    This is soooo good. Thank you. At 60 I am healing from THREE relationships in which I was abused by a pathological narcissist. Root cause? A pathologically narcissistic mother. Yes. I am 60 and beginning my life anew. It can be done! I am healing. And it’s true. What doesn’t destroy you does make you stronger . . . with the help of these videos and by the grace of God I am healing!!!!

    ‘A child does not learn resilience unless they have at least 1 positive adult support.’
    THIS is what I’ve been sayingggggggg. Sometimes therapists try to convince you that you can develop resilience without connection to another human being. Not possible.
    I wish I could talk to somebody like Tim who really knows what they’re talking about when it comes to trauma. Because some of the things I’ve intuited and observed, do not make sense to other people.

    I wrote a play about Esther.
    Her being chosen was such a difficult part to write. I almost skipped it completely. Then I went to maybe It wasn’t that Esther that made wonderful but God in her. I also solved a problem for the king using Scripture. I made sure that she was honest that she borrowed the story from someone else. When it wasn’t how great Esther was but Esther’s God it wrote itself in 20 minutes

    THANK YOU!!! That’s what I’ve been saying for the longest time. Just because I lived through horrific things doesn’t make me resilient. I survive, but it’s not because I want to. I haven’t been taught resilience.

    This is quite interesting and a lot of important information so thank you. The sad part for me is that out of the list of 15 things I had none of them growing up in particularly as a little girl so this information will add to how I have had to re-parent myself over the years. I am very fortunate to have gotten into recovery at the age of 27 and I am now 62 and been clean for 35 years a day at a time. This information is so good for me and I will work through the sadness of not having anything on that list then but I can give all of that to myself now

    A lot of this sounds great except for the assumption that adults have support. How do we build resilience as adults if we don't have support?

    • @scottgrace
      @scottgrace 2 года назад +15

      Reach out and get support. Period. You may want to start with a 12 step group. They are free, and often meet on Zoom.

      What kind of support do you need ? Because if you are joinning a thérapie group you will find that. If you get a coach you will find support. You can get support with friends, family, people at work. But most of all, you need to be your first support, be your best friend is supporting your ownself ! ❤

      Sometimes that support is not just mental emotional support... At later stages in life there is a certain requirement or need for physical support, as in just being a helping hand and that is difficult unless you're hiring everything done.

    Some of these can be influenced by personality, health or genetic neurological factors (eg if someone had adhd) as well as cptsd. Often people with neurological conditions or who are highly sensitive did experience trauma as children so its sometimes hard to determine the primary cause & therefore how best to treat it.

    • @sarahalderman3126
      @sarahalderman3126 Год назад

      Very true. Some of us never had a chance. Life is not fair and there is no solution aside from death. God made certain of that when he chose to bless some and not others. Weird how people still think of god as a good thing when he is clearly evil. Intentionally hurting defenseless children is not exactly a “loving” decision. Nor is starving children, maiming them, butchering them, creating disabilities for them, creating them with deformities, or abusing them in countless ways.

    • @collegien1
      @collegien1 8 месяцев назад

      there’s an interesting video by patrick teahan on overlap between adhd and cptsd. there’s more and more evidence that all of these problems can be solved through cptsd approaches like reparenting. it is really tragic though, that all the innocent children had to go through this pain
