Nice! Rio Grand Cichlid. The only native cichlid to the USA. Native to southern Texas and northern Mexico.

@@stanleyfink2934 you are right about that. We have them here in Florida also. They are not on the kill list but I know they are in LA

Well I think we got our answer on if the trout were there!! 30 Bass, 2 sheepshead, 1 red, 6 ??, no trout….. But even though we didn’t find species we were looking for we had non stop action !)) it was a great morning!! Thks Boss!

As stated below, those are Rio Grande cichlids which are an invasive species. There are a lot in Violet canal too.

Small triple tails! 18" minimum size to keep. Caught one at Hopedale dam once about 10"'s. Good to see y'all were able to make it out today. What spell did you put on the Yamaha Nightmare Machine to make it start with one pull? (Did you run out gas last trip?!)

They are not triple tail, some kind of perch, someone told me it is illegal to throw them back, will send you text on it. Have no clue what Yamaha Nightmare Machined fired up with one pull, but me hope it keeps it up.

I think you are right, those are tripple tail. Although too small it’s good to see them there. Good action for hot summer day.
