What a great show that must have been! You did a great job filming it. I especially liked how you zoomed in close and showed the textures and marks. I think that looking at all that art actually got me a little high.

a lot of "neat" art, I don't know I don't know, I feel that contemporary art usually from the first world is like empty, it doesn't have much to say, to tell, I don't see stories, I don't see drama, I see everything as decorative, unless That is the intention of this fair, which I doubt

I say this each time I see one of these gallery shows. Installations and decorative pieces are NOT fine art. A gallery for either of those is OK but not with fine art. Also, in a gallery, I would like to see at least 100 pieces from one artist displayed. Then we can see if are a fine artist and consistent in content and evolution, or just wasting materials.

Соглашусь. Редко увидишь работы имеющии художественную ценность. Уровень художников низок, что не скажешь о работах прикладного искусства ,где очевидно хотя бы знание технологии. Неужели уровень художественного образования сканился до уровня подмастерия? Не допустите русских художников в свои галереи - они в момент вытеснят подобных творцов. Зрителя не обманишь, ибо выживает лишь гармония.

@coz-DS Such rigid boundaries, dividing fine art from craft from installations from decorative, are increasingly immaterial. And have been for the past 50 years or more. (Btw, it’s not possible for art markets to show installations, since by definition they are enormous.) It’s readily apparent to anyone who’s paying attention that most viewers have diverse tastes. That’s why art markets like this one are popular. Where are these imaginary galleries that have the room to show 100 pieces? Or for that matter, galleries that can afford to focus on one kind of work? Mostly though, you keep complaining about all this because you don’t understand shit about contemporary art and nobody cares WHAT you think.
A a fine art painter I agree with you in theory but, 100 pieces in a single gallery? Do you ave any concept of how long it takes a fine art painter to paint 100 pieces, even if that painter is no longer alive and your talking about a retrospective. Often we paint over old paintings, recycle stretcher bars, and I purposely pick out several paintings of mine that I don’t like each year and destroy them with a box knife in the belief that their destruction will catalyze creative renewal. Especially since our (mine at least) standards for what I am willing to put out there are likely far higher than yours or anybody else’s. I’m not a fan of fine art galleries displaying what I see as crafty, but who am I to say what is and isn’t “fine art.” So far as your use of the term “decorative,” as a pejorative is nothing more than an insult to a person you never met, who had worked hard to create it, get a gallery to agree to show it, and this isn’t even to mention the enormous financial investment of gallery owners. It’s fine if you don’t like an artist’s work, but I don’t understand people’s need to insult the producers of things they personally don’t like. Why not just say something along the lines of, I’ve been to a lot of gallery shows and never seen anything that I liked?
Besides, I don’t know of any gallery that could physically display 100 paintings of an artist’s works, unless maybe if the works were small and a gallerist chose to display work in a salon style. I personally don’t like my art hanging in a salon style but that doesn’t stop me from doing so. Anyway, lots of people like and don’t like my work or even my words. It goes with the territory whenever and however a person puts themself out there for judgement.
