As many as 35.8 per cent of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay students registered for this year’s placements have yet to secure any jobs. Around 712 out of the 2000 registered students are yet to get any placements this season; reported Hindustan Times. Global IIT Alumni Support Group Dheeraj Singh has shared the data.
The placement season is underway and will continue till May. Officials told the news agency that for the first time, students from the computer science and engineering branch which usually sees a 100 per cent placement, have not been able to achieve the target this year. It is the most in-demand course at the institute.
As per the report, last year 32.8 per cent of the students were unable to secure any job. This year saw an increase of 2.8 per cent in students who have been unable to get placed yet. In 2023, out of the 2,209 registered students, 1,485 students were able to secure jobs. Officials from IIT-Bombay’s placement cell had said that due to the global economic meltdown, it had been difficult to invite companies for the placement season, the report added.

Just see the whole data 12.2% students go for higher studies as,10.3% students got jobs outside campus reference with IITB , 8.3% chooses public services, 1.6 % are startups,6.1% holding placement but looking forward to better outright, 4.3% not yet decided and 57.1% are placed, don't just go by headlines of news they are misleading
IITs should not be job seekers. They must be job providers. Leave 10 to 5 jobs for less qualified

Sometimes the magic of quota doesn't work. Moreover an IIT teaches many streams. Some of the streams have few takers as always. The timings of the publication of these statistics may find great acceptance among the people currently busy finding "LEVEL PLAYING FIELD".

AII will replace all jobs for real. So, the amount of junk knowledge that students by-heart each year will keep increasing exponentially. Education is important. But education system needs a revolution. Each student have their own pace of learning and mastering skills. Forcing them all to compete will disable them for life.

36% not placed just in one IIT? Many more institues there without jobs for youth. New unemployment level achieved by govt.. 1400-1800Crores spent for temple instead of educational institutions & Research center will result in this only.

Modi's Government has established more than 262 new medical colleges . 390 new universities 7 new IITs , 7 new IIMs, 74 new important government institutes. And understand one thing temple has been made by the donations and temple is a holy thing don't compare it with economy . The consecration ceremony of the temple alone has generated INR 100,000 Crore across INDIA . Go search on internet .
