Hi Jason. I am also in Australia. I have just bought an EV 50M and found your setup video really helpful. I would have liked to see more about how you set up your electric guitar to it via your pedal board. Presumably, you just connect your pedal board to the line of the EV 50M that you said you setup in the flat mode and control all its sounds by simply using the guitar controls and the pedals, but I guess you can still do the final volume mix intermingled with all the other inputs going into the Evolve 50M, using the EV APP.
Just ordered mine. I'm also a solo acoustic performer in FL! I play a lot in Melbourne, Palm Bay, Vero, Cocoa, etc. Very helpful video, can't wait til it gets here.
Hi Jason, thanks for all your vids, love you're work and all you put out there mate. I have the 50m and for the most part, absolutely love the unit - how it sounds, the user interface etc. but I've encountered an issue that's got me quite concerned. On two occasions (one solo gig, one band gig), the unit has suddenly shut off and been unable to stay powered on. First incident was at a solo gig, I had my pedal board (guitar and vocals) and a stomp running into 3x separate inputs, sound check was fine then I returned to find it had shut down, I reset it, tried putting it on its own power supply direct from the venues (dual power point but the adjacent 240v plug, I'm in Australia) but wasn't able to get it to stay on. I did notice once that when I unmuted guitar from my tc helicon play acoustic the 50m shut off at the same time (not sure if its related). I ended up having to use my bose s1 pro for the whole gig, which worked just fine. I then tested the 50m at home the next day, exact same rig and it work perfectly for hours without a single glitch. I then used it at another solo gig a couple of days later, different venue and it performed without any issues. Second incident was a 4pce band gig on the weekend (2x guitars, bass, kick drum, 3x vocals). I was running it from the aux out from my soundcraft ui16, using it as a monitor and it worked for a bit but again, couldn't manage to keep itself on. It was sharing a power source with a number of other items but I didn't have time to troubleshoot so again I had to abandon it and rely on the s1 pro, which pushed through. I'm thinking it must either be a fault with the unit or it's really delicate with power source fluctuations (if that's even a thing, I've used it at a home and two other venues where it worked perfectly), causing it to shut off maybe as a safety feature. I haven't been able to find any shared experiences on the net so far. Hoping you or anyone else might be able to share some knowledge or advice on what I could do to make sure I can rely on this unit for gigs and to produce the sound I know it's capable of every time I use it. If you do get a chance, thanks for taking the time to read this and for your help
Very nice, simple set-up. I'd like to hear what it sounds like with his periferal sound enhancement units. As is, it sounded real clear and distinct, but too dry and not rich. Might be good to have some fine sounding speaker units in a surround sound type of setup like theater sound.
This is everything that I need in a PA. I was looking at the cheaper Harbinger linearray speakers but with the built in effects and Bluetooth mixing capabilities of this thing it is definitely worth the money! So you never have issues with hearing yourself without monitors with this setup?
I started out with the harbinger 1000 myself, I loved the set up and dispersion but it could sound better. I upgraded to the EV 30m and it's night and day. I sound better, the sounds are more level through the room, and my open mic is so quick to set up. I'd recommend 30m if you are indoors gigging in normal rooms, 50m if you're primarily outside. I don't think there are any other upgrades on the market when you correlate sound and ease of set up
You can actually use either one. The mix out will give you the same as what you're hearing from your mains. I believe the aux out will give you control over that specific monitor mix
I just got mine, unless I’m mistaken, in order for me to adjust my monitor via the auxiliary input, it will need to be an Electra voice, Bluetooth speaker, otherwise everything must be done manually?
I believe so. In my case for solo performances, I only use my EV floor monitor for certain gigs (I don't bother with it for the smaller venues). So I just need the main mix on my monitor. I think in a band situation, you may want to adjust the mix for the monitor mix, which in that case you may want to use a soundboard with the Evolve, especially if you have multiple monitoes for each band member. Hopefully that makes sense
Hi John, thank you for your enquiry. To handle your request appropriately, please can you specify your current location? Thanks - Ben, Electro-Voice Team.
Hi Mike, unfortunately we cannot provide “best settings” based on this description alone. A local sound technician would be required, who can make the specific adjustments on site depending on the multiple varying circumstantial factors. Thanks, we hope this helps. Clare- Electro-Voice Team
Hi Tim, thanks for your enquiry. Our portable speaker portfolio includes a complete lineup and will also include tripod-mounted speakers. You can check our portable speaker portfolio here: products.electrovoice.com/na/en/portable-speaker-families Many thanks - Peter, Electrovoice Team
Hi Tim, yes, this is my new setup! I had been using the EV ZLX 12BT speakers on stands, which are great. But the Evolve 50M has made my setup and tear down time much more convenient and also fits a lot better at my smaller venues that I play at.
I've just bought one and I'm disappointed in two things. First, the FX are set in stone, meaning you can't adjust delay times, feedback times, etc. Second, the way the different FX are assigned to either FX 1 or FX 2 means you cannot create the very standard setup of a reverb on one and a delay on the other. That's like mixer FX basics, and you CAN'T do it because FX 2 is all chorus and flanger, and other stuff not often used at all. For goodness' sake @EV Official, use a firmware update to shift some reverbs across to FX 2!
I bought an evolve 30m here in Brazil because of Jason's videos. The sound is incredible! Big hug 🤘
Just ordered me one! Thanks for the vid!

Hi many thanks.Whats the best settings for backing tracks and vocals Mike

Is this your new speaker for your future gigs? No more tripod mounted speakers? 😎

Can you get a separate mix for the monitor?
Yes via the dedicated aux out.
Yes in every input, there is an aux out level so you can push whatever you want to a monitor
