I was recently introduced to this house courtesy of Rafinad Parfumerie, they included two free samples of Under my Skin and The Lovers Tale with my order.
I never really had dug into animalics (besides Kouros) until now on my journey in this hobby, but Francesca Bianchi blew the doors open for me. Already she's composing the two with notes I enjoy: Orris and Leather, but her use of the Castoreum is so carnally seductive it threw me for a loop.
TLT definitely has dirtier leathery animalic nuances, which will turn some off for sure, but I honestly can't get enough of it. There's definitely a dustiness in the Castoreum used in both, subdued only by the light creamy earthiness of the orris butter. And to cap it all off, all of her creations are Extrait concentration, and she means it! These both lasted well into the 12hr range on skin, with the musk and leather leaving a slightly dusty but unmistakably leathery nuance.
Definitely will be purchasing a 50ml of TLT at some point, love love this house :)

Sex and the sea is quite remarkable on me.....very pungent pineapple, beachy and animalic. I didnt think I would enjoy as much as I do. So glad I went out of my comfort zone and got it.

I'm quite nervous because this week my discovery set will arrive and animalic notes aren't safe for me at all. Me knowing these perfumes tend to have animalic notes and ordering them xD... Great video!
You did the right thing by getting a discovery sample. Give them time as you test them out and I’m sure you’ll like a few. Cheers.

I'm smelling a sample of Under The Skin now. I like it but in didn't wow me. I have a dabber and I wonder if that's the issue. Sex and the Sea is coconut, pineapple and salt. I like it but it's too safe for me. I need a dirty edge
Thanks for watching….You have to spend some time with her fragrances I’ve noticed. Lately I’m feeling The Dark Side…Yea Sex and the Sea is safe and I’m not looking for her fragrances for safe scents tbh. Etruscan water is nice too.
I'm not trying to hate but I've also purchased the discovery set and so far I'm not impressed. I've tried 7 out of 12 so far and all of them have a similar "dirty" smell. Some more powdery some more like a wet basement. None have been anything but mediocre to me. Maybe it's just not my type of fragrance or I recieved a bad batch I don't know. As I tried every fragrance I noted down words for every one of them: soapey, smokey powdery, dirty, dusty, senile, cold, suffocating, oriental, citrus, incense. Then I hit Sex and the Sea. Complete opposite of everything I tried so far like a 180° turn on composition. I'll try the rest of them and edit this comment.
Thank you for your thoughts! Her fragrances are not for everyone. You did the right thing by sampling. However, give it time and keep testing. You might enjoy a few others. Also they might not be your style or taste in general.

@TomL - I find it ever so fascinating how people react to certain scents & the wide variation within the pictures, memories that come to mind. My skin eats fragrance no matter how moisturised my skin is (even w/ Vaseline!) so your descriptions are the types of scents that I not only love because I can *actually* smell *my* frag + I love those notes as they bring very happy, fond memories; but those notes you describe get the most compliments on me! I fully admit I have a very strange body chemistry as people pick out the “dirty” notes that even smell “dirty’ to me but to them smell amazing, pleasing, start having fond amazing memories! I’d really love to hear how you got on with the rest! Have a lovely weekend!
