogynistic, confusing, and dramatically weak. Whatever they may think of the words, there is no denying the absolute brilliance and splendor of Mozart's score.

    A rather Schubert-esque overture, I must say.
