Yeah I can definitely relate to that. I had the painful experience of checking in my camera with my lens attached! Stupid mistake, the lens came out broken, even when it was in a proper camera bag! Always bring your camera gear in your carry-on!
Thanks for the tips. Sometimes I wonder if I can carry-on the tripod because the feet has spikes and can be considered a weapon? Last time I just placed it in my check-in luggage.
I think that if you can hide the tripod, you’ll be able to get away with it in a carry on. I personally don’t even try anymore. It just goes in my checked bag.
Nice video. I was able to travel with my monopod. I recently switched to a very light compact tripod/monopod that I hope will reduce the footprint at boarding.
I ended up getting the Mavic Air because it was even smaller. I like it but ultimately have decided to largely quit droning for the most part. Drone regulations are making things complicated and the process of carrying one is a hassle to me in general, so at the end of the day, it just wasn't worth it.
That's kind of a grey area. I know some airlines list camera bags as a separate item, but if you take a carry on, a backpack AND the camera bag, then that may be too much. But this all depends on how big each bag is. If every bag is under the recommended size, then that's probably ok. If the carryon is maximum recommended size, then the backpack is the size of a carryon, then you have a big DSLR bag, then someone will likely stop you. Again, it's a grey area and you'll just have to choose the bag sizes wisely.
Batteries can't be checked so they either have to be in your carry on or somewhere with you in the cabin. I generally have a bag that I keep all of my batteries in.
In the UK at least, tripods and monopods are completely banned as carry-on baggage. Don't even try concealing it in a bag as it will stick out like a sore thumb in the x-ray and they would then have the power to both prosecute you and confiscate your tripod, although unlikely that they would go that far if you're a first-time offender. I bought a Vanguard Veo travel tripod, weighs only 1.5 kg, very stable, 8kg capacity, and fits easily inside my checked bag.
That's surprising to hear. Either way, I don't even bother with a tripod in the carry-on anymore. It's always checked. This would be more of a problem for those who only travel with a carry-on.
What airlines do you travel with? Have you had experience with Lufthansa and the Lowepro backpack? Currently for this airline (August '18) this size is allowed: max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm. The bag sizes 48.8 x 34.8 x 27 cm. Do you think this will be a serious problem because of 4 cm to much in width?
I have flown Lufthansa but didn't bring a lot of camera gear on that trip. I only brought one camera and one lens so didn't have to worry about it. I also didn't bring my Lowepro Protactic bag on that trip. As far as being too big, the bag isn't rigged so I think you can squish it by 4cm without much of a problem.
I travel to Bangkok often. When connecting through some parts of China and Korea they will make you check your tripod before you make it to the boarding area. They actually put it in a box for me and it came off the plane with my luggage. I asked why I was not allowed to bring it on board and the said that actually they don't even let them inside the terminal because it can be used as a weapon. Especially tripods with spikes. They took mine as I was coming through customs and getting screened a second time inside the airport.
I agree. But a good sharp spike can do some damage. Like the single spike on the Sirui monopod. Just wondering??? Have you played with the Sony 10mm to 18mm f4 yet?
You have to remember, those breakable box cutters are also allowed through TSA and onto the planes. I have not used the 10-18 yet. I personally invest my money in full frame lenses because I use the a7rii much more while traveling/every day use. I usually use the 16-35 f4 fe lens on my apsc bodies.
Would you consider making a video handling drone permits in guam and vietnam? I went to this website: uavsystemsinternational.com/drone-laws-by-country/vietnam-drone-laws/ and was given 3 PDFs, 1 was to be filled out. Any additional information you could share about the drone permit process would be awesome. Thanks in advance.
I personally don't have a drone license. I just fly mine and no one ever really says anything. Sometimes law enforcements will stop by and tell me to put it away but that's about it. I was at Ritidian Beach in Guam and this was what the beach police did because we were close to the airforce base. When I travel to other countries like Vietnam, most people want to see it more than anything because it's not really a common thing. Most people there can't afford leisures like that so they get really excited to see it. I'm by no means telling you to follow my footsteps, but that's just my experience.

I think I would only check my gear if it was in one of my Pelican cases. It's unfortunate to hear about your camera though.

That's good to hear and good to know for future reference!
Very helpful! I'm hesitant on bringing my phantom.
Think about it before you do or you may be dragging around extra weight for nothing!
Hi Hai, Did you buy the Mavic Pro.? Are you happy with it? Cheers from Australia!

Thanks for the tips great info.
You’re welcome!
Did you pay custom duty on your gear?
No, I already owned everything.
Thanks for video!
You’re welcome! Have fun traveling 👍🏽
1. Can I being a dslr in a backpack
2. Also can i film in the airport and airplane?
You can do whatever you want, just don’t get caught. Most stewardess will stop you if they see you filming them or other people.
@@HaiTran oh ok so I can film myself but not other people
You'll have a better chance when filming yourself but you're at the mercy of the airline. It doesn't hurt to try.
Great video.
Thanks a lot 👍🏽
It was Really Helpful. Thanks for the information.
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.

Hai Tran my backpack and camera bag are just small. Thank you!
Good luck 👍🏽
Nice video :) Sir , How do you carry your batteries & power banks ?
Batteries can't be checked so they either have to be in your carry on or somewhere with you in the cabin. I generally have a bag that I keep all of my batteries in.
Thank you sir :) Do you have them ( camera batteries especially) in full charge ? or 20% charge or so
I keep them as close to 100% as possible.
Thank you So much Sir :) quite a relief :)
No problem! Good luck on your travels 👍
May i knw how to check the PNR status of Go Air Flight.Till now I have not find any website..plss hlp me
Unfortunately, I don’t even know what it is that you’re asking so I can’t help you.
Okkk bro
Good luck finding the answer.
Great video bro, thanks for the tips. I just subbed!
Thanks a lot for the support bro 👍🏽
I was wondering if I could bring my GoPro with its accessories in my backpack
I don’t see why not if it fits the airline carryon requirements.
Hai Tran because I’m afraid to put them in my suitcase and they would get stolen
That would be a decision that you would have to decide on. Good luck with your travels.
Hai Tran thanks so much bro
No problem 👍🏽

can I carry a backpack (personal item) + dslr camera?
I'm a bit confused by your question. So you want to carry a backpack as your personal item and a camera separately, as in handholding?
yes, for the laptop.
That shouldn't be a problem as long as your personal item doesn't overtly exceed size requirements.
What airlines do you travel with? Have you had experience with Lufthansa and the Lowepro backpack?

Ahh so you had a similar situation. I'm just saying if someone wanted to hurt people enough, anything can be used as a weapon.

Can I carry DSLR Camera on Hand Baggage..?
As in a woman's hand bag (purse) or a hand bag that's considered carryon/personal item?
@@HaiTran okk..it can take also in camera bag as a cabin bag
Yes
Do i need to remve all lens n batteries during security check in?
Not unless security requires it.
Maybe a bamboo tripod would avoid it being checked!
That may be the answer! The functionality of the tripod would be questionable though 🙄
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I take it you’ve now moved onto The Mavic pro or Air ✈️👍
Not yet! There’s rumor of a new Mavic Pro coming soon and I’m waiting for that!
