    Hello Sandra thank you for the information. I need help ! I have a BS in Cyber and Data Security. I’m interested in CEH and SOC Analyst firstly. I try studying for security + but get sidetracked easily and work in healthcare for now. Is there a course that I can take that will perhaps help me pass security + and earn me an SOC level certification? Thank you

  • @midknightmiddleman5887

    Folks please keep in mind: a simple Bootcamp will NOT solve your issue of not finding a job in cybersecurity. The GUARANTEED way, if that’s what you want to call it, is to climb the IT ladder. Namely:
    IT ➡️ Networking ➡️ Cybersecurity
    If you walk into a bootcamp expecting to get a SOC level job role in the end, I feel bad for you. Bootcamps by design are not meant to FIND you a job in this field. My recommendation is to find an entry level IT role and if you want to apply for a Bootcamp, go right ahead and network as much as you can once you’re on the inside 👍

    • @Amirsol55
      @Amirsol55 4 месяца назад +1

      Capslock offer a great course structure and certification and I know many people who have secured roles in cyber security whether its as a consultant or analyst...though not specifically SOC positions there is a guarantee in landing a role in Cyber Security.

    • @midknightmiddleman5887
      @midknightmiddleman5887 4 месяца назад +1

      @@Amirsol55every Bootcamp will say they “guarantee” a job in the end. They say that to make it easier for you to sign up and above all, pay up. There will be like 30 other students there who will graduate as well. You think all 30 of you are going to end up finding jobs? In the end, it’s not up to the Bootcamp. It’s up to the employers whether you get hired or not. You have to see it coming. The best way to do so is to learn skills that will set you apart from the rest. Also, try applying as soon as possible. If you want to join a Bootcamp, go ahead. Take advantage of their career services, that could help you a lot. But always keep in mind, they don’t find you jobs. They don’t get you hired. They can facilitate job hunting to an extent. They are primarily an institution whose goal is to make money

    What’s your opinion on the tech industry nowadays? People are saying it’s in shambles mentioning pay, AI, hiring process, etc.. Has me second guessing while studying for CompTIA…

    • @WithSandra
      @WithSandra  4 месяца назад +5

      There's been another big round of layoffs for tech the past few weeks so it's definitely rough. This hasn't been impacting cybersecurity nearly as much as it has for SWE or areas in tech that may have a higher risk of being automated, which may potentially be more analytics roles from what I've seen. Cybersecurity's issue is mostly around the high barrier to entry for beginner jobs because HR just hasnt caught up with the times and then complain about "not enough talent" lol the industry has its fair share of issues but it's still one of the better career options with high pay and good growth. Hope this helps, best of luck studying and figuring out the right path for you!

    Heard a lot of people are having a difficult time finding a job in cyber security cause companies are requiring a lot of experience and some have age discrimination, that true?

    • @midknightmiddleman5887
      @midknightmiddleman5887 4 месяца назад +1

      People have a hard time because most have never worked in an enterprise environment or even had experience in IT. A simple Bootcamp or college course won’t solve this. Apply for an entry level IT job and begin networking once you’re inside. Keep practicing your cyber security skills and offer this help to a cyber security team if possible. One of the surest ways of working in this field 👍

    Do u know any GI Bill supported boot camps?

    • @LoveFactorySweatShop
      @LoveFactorySweatShop 4 месяца назад

      Use your GI bill for a degree. These boot camps are scams. Even someone with a Bachelors in Cyber Security most likely won't find a cyber security job straight out of college.

  • @zach.intech
    @zach.intech 4 месяца назад

    How many of these roles are out there? See I believe tech is over saturated especially for entry level. I’m confused 😅

    • @midknightmiddleman5887
      @midknightmiddleman5887 4 месяца назад +1

      See, the issue is most people can’t find a job in cyber security because they don’t have experience in IT in general. Or they don’t have experience in any enterprise environment. A simple college degree or Bootcamp certification won’t solve this. My recommendation is to apply the concept of the low hanging fruit: can’t get a job in cybersecurity? Try a networking specialist role. Can’t get that? Try an IT specialist role. Do whatever you need to do to get in this environment. There’s no “trick” to this. If you keep trying to find one, you’ll end up wasting lots of time and money

      I appreciate this comment a lot actually LOL, but what you might really like is the IS2 CC cert - www.isc2.org/certifications/cc It's becoming very popular, some compare it to the Security+ AND theyre giving you free training and exam-fee waived! this'll be just as good if not better than another course online. I'd say these are pretty typical price for a cyber security bootcamp, definitely cheaper than a college degree. If someone wanted a lower cost path into cybersecurity, courses + certs would be another option but would be less structured learning
