Van Life In The Mountains (A Day in Banff Canada With Two Cats)

- Welcome back to our final Vanlife adventures In Banff Alberta! This week we left Banff and headed west to British Columbia. This is a typical, hiking, driving, and camping day with our two tortoise shell cats Lula & Sasha!

Crispy Tofu Breakfast Tacos Recipe:
Add 1/2 block of tofu (sliced) to a pad with 1 tbs of Avacado oil & taco seasoning fry until crispy.
Divide your crispy tofu between 4 flour tortillas
To the same pan add 1/4 onion, 1 clove of diced garlic, spinach (or kale), red peppers, & Justegg or similar substitute.
Top with you favorite Vegan Cheese alternative and enjoy!
Pad Thai Recipe:
1 pack of rice noodles (soaked 5-7 minutes in boiled water until soft but not fully cooked)
one block extra-firm tofu, cut thin and fried on both sides in 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
Pad Thai Sauce
4 tablespoons amino acids 2 tablespoon rice vinegar
3 tablespoons maple syrup 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice1 teaspoon Sriracha hot sauce (if you like spice)
Veg 1 cup julienne sliced carrots, about 3 carrots 3 green onions, chopped into 1 inch section and then sliced lengthwise
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
1/2 cup crushed peanuts1 cup mung bean sprouts, (optional)
1/2 cup sweet peas
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1/2 white onion diced
Fry tofu first! Don’t be scared to let it cook for a long time to get crispy. I like to pull it apart with a fork once cooked. Once cooked add the vegetables, sauce and noodles and cook down.
Garnish with green onion, crushed peanuts and fresh lime juice!

As a cat-person myself it's really refreshing to see people doing van life with cats rather than always having dogs. You show that it's just as doable. Even though Sasha running around while cooking is such a cat thing haha. I love how much you adore and smother the ladies. LOAF CHECK! Also, this video made me giggle so much!

Do whatever feels best. For both you individually as well as together and everything will be great. I enjoy watching Seth taking the camera and talking us through the day while Scarlet is doing her thing. While on the other hand I also enjoy it when Scarlet takes the lead and shows us around. For me it's mostly about you guys keeping it real and authentic and focus on what you enjoy and need in the moment. Whether that's a well deserved nap or a beautiful hike! No pressure from our side i'd say! Just enjoy the journey of life and the process of creating content in the meantime. All the best. 🙏

What I like the most about your videos is that you are both such decent people. I know that “stealth” isn’t, you know, strictly by the book, but you don’t do things others typically do, which is advise on how to break the rules. You don’t promote dumping your pee in the gutter or generally being destructive to beautiful areas, and then loudly justifying bad behavior by claiming that the sandwich you bought should pay for the damage. I live in a beautiful place, and I’ve seen plenty of disgusting things that I had to pay for with a raise in taxes and HOA fees. Your sandwich does nothing for me. But you two are just decent people. With great taste. I love your home! 😍
Thanks for leaving this kind comment! Honestly a lot of our motivation for being “good” in these environments is that we want them to remain accessible. Living full time this way we have learned very quickly that places that get abused get shut down. So you will never find us promoting anything but conservation for the spots that are still left!

I love that you can walk your cats. We tried to walk our cat and all he did was flop over and let us drag him around a little. Then we had to run for our lives because the town folk started grabbing pitch forks and torches over the whole spectacle. Then afterward the cat just cleaned himself aggressively as if to say, you should have known better than to try to salt my game. He actually prefers to ride around on our rotty's back like King of the Nile.
lesson learned.
That is hilarious! 😂 yeah we want to get her out more now that we are out of more popular spots. Unfortunately a lot of people walk with unleashed dogs even when leashes are required so we don’t feel like it’s worth risking her safety!

One of my favourite areas from Revelstoke is to take the Short Galena Bay ferry ride to Trout Lake, you should be able to boondock there. And then get back on the main road and go to Halcyon Hot Springs, Nakusp, Sandon, New Denver. Ainsworth Hot Springs is a definite must stop! They have the coolest caves. Enjoying your videos, keep up the awesome work, and safe travels 😀. Nelson is a beautiful town as well.

I like the pov in the videos! It’s refreshing to get a glimpse of the glamorous *and* not so glamorous reality (particularly showing the crowds) that’s often missed in vanlife, and I appreciate the realness. Keep doing what you’re doing - plus the imagery you capture is stunning and cats are adorable!
Oh and for the coconut coir, have you tried going to a Home Depot or Walmart Supercentre in Canada? They carry them in here in the US and may have luck to find it also in Canada

Just soaked them in boiled water for 4 minutes! It was incredible. There was a lot of people so it was a little tricky to shoot.

Amazing video, well done! It must not be easy to manage a whole video equipment in this weather and with so little light, really impressive and crazy quality! A little thought about the van and its energy costs: wouldn't it be more logical for the fridge in winter to be like in a box outside the van (like your van's garage) which would stay naturally cold thanks to the outside temperatures? It would save battery and space! Or would the food be instantly frozen?

I think if you had a lot of extra storage you could do something like this! The main downside would be having to go out into the cold to get food. Since the refrigerator is pretty efficient we don’t loose a ton of power there.

We’re editing the next video now and we talk a lot about the Starlink in that video so that’s perfect! Sasha hasn’t gotten as much outside time while it’s been raining (costal Canada) because she hates the rain 😂 but we have some great weather coming up so I’m sure we will film more with her outside!
