- With the release of Tangent's newest Trinity 4750 hopper, I wanted to pick up a few to weather! The first car done is this excellent GACX exBNSF prototype. In this video, I show all my tricks and techniques for weathering this unique prototype.
Love your videos. I learn so much about weathering. Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us novices!
After I saw your video, I went to the hobby shop and found one of these on the shelf (they actually had at least three). It was in perfect condition when I got it home and It had the stenciling under the reporting marks. In case you're interested they are LDMT 222300 and LT WT 63700. By the way, nice job on the weathering, just wish I could do as well.
Really good work. It looks real.
WAKE UP BRO DANSRAILROAD2011 JUST UPLOADED
Fantastic job
Another great job.
Looks excellent Dan. Merry Christmas.
Excellent work!!!
great job again Dan
Great work Dan! Merry Christmas!
Looks great brother! Merry Christmas 🎄
Nice job! It wouldn't be a Tangent if it didn't arrive with loose, broken or missing parts. However, missing the data is definitely a lack of quality control. I recently purchased the INTX “UP Patch 2013” Trinity Industries Inc 4750CuFt Covered Hopper and it arrived with broken stirrups.
Again, great work as always. My question for you is how do feel about using the Apple Barrel acrylic paint verses Anita's craft paint, since they're not available? Thanks for sharing your techniques & making us better model railroaders.
I’m guessing these are former BN grain hoppers that BNSF acquired and eventually sold to leasing companies. These 4750s are my favourite freight car, especially to weather. I model N scale, and my problem is is when I do my streaks I paint with my brush, my lines are usually an arc or bend, not straight, any tips as far as holding the brush correctly and getting a straight vertical up and down result?
Dan,
Another great weathering job! How does one know what a hopper car is carrying, i.e. salt, phosphate, fertilizer, etc? Are there some sort of marking(s) on the car? Second question, I model the 1990's. What resource(s) are available to find prototype freight cars from that era? Merry Christmas !
ugh i might have to order one of these i got the up patch ones but these are pretty tempting
