I just love how you sweetly, with your soft spoken way, simply go through everything I need to know without a lot of showiness. Not sure how to say that, I hope you know what I mean. It's refreshing. I just love this plant! I have three of them, one is doing great and the other two are faded and dull with lots of dried up fronds I have now cleaned out. But this is why I needed to find this video as I had no idea what was going on but now I have some great information to go on. Thank you so much!
Thank you! I recently did a houseplant cuttings trade and I received a large handful of these rhizomes with fronds! This plant has been on my wishlist for ages. I appreciate the clear and concise instructions for propagating this plant. Thank you again! 🙂
Thank you for the helpful tips! Very informative. I have a large hanging rabbit’s fern, I bought because of it’s quirky appearance. I have had it for about a 5 months and notice yellowing and drooping of the leaves. Bringing it indoors for more attentive care. Stay safe out there and cheers!
Thank you so much! What a lovely plant and well-rounded plant-care video! I just bought some of these. they are very little so I will gather them in a pot together for the time being. i'll transplant when they start to get bigger, but for now, they'll have some company! Thank you for such a lovely video!
Hi Nanette - aw thank you so much for the lovely comment - i really appreciate it! pleased you found the video helpful! your baby rabbit root feet sound adorable!
I’m glad you ended up getting one of these! I know you wanted one for ages and it’s the perfect plant for you! 😊😊 you’ve done so well with it too! A year and hardly a brown leaf to be seen! 😯
its the creepy tarauntula legs that appeal to me!! thanks so much - there have been a couple of brown leaves but the fern is super easy to take care of. I reckon he could be a bit bigger but I've just kept him in his nursery pot
Good morning from Texas :) (1:30am) Jessy I just stumbled on your channel, and subscribed. Just bought one of these ferns tonight. I named it Victoria. Thank you so much for the care video. Very I structive with a lot of great information
Thanks Jess, I remember when you first got this. It's thriving and so big. I love epiphytic plants! And just an interesting fact I researched the humidity of Sydney and it's actually around 50-70% all year!
Aw you've got such a good memory!! Oh thanks so much! i actually should've researched it myself - I hadn't realised that the humidity was around that range even in winter!
@@jessypotplants, yeah humidity in Sydney is meant to be because the direction of the wind blows over the Sydney harbour, botany bay and beaches to the city. Otherwise, it wouldn't be humid- it's because of the direction of the wind over the water. And Feb is meant to be the most humid month of the year.
I’m really glad I watched your video on the rabbits foot fern. Mine is still a baby and I’ve lost quite a few of it’s prawns , of course I thought it’s because it wasn’t getting enough water, but now I’m sure it’s due to too much water. Once again thank you for all your information regarding this fern, they most certainly are one of my favorites 😉
I love my rabbit foot fern! I live in Canada and even with our super dry winters, it still does so well! Ive even forgotten to water it for like 2 weeks and it's still fine 😂
Just found your channel and really enjoy how packed with info you videos are. I am a little wary of ferns but have totally fallen for my fast growing & perky looking Blue Star fern. The Rabbit Foots fern reminds me of the Maiden Hair, but might be easier to care for here in Adelaide where summers are very dry, so it’s now on my list to purchase along with the Kangaroo Paw fern. Thanks, Jess, I’m now a new subscriber 😊🌱
Oh wow that's so interesting! I've never seen a rabbit's foot fern - the name just sounds too adorable and you had me at rabbit 🐇🐰 😍 thanks for introducing us to these new plants! 👍 Looking forward to seeing more!
haha and ofc you and bunnies! How is eddie btw? Hope hes doing ok. You're most welcome although appreciate some of the plants i've got are a little bit weirder 😅
@@jessypotplantsaw thank you for asking Eddie is going well at eleven years 💕and yasss I love learning about all these new plants! I went plant shopping with my mum today and she got a few things including a needlepoint ivy! 💚
First off, you are adorable. No homo. lol. Second, I just bought one of these today and I'm scared to kill it. I love ferns, but I hate the way they shred. I'm in humid Florida, so I hope it survives. Hoping to find some good tips. Thank you!
Oh yay thanks for this! I love the look of ferns but I'm petrified of them because of how temperamental they can be, so I've only got a bird's nest fern and blue star fern... But I'll definitely be picking up a rabbit's foot after this, glad to know it one of the less fussy ferns :)
I’m the same with my fear of ferns! I have recently acquired two ferns and so far they’re going okay... and after watching this I’m feeling tempted by the fuzzy feet! 😂🐰
looking forward to when you pick one of these guys up! i think its a great conversation starter as well! ive had a couple of friends think they were actually tarantula legs!!
Meanwhile this for some reason has by and far been the most difficult plant I've ever worked with. I just cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong and almost all of its fonds have entirely disappeared. I've had it it for almost two months and it's nearly leafless, and what leaves are there are all blacking at tips and ultimately withering before any of the fronds ever get to fully grow. New fronds still forming but nevertheless keep meeting this fate! Gets lots of bright indirect light from all directions (and it's June as of writing this), watered only when dry, I keep it near a sink for humidity, I've given it some plant food, temps are kept at high 60s to mid 70s F... I don't get what I'm doing wrong.
Aw thanks so much Margo! where abouts are you? i really appreciate it! ah that sounds like a good idea!! Ive actually got footage of some pest damage that i thought would be useful to share!
I rescued this gigantic plant, must have had a kilo or two of rhizomes i had to cut off but only a few left alive, and it had a bit of growth but its just stopped growing and i see no new leaves or green growth. I keep it regularly moist, in light but not direct, with a giant well draining pot and its about 23 degrees here indoors rn... but its not doing so well :( idk what to do!
Hi Jessy so happy I found your video thank you!! I absolutely LOVE ferns and I've always wanted a Rabbit's foot fern!! I purchased one in May at Whole Foods, not knowing it was this specific plant YAY lol!! But I haven't repotted it because I was afraid of killing it but it's actually doing great!! I finally want to repot him today because it's soil is really firm and dries out to fast!! Thank you again Jessy!! Btw, being that it's an epyphite, can this plant be planted with Phalaenopsis Orchids? And can it be used in closed terrariums?🌱💖🥰
Hey Aida! Aw thank you so much for stopping by my channel and you are so kind - reading your comment on rainy Sunday afternoon has definitely made my day so thank you! Yay for your rabbit foot fern growing!! I'm not sure if I would keep it together with the orchid just because I'm not familiar with taking care of orchids (and am under the impression they require specific care!) I think the fern can be kept in a terrarium but you need to air it out otherwise the furry rhizomes would be susceptible to mould. Hope this helps!
Very interesting. We have a very large Rabbits foot fern. Suggestion, turn off the background music. With music playing over your voice it is difficult understanding you. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus the music quickly becomes intrusive and annoying.
leaves on mine are turning yellow meaning too much water, it's little feet are brown meaning not enough water/humidity....oh this little bugger is telling me two different things

Ooh, I love how you can make more rabbits from the feet! Finally, an easily propagatable fern! >o
