The southern Appalachian region of north Georgia holds some of the best trout fishing in the south. There, casting for giant rainbows immersed in the old growth forests, one quickly forgets the hustle and bustle of Atlanta is just over an hour away. Most notably in winter, when so many fisheries across the country are closed for business, fishing here can be at its best! We joined guide Daniel Massingale as he introduced pent-up northerner Landon Brasseur to the outstanding small creek fly fishing in the Blue Ridge area, offering him a much needed recess from his cabin fever. #BluffLineMedia #FlyFishing #BlueRidgeGA

It’s an awesome place to visit. Great fly fishing. Not a lot of wild trout, a lot of stocked trout. Coopers Creek, Rock Creek, and Noontootla Creek. Can’t forget the lower Toccoa River below the dam.

As someone who has fished with Daniel several times I can honestly say he lives and breathes trout fishing. Actually fishing with him tomorrow in Blue Ridge lol. This video dropped at the perfect time to remind fisherman of all skill levels to take care of local guides and fly shops after this pandemic has slowed business down so much for them. Anyway, cheers, y’all!

Be advised. To catch trout that size in GA you will have to fish PRIVATE water.

I agree, kinda misleading to the normal angler. Fish like that don’t exist in public water around here let’s be real.

Ted Turner’s property lol…..no for real though guys, excellent video, I absolutely love the area, up in NH where I live we have 4 rivers all within 5 miles of each other that have no closed season to fly fishing, C&R. Due to the fact that the stocking is funded privately, we get a ton of very nice fish, including giant brook trout and steelhead strain rainbows. For situations where this type of fishery can happen it definitely should as I’ve seen my local river get stocked once in the spring to fly shops opening in town and folks with waders at waist in line at Dunks, it’s great to see a recreational program change the human environment.

I challenge ANYONE to find a location in America where cost-of-living compared to the surroundings you get for it, is a better value than North Georgia. Gorgeous lush nature and mountains, beautiful streams and fishing, mild short winters, reasonable summers, and on top of all that, TONS of cute towns like Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Helen, Dahlonega, etc. Fairly low crime, great people, I mean what's not to love? And on top of that, you can get a home in North Georgia for like 350k that's a pretty nice home. 500k gets you a lovely home. Just a great value location in America.

Well filmed and put together video. Glad to see my boy Eric Hurst getting some love. Just wish people would be truthful about north Georgia trout fishing. Georgia CANNOT produce fish of this caliber naturally due to extremely poor geology. ALL of the fish in this film are pellet fed pet trout. Source: guide in the area
If you want big wild trout, gotta go to the Chattahoochee in Georgia, otherwise go to another state.

Daniel Massingale an I have become friends via Social Media and have yet had the opportunity to meet in person .. We had a fishing trip planned this past April 6th but had to cancel due to this craziness going on with Covid-19 ... We will work out a date soon and sling some line together ... I can't wait to have the opportunity to fish with my friend ... Again Great Video!!

Lived in GA and fished these areas a lot. Video is awesome but definitely misleading. These are private waters with stocked trout that are on feeders and stay in certain areas. When you fish the public areas, you’re back to catching normal size trout, 8-12 inches. The real trophy is getting the few wild rainbows and native brookies to eat. They are small but the colors will blow your mind.

I live in the north Georgia mountains. 99.9% of fish that size are on private heavily stocked catch and release sections. It’s pretty rare you’ll catch any that size on public waters here. Probably 99% of the trout you catch will be around 10” stockers. This video is misleading 😂😂😂
