    Three questions: 1. what did you use to cleanup the site? 2. Do you feel that an excavator with hyd thumb is efficient for similar work? 3. What do you think is minimum hp needed for a dozer to do this kind of work up to mesquites with multi-trunk 6"-8" trunks? Thanks! Great video! BH

      I used a John Deere 750k dozer with a tree grubber. Yes a excavator would have done it also. That John Deere has 165 hp. Thanks for watching.

    I e never seen anyone grub with a dozer. I've grubbed for 10 years with an excavator. And skid steer on very small jobs. How many acres an hr do you get. And what kinda regrowth do you get.

    • @DunsmoreMovingDirt
      @DunsmoreMovingDirt  Год назад

      Depending on how thick they are. I seen some patches 1.3 acres an hr. And some really thick at 1/2 acre an hr. Any thicker than that you might as well fing a rootplow. If you get all the stump out that tree won't come back, but if you cut it off it will be back pretty quick. You'll always have more coming back from seed
      You just try to keep them manageable. Thanks for watching.

      @@DunsmoreMovingDirt I've sprayed a lot of mesquite. I've seen it sprayed by plane. I've spot sprayed. With reclaim remedy sendero tordon just about every spray made for mesquite and to be honest the idea that it kills the mesquite I think is false. I see the mesquite get defoliated and lay dormant for 2 or 3 years. But then the base will green up and within 5 years the main trunk will start greening up. Is it just me am I seeing things. I've sprayed the same pasture 3 times now over 12 years and I know 100% I've sprayed the same green trees 3 times. Customer isn't complaining he thinks it works.

      @@DunsmoreMovingDirt I was mainly wondering which you think is faster. Dozer or excavator. In some light mesquite say 20 ft between each I get 1.5 to 1.6 Acers an hr with cat 320 or Hitachi 250 but when it's thick. Shoot it can come down to . 4 acres an hr. To me an excavator has to make the pull each time and the dozer could catch multiple trees when it's thick. Where are you located.

    • @DunsmoreMovingDirt

      I'm located in North Central TX. right on the Archer Wichita county line. That's ideal grubbing when they're 20 ft apart, a dozer may could get closer to 2 acres per hr. I used a Hitachi 300 one time and it seemed slow going from tree to tree once you had tomove. Your right the grubber in narrower than on a dozer but didn't seem to get stopped up. I am not a excavator operator by no means but they have there advantages. I would think in thicker brush you travel less and could grubb more brush. I know it's cleaner grubbing with an excavator than a dozer and and more wear on a dozer undercarriage to grubb. Even though my grubber is wide and can get multiple trees sometimes but have to back up and dump or get it stopped up.
      There is not much good grubbing brush left anymore, it has been whacked on so much its all big stumps and little tops and thick. I turned down alot and told them to get it rootplowed. Enjoyed the conversation.

      @@DunsmoreMovingDirt Interesting. Trying to find a 650 with a U blade. I don’t mind the 6way until time to build a tank. They just don’t carry much material, it’s just about faster to windrow it
