It's quite sad that Al never really figured out that Ed was always just thinking of the well-being of the animals that Al picked up, and the reason why may be even sadder, seeing as he had a better idea of what went into caring for the animals because Al's concept of hunger/thirst/pain/life was warped and he no longer had any idea of how to properly take care of a living being.

I don't why Edward doesn't want to keep the cat seeing they have the money plus the alchemy to have an easier time cleaning the litter box, and not to mention Edward is the only one be able to eat while Al is just a soul in a suit of armor.
I love how Al's "eyes" can actually get narrow at certain points.
