- Welcome to my tutorial for The Suicide Squad Javelin! I made this to go with my Harley Quinn cosplay :)
This tutorial will cover: -
1. Adding inserts to wooden dowels to make the javelin collapsible
2. Gluing wooden dowels together
3. Gluing PVC pipe to EVA foam
4. Bulking out wooden dowels with foam and foam clay
My pattern for The Suicide Squad javelin is available at www.etsy.com/u.... The files that you will receive include the template for transferring, design drawing and all the detail files. I cut these on a Cricut but you can also cut them by hand if you choose to.

5mm Foam
Foam Clay
M4 Inserts
M4 threaded rod
Gorilla Glue
Gorilla Epoxy Glue
Tools Used: -
Drill and assorted drill bits
Set Square
Fine Nib Pen
Steel Rule
Screwdriver
Hacksaw

File
Dremel
Heat gun
Rough sandpaper

Sanding Block
Safety Information: -
Please make sure you are safe if carrying out any of the steps in the video. For drilling and dremelling there are particles which will fly about so you need to ensure you cover your mouth and nose with a dust mask. Also protect your eyes with safety goggles/glasses as the particles can get in your eye. Additionally, you are using moving tools and need to think of a worst case scenario such as one of the bits comes loose. You should also wear suitable clothing and footwear.
When using glue please read the instructions. You might be using different glue from me hence why I haven't detailed safety instructions. They can vary - some require particular respirators for instance. In almost every instance you should use in a ventilated area and wear gloves if required.
Safety comes first always.
Can't wait to see all your javelins! The patterns for my javelin can be found at www.etsy.com/u...
Happy making!

So I’m America we don’t have 18 mm or 9mm dowel rod sizes we have 17 mm or 19 them 8mm or 10 mm should I go with the bigger one and go with an extra mm foam taken away or go with a smaller one and add a mm to the foam
Hey Austin! I'd recommend getting the full diameter (dowel with the base foam glued on, no detail) close to 30cm. So if you go with the 5mm foam and the 19mm dowel the diameter would be 29cm which could probably work. At that point I'd check the template against it and if you feel it's really off, put some 1mm around. Message me if you need more help, happy to assist! X
@@Myriadcosplay ok thank you so so much
30mm and 29mm even! (Not cm, I'm writing this from a train)
There's two different size templates too - a 28mm and 30mm so you could try both :)
this is such an awesome project! harley and the javelin was so iconic
