  • Shadow's combo potential in Project 06 is insane! :D
For Shadow's gameplay, which is very combat-oriented compared to Sonic's, the principles behind acquiring long combos are simple: stay in the air for as long as possible and be fast. Touching the ground too soon or taking too long to kill the next enemy will kill your combos.
So, how do you pull off really long combs? Well, here are the tricks I used in the video to keep my combo going for as long as possible:
    1. Chaos Snap - Accessible only in Chaos Boost Mode, it basically gives you a homing attack on top of your jump dash, effectively doubling your homing attack range. Just hold down the jump button when jump dashing. This is the most basic combo trick that everyone should already be familiar with.
    2. Homing Attack Refresh - If you use your chaos spear in the air, you get an extra jump dash, even if you haven't used your first one. If you're close enough to an enemy, that extra jump dash becomes a nice homing attack/Chaos Snap, allowing you to hit distant enemies to maintain your combos. Knowing this, you can pull off either of the following sequences:
Jump -- Jump Dash -- Chaos Spear -- Homing Attack/Chaos Snap
Jump -- Chaos Spear -- Jump Dash -- Chaos Spear -- Homing Attack/Chaos Snap
[You can add more Chaos Spears to either of these sequences at any point--you get up to three Chaos Spears in the air--but this is not necessary.]
    3. Chaos Spear Combo Freeze - Special thanks to RUclips user "FREE-MAN MUSIC" for this tip! If you kill an enemy with a Chaos Lance or a charged Chaos Spear, you can touch the ground for a bit before your combo ends. Using this, you can pull off a spin dash and a jump to reach distant foes that even a simple Chaos Snap can't reach.
    4. Chaos Spear - Sometimes the simplest tricks can be the most effective. I often use Chaos Spear for the following purposes:
    a. to readjust my position in the air for a homing attack/Chaos Snap follow-up
    b. to give me an opportunity to use the camera to look around for more targets to keep my combo going
    c. to prevent me from touching the ground too quickly, which is really helpful for enemies that take a while to show up (e.g. Iblis fire worms)
For reference, I used the combo freeze trick at 0:35 and 0:45, and I used the refresh trick at 0:41 (by accident, lol). Chaos Snap and Chaos Spear are used throughout the video, of course.
One last personal tip: I prefer to use the straight jump dash instead of the curved jump dash or legacy jump dash. The straight jump dash makes Chaos Snapping to enemies a lot less disorienting and more reliable.
It's technically possible to keep the combo going at 0:40 and 0:45 by using a simple Chaos Snap, but it's VERY tricky to pull that off in terms of positioning and timing. Those gaps between the enemies are quite wide.
Hopefully, I covered everything. If not, I can always make a follow-up to the video. :)
