  • Episode 3 of my 'Journey to the London Marathon 2024'.
As I embark on my training for the London marathon ...my 4th marathon and 3rd in 18 months, I share an insight into my training plan and session breakdown. I also chat through the goal I am workings towards and it's a big one this time. What do you think, can I do it?! Let me know in the comments if there is anything I should be adding to my plan and if you think I can hit that target.

That downward dog pose that greets you at the front door is the perfect finish. #moreriggs

Best of luck with the marathon training. I like the fact that you have 3 strength sessions to go with the weekly runs. Keep those injuries at bay 💪🙂

Thank you, and thanks for watching! Definitely agree with the strength sessions, it has been my downfall in the past but determined to keep committed to them this time! 👏🏻

Great vlog! Good luck - I’m aiming for a similar time on the day, so may see you smashing the sub 3:45! 😊

Awesome work Maisie! I'm the same, I need to work on my leg strength too as it's a constant source of trouble in that last 10k. Your dog looks amazing ❤❤❤️

Thanks Andy! Really agree, my last marathon block was very strength focussed and my legs felt strong the whole way, and I kept pretty good form! Other times my legs have felt bettered from 18/19 miles!! Ahh Riggs is a very good boy 🫶🏻 Thanks for watching!

RUclips just suggested this video and it’s so nice! You’re so natural and ‘normal’. I’m also running London (hopefully as I have PF …). Good luck in training

Great job Maisie - good to have goals that push you a little but are still achievable. A great start to the training block! 💪💪

Love the 4 weeks cycles with a cutback week and since doing it training for a half a few years ago i do this even when base training as it just suits me. I ran my first marathon last year in 5 or 6 minutes under the 4 hour mark and had planned to pace it much like you did that last one, however got carried away early, threw the plan away and pretty much did the exact opposite with pace dropping right off in last 6 miles! Sure you will smash it,good luck.

The cut back weeks are great; good for physical recovery, but mentally also nice to have a few lighter weeks in the plan too! Oh no, I hope I don’t do that this time, I imagine that made for a painful second half for you 🫣 thanks for watching!

@@maisie_runs As i was nearly 50 and only been running just over 2 years running a marathon was challenge enough without pressure of a specific target. So i just trained in Zone 2 for most of my long runs upto 23 miles but with a faster finish for last 6 or 7 miles and my plan was z2 for half, then a bit quicker then see how i felt 20 miles on. My hip and knee really hurt bad from 19 miles(only 1.5 miles to home!) and i allowed myself to walk a fair bit, looked round at everyone finishing after me and they looked like they gave more..Cant shake the feeling that i bottled it and accepted the sub 4 as a good result to easily instead of pushing myself. Pride hurt more than anything but hopefully i can do better next time whenever that may be.

Hi! Thanks for watching! Currently I am on week 2/16 and this week is 24 miles/39km, for the first 5 weeks it sits between 20-25miles approx, but then starts to increase more. I’ve always struggled as the mileage creeps up, and this block is planned to be the highest weekly mileage I’ve ever done…so will share updates on how this goes!
