- Attorney Doug Rohan has an excellent breakdown of the FSU v. ACC lawsuits. Will we get to a settlement? Has that been FSU's strategy all along? How long will it take to play out?

Looking over the comments it's easy to see the Trolls and ACC bottom feeders know everything single detail about everything, other than facts.
Yeah appreciate there are a lot of pit and Miami fans on the unemployment line.go figure.from the rust belt,to no Belt.and Miami headed to the sunbelt..got him
Doug is and has been an excellent resource in all this.
Why doesn't the Florida AG get official copies of the SEC, ACC, and Big12 TV Contracts to compare them? What is ESPN hiding from the public?
Because ESPN has nothing to do with it!!! The real lawsuit should be about Syracuse, Boston college and such getting left behind Vanderbilt because there blue bloods failed them by signing such a shitty contract... Remember Maryland where the only smart ones in this deal they said fuck you we want out and 18 months later it was settled in court. Florida State is saying no fucking way now over 10 years later???????? Florida State, Clemson, Miami ECT,,, signed a great deal at the time with them and the ACC . They had no idea that these massive media deals where going to come about!!! I do feel for you guys but it is what it is!!! You guys thought the ACC network was going to put you upfront #1 conference in the nation/// The ACC did what it promised!!!! Florida State and Clemson ETC do what you're supposed to so next time you negotiate your mouth can put the money where you want it??? Florida State, Clemson, Miami ECT don't run to the courts like a mommy with a binkie in your mouth calling 1-800-cry baby!!! In February of 2025 let ESPN know what your expectations are or find a new media partner!!! Trust me there's a lot better way to get what you want without looking like those kids in the grocery store you wish there mother's would get control of!!!!
What others get is in material. This isn't a EOOC complaint among individuals. ACC signed a bad deal, too bad. The crying buy the like of FSU, et al is hilarious. They are stuck in the ACC & signed the deal b/c nobody wanted them. If they didn't like the deal numbers they could have not given their rights, but they did. They could have gone back to be independent, as they claim they could have gotten so much more value than the ACC deal. They also could have left when MD jumped..oh wait they weren't wanted. The B10 tried to coax UNC, UVA and a few others, not FSU or even Clemson, the other whiner. Since, B10 & SEC added many schools & they weren't in the mix.
Thank you Mr Doug Rohan for your outstanding work and keeping us fully posted with your outstanding work commitment and associates
GREAT SHOW! Thank You!
Will you cover Fluegars PATC live show that KU is being looked at by SEC?
Great show and one of the best ever!
This is super interesting!
With what conference do they have a handshake agreement?
I like Doug but it makes zero sense for FSU to announce on August 16th. If they dont announce by August 15th then they will wait until the season is over to announce. I dont see FSU giving the ACC a 2 year notice
But not any more, The rest of the acc bottom feeders have to learn to survive on your own. No more feeding off our success.
Yessir.no more coattailling here.better cut the girls ball team or something
No one wants to be taken advantage of. I find it interesting that people have a comment on something that doesn’t affect them, whether is business or personal. A number of ACC teams are riding on the coattails of FSU and Clemson. The ACC is taking advantage of all the teams and two teams are standing up. Contracts are made to be broken, except now there’s just cause.
So Woodie, when you say that a number of ACC teams are riding on the coattails of FSU and Clemson, well, my response is, yes, you are absolutely right. They are. There's one thing we know. All of this is absolutely about money. It's pretty simple. Once NIL arose, the ACC football powers were immediately put at a disadvantage versus their peers in the SEC and Big Ten. After all, isn't the five star recruit going to choose Alabama over Florida State if the Tide can pay the kid twice as much?
And all the other members of the ACC ----North Carolina, Virginia, Louisville, NC State, Pitt, Va Tech----are waiting to see how much it will cost to get out. So, let FSU and Clemson scrap it out with the league. Everyone else is perfectly content to see how this unfolds. The guest on the show is probably right. There'll be a settlement by August. That's when things will accelerate. Everyone will know what their options are and will have to make choices.
Some of the better known names will have good options. There will be a top tier of schools that will be able to go to either the Big Ten or SEC. My guess is UNC, UVA will be able to choose. A second tier would probably go to the Big XII, Louisville, Pitt. Others will have to remain in the ACC. Wake Forest, Boston College, maybe. The ACC will not implode. They'll just bring up some of the bigger AAC schools like South Florida, East Carolina. etc. Regardless, I don't think fans will have to wait to see where this is going. The picture will be much clearer by the end of the summer
Florida State University was a girl teaching school practically irrelevant before the ACC. Academically sub standard. ACC Basketball money gave them a makeover in the 90s.
That happens in every conference, not just the ACC, ie Vanderbilt, Rutgers, et.al.
@@rx2878A girl’s teaching school? Why, yes, it was. Florida State College for Women became Florida State University in 1947 in response to the overwhelming number of returning servicemen from WWII who wanted to go to college on the GI Bill.
FSU did not join the ACC until 45 years later.
As an independent, FSU set the NCAA record, at the time, of 14 straight Top 5 finishes.
Academically, FSU ranks #53, tied with Minnesota. Of B1G schools, FSU is ahead of Michigan State, Penn State, Indiana, Iowa, Oregon and Nebraska, in that order.
Thank you for bringing this important issue up.
@@tomsmithdeal775 the official school of inbred sub-bama weirdos.
Hello guys. Go Clemson
Fsu and clemson are the acc, we could shit the bed every year. The viewers and money we bring still fuels the acc.
Why is Vanderbilt always exampled. That's SEC business.
Florida and South Carolina are better examples for FSU and Clemson because they are in their states and in the SEC, who also has a TV contract with ESPN. Vandy and Rutgers are used to drive that revenue gap argument home.
Go nole The climb continue
Mr Rohan
I hear many people saying that the ACC will settle. You said there was a 98% chance. If the departure of FSU and Clemson constitute an existential threat to the ACC, why wouldn't the ACC force this to go to the bitter end?
Well if ESPN doesn't renegotiate the GOR would seem to end with the ESPN contract
AND
They may not think their case is a slam dunk. Being that the GOR grants the rights the ACC needs to fulfill the ESPN contract, the case could be very weak. What obligation does the ACC have to deliver games ESPN if a school withdrawals?
That is a very fair question. The ACC is already paying for attorneys on four cases in two states. If UNC jumps in, that is a fifth case (both in NC, so only plus 1 in the lawsuit column). If they settle for $200M, only FSU and Clemson are prepared to pay that. They keep everyone else intact. If they take it to trial and lose on any of the potential issues, everyone can leave for next to nothing. The likelihood of a full ACC victory on every issue brought up by both members seems incredibly unlikely. The cost to defend and reach the end may be enough to jeopardize the conference. We shall see. FSU has no incentive to pay full fare. They would just stay in the conference. So maybe my expectation that the ACC is ready to accept a compromise is overly optimistic.
As a corporate attorney, this homer FSU fan is spreading misinformation about a case FSU has already lost, and will have spent hundreds of millions just adding to FSUs cost of FSU leaving the ACC, which will not happen in next 6 years minimum. And the fans will be paying for this lawsuit for years.
@@williamgreen9865 And there is a reason why you practice corporate law. And you are the one spreading disinformation. Corporate attorney my a$$, YOU are just another ACC homer whose team has been sucking on the FSU and Clemson teat and sees the free ride ending so your comment is nothing but sour grapes.
@@williamgreen9865 I read your prior comments, on full tilt all in caps. Your temperament would make you a horrible corporate attorney. I call BS.
But you are an angry man so there is that!
Been on FSU’s side from the beginning. 13-0 and miss the playoffs ? What a joke. And I’m a West Virginia fan I’ve no skin in the game
Amazing how many legal experts love to comment on shit they have no idea what they’re talking about. A lot of expert contract lawyers on RUclips. 😂
It says case "could "be resolved, not its gonna be.read a book people.hell read a sentence
Everyone that is getting tired of this case would like it to end quickly. The way I see it is that the ACC has every inclination to stall this out. The 2 factors that could speed this up would be fear of the media document becoming public in Florida or the February 1st deadline for ESPN to renew the media deal (ESPN will want to know who is in and who is out before signing the dotted line for a mystery product).
Wrong. ESPN has distribution deals with the ACC, Big 12 and SEC. FSU isn't going to the Big 10 because it doesn't have ESPN. Look at Oklahoma and Texas. They've gone from the Big 12 to the SEC. The same fate will await FSU. Finally, FSU hasn't been to the college football playoffs in 10 years; and, when they were there got killed by Oregon by 39 points. FSU isn't the big media product it thinks it is.
@@CarlaJenkinsTVyou are entitled to your opinions. Hope you are still posting on every football RUclips channel when this is all finalized.
The bottom line is there is a reason that ESPN hasn’t signed the media deal through 2036 yet (even when it would greatly help the ACC’s case). They are weighing their options and would like to know the product they would be paying for before signing that dotted line. Any business would.
The lawyers would like to keep this case going as long as possible...
@@CarlaJenkinsTVyou got your facts wrong , even in FSU down years they still had high viewership, but what the hell has Oregon won ever won , you acting like FSU wasn’t jus 3-6 in 2020 now they are 13-0 , you dnt know what your talking about
@@CarlaJenkinsTV Why would FSU want to go to the SEC, who pigeonholed themselves on a private failing TV network (Disney/ESPN) when they can make a lot more money for sports AND academics, while getting their AAU membership in the B1G? FSU hates Disney/ESPN and are actively trying to expose their shady backdoor business dealings in court.
#Law Morgan and Morgan. For the people. Size matters.
It's amazing to me that the ACC has screwed Florida State over so bad that they even have enough money to think about a new stadium???
Once Clemson and FSU have left this mismanaged conference you'll see their true value. Unfortunately, it will be way too late.
ACC obsession !
Anyone who thinks the ACC is going anywhere anytime soon is naive.
Once FSU and Clemson leave it will collapse and they will leave
@@shaunclemtiger they're not going anywhere anytime soon either
Bro you’re naive
And you know this because you are ????? Just another loser ACC homer I think. You state your opinions like they are facts so you are misleading with your statements.
If u mean taking on Chattanooga as a new team and maybe troy.then yeah they are definitely "GOING PLACES".life long noles fan.acc sucks
Seeing is believing but since u guys know so much put your money where your mouth is
FSU stays in ACC until 2036. They should have never agreed to join the ACC back in the 90s. Miami should have stayed in the Big East. Once you agreed to join the ACC? Then you made your bed.
"IF" the ACC would've upheld its side of the contract you would be absolutely correct. Unfortunately, the ACC has failed miserably.
lmfaooooooooooo! That court case is going to take a looong time. Sorry Johnny, go peddle another lawyer trying to draw clients.
Absolutely. The ACC has sued FSU in Charlotte; plus, the judge in Leon County, FL told FSU to re-file else he would have to side with the ACC in its dismissal. Furthermore, there is getting out of the ACC vs getting out of ESPN especially when Disney, the largest taxpayer in Florida owns FSU.
Ouch... your comment did not age very well.
I mean he is an actual lawyer. So....
@@CarlaJenkinsTVwell if the ACC wins the case and FSU has to pay a half a billion dollars to get out , it’ll come out of tax payers pocket and if Disney is a taxpayer they ll have to chip in
@EricThe82, What cha talkin bout lil buddy?
Total nonsense
The ACC won in court. Even the Leon County judge (where Tallahassee is located) made FSU re-file their complaint. Common sense is if FSU has the $572 million they would have been left. Also with the second lowest endowment within the ACC, FSU doesn't have that type of money to leave (yes I've heard about the $327 million being borrowed). Finally, there is getting out of the ACC and then getting out of ESPN.
Except if Clemson is right and the wording on the GOR specifies ESPN, then the 2 schools can pay the $120 million conference exit fee and go to the B1G.
They wouldn’t pay 572 even if they had it. Unenforceable penalty.
Why would someone volunteer to pay a ridiculous amount of money before even attempting to negotiate it down or hiring attorneys to attack the justification of the payment?
@@davidb3422only with an invite.
The ACC did not win in court. The judge even said so during the trial. I guess you were busy with your TV show that day. See my earlier comment about the rest of the stupid stuff you spout off. And please tell me why anyone (except for maybe you) would pay 572 million to leave when they can just turn the lights on in the ACC and watch all the roaches scatter for cover and when it is all said and done, leave for free.
What a shameless advertisement to begin this video.
What happens if FSU shits the bed like they’ve been doing for 4 out the last 6 years? FSU isn’t a perennial juggernaut like they want to think they are. It’s not the Bobby Bowden era anymore and with that bowl game and spring game, they seem to be on a major down trend.
Norvell has raised the floor. If you think there is any chance of three win or four win seasons ahead, you aren’t paying attention or you’re just a troll.
None of that means anything. The B1G TV partners want them in Florida and FSU has a large fan base.
Jealous much?
If your aunt had nuts she be your uncle or if were fifths we all be drunk , what if FSU takes off like they did from 1977 to 2018 weee they didn’t have a losing season for 4 decades , then what you going say
Good luck in the G-8 Spring College Football League
