@ben swanwick I didn't mention how I feel about Rudd, because it's not relevant to the topic, which is whether the Murdochs have a media monopoly, and whether that monopoly is harmful to Australian democracy. That's the thing about facts: they're still facts no matter how we feel about the person presenting them. Tippy Magoo made a clever comment about the strategy of the Murdoch-affiliated Journalists, who didn't address the topic of Rudd's presentation, but confronted him on controversies from his time as PM. Perhaps you were trying to refute that comment, but you actually supported it, by making a point completely irrelevant to the topic, just as those journalists did. Also, you didn't supply facts; you said "many young Australians died installing" the batts, but that's an exaggeration. Four men died: Matthew Fuller, Rueben Barnes, Marcus Wilson, and Mitchell Sweeney. That's a tragedy, certainly, and there was a Royal Commision about it which found the Rudd Government responsible, but why exaggerate it? Why mention it at all in relation to the topic of media ownership, unless you want to demonstrate the only rebuttal Murdoch rags and coalition politicians like Morrison have to the commonly-held belief that the the Rudd government's strategy to combat the GFC was effective: "Pink batts, pink batts, pink batts". And on your other point, the ABC has a Charter and can be held to account for failing adhere to it, unlike the Murdoch media. Another argument one could make, if the ABC does in fact lean to the left, is that it slightly balances the avalanche of misinformation, disinformation, and blatant propaganda produced by Murdoch media.
@ben swanwick Many is defined as a large number, and I don't consider 4 a large number, but that's semantics, and doesn't change the fact that the 4 deaths were tragic, unnecessary, and the responsibility of the Rudd government, which was the conclusion of the Royal Commission. And the Home Insulation Program was part of the Rudd Government's strategy to counter the GFC, and was rolled out, too quickly, to stimulate the economy and create jobs, to combat the GFC. These are facts, easily checked, but still not relevant to the topic. If you're not interested in Murdoch why are you commenting on this video, which is primarily focused on the Murdoch media monopoly? Do you just look for any opportunity to criticise Rudd about what he did as PM? That's your choice, of course, but it's certainly not hurting Rudd. "Failed PM" he might be, but he seems to be doing pretty well for himself. Rudd made mistakes, and there are many people that hate him on both sides of politics, but that doesn't mean the points he's making are wrong. As I understand it, based partly on my limited understanding of Matt Taibbi's journalism on the topic, the reason that media organisations in the States are so polarised is that they figured out it makes them more money, . The more they push extremes, the more people tune in, and the more money they make, which is the main reason Murdoch media has pushed further and further to the right. It also helps that the politicians to the right of politics tend to support tax cuts for corporations more than those on the left, among other things. That said, at least in the States there are two sides to the news presented; somewhere in the middle there might actually be a few facts. And surely Australia can do better than the US, can't we, particularly in view of the recent history of that country? Surely there should be strong authorities that hold media accountable when they lie or attempt to pervert the democratic process, shouldn't there? If such authority was applied equally to the ABC, NewsCorp, Fairfax, and all media providers, enforcing quality journalism, wouldn't we all be better off? That is really the gist of Rudd's argument.
Keep on keeping on Kevin! I love watching all your uploads and love the awareness you are spreading about these concerning issues. It's time that we all start talking about these issues and make positive changes for our future!
Tried to listen to this on the ABC the other day and couldn't get to hear all of it. Mr Rudd just keeps making sense on these issues, the damage done to the US I believe hasn't been fully revealed yet, with a widening abyss between the Democrats and Republicans causing bitter behaviour, on both sides. How one organisation has been allowed to grow to influence so much of our world politics and lives is disgraceful. We can only hope a Royal Commission begins.
Whatever your view on politics, the most important ingredient of a democracy is where the voters can make informed decisions based on real facts. We know the Murdoch press across the world pedals a warped view of reality, so Rudd's attempts to hold them accountable should be applauded.
Mate wish you could be PM again. you're awareness of the global issues facing our country and the prospects of how great this country could be are on point.
Keep up the hard work, I know that the effort and time that you put into fighting hard for us takes a huge part of your time and effort that you could easily be using to relax. You aren’t relaxing, you are standing up for Australia, showing what we can, and should, be. Keep doing the amazing work that you are doing, mate. Our current government certainly won’t bother to do it.
Well done Kevin Rudd. As the camera panned the room it was obvious the Murdoch guys were troubled. You still have my support and I often wonder were we'd be if you were given a fair shake of the proverbial.
Between the journalists who asked questions, the one from The Australian really stood out for the wrong reasons. He just asked political questions which bear no relevance to argument, and just spins an image. If they wanted to truly question Mr Rudd's position then they would actually ask about specific points. But that's not how News Corp rolls.
Did you see rudd speak about the murdoch royal commission in the senate. One liberal MP who wasnt even listening asked a stupid question that rudd already answered and once he saw rudd didnt get stumped he just gets up and leaves. And other guy who I think was also a liberal MP, after all the disscussion about media monopoly starts asking unrelated gotcha questions. It's as if these people are paid to go to these things for the sole purpose of asking a list of questions
Wow he started flamethrowing, talk about burn. Lots of work to do 🇦🇺 Kevin Rudd is a shining example of what Australia can produce in a leader but he does seem to be better as a lone wolf especially seeing his career trajectory post the PM role. I was too young and unconcerned about Aussie politics back then but I always thought gee, he was ahead of his time, that Australia as a nation wasn't ready for his kind- now I can definitely see why I thought that.

@@julianchung9215 its a no brainer... geographically Australia is so close to China which is the top 3 economies of the world, Australia can benefit and advantage so much if they played their cards right. But the liberals seem to sabotage the efforts of Rudd's public relations with China and like what Rudd said , the media that is controlled by the Murdoch empire and his cohorts in the liberal party just keeps adding fuel to the fire by reporting the news with an agenda that brainwash the public and creating hate against China and the Chinese community. The general public should have the capacity for critical thinking to make their own judgement on our current situation and address the underlying issues that the liberal keep on sweeping under the carpet. BTW this is not a biased comment, Turnbull was in touch with the people aswell but just the rich people that live in the eastern suburbs of Sydney thats all.
Just an observation. Rudd & Craig Murray UK and some of these US former Diplomats who speak up about faulty paths being undertaken are truly admired & have such high intellect, knowledge. Some individuals just see them as adversary against personal intentions of power it seems.
At various times I have loved/not so loved Kevin07. I understand his Parliamentary colleagues found him difficult to work with/for, I don't know how much truth there was in that and how it could have been resolved, but with him, Julia, Bill, Albo and the absolute plethora of talented people in the ALP, had the electorate not been fed the diet of utter B/S by the Murdoch empire they would have transformed Oz for the better, I doubt whether Abbott, Turnbull or Morrison would have got a look in. I miss you Kev.
We didn't let him down, the corporate toadies he was always fighting against within the Labour Party (ie.Obeid boys) DEPOSED him for NO REASON. They only brought him back to try to swindle an election then they would have deposed him again had he won. Gillard sold us all out for her own power. That's the opening she provided for Murdoch to smash through. Murdoch has been in control of the narrative ever since.

Oh how I miss Kevin. And just for the record Julia Gillard is a corporate toady that was all in with the Obeid boys. Kevin has more integrity than Julia will ever understand let alone exhibit.
Julia Gillard had the integrity not to white-ant and leak maliciously against her own government after being deposed as leader and PM. She may have taken Rudd down, but she took advantage of Rudd’s declining popularity and panic in the back benches about the coming election. Rudd spent the next three years engineering the demise of Gillard. I don’t really care. I think they were going to lose in 2013 anyway. But we will never know now. Gillard, once she lost her leadership, left politics. What evidence have you that she was a “corporate toady”? She wasn’t perceived that way. Rudd came to power in 2007 backed by Murdoch in no small part due to his fiscal policies. Rudd was a member of Labor Right. Gillard was Labor Left. Surprise, surprise, by the next election Murdoch had changed his mind. You may not like Julia Gillard for what she did to Kevin Rudd. But it’s clear to most that Rudd gave at least as good as he got between 2010 and 2013. As for her being a sell out, I can’t think what you would be referring to.
Thanks for your hard work Kev; you seem to be the only one in Australia willing to stand up to the Murdoch monopoly. Albo needs to get behind this.
There's a lot of sour looking men in blue suits in the room 😂
I suspect some that didn't dare turn to look at their partners as they know their behaviours
to them have just been called out.
There ARE a lot of ....etc etc....
Monstrous double standards...hahahaha.
I fear Australia will never be able to produce a policy brain like yours again. Such brilliant ideas for the future of our country.
Is he a professor anywhere? That would be an awesome contribution to the next generation. I'd quit work and sign up for uni again if he did.
Keep up the pressure Kevin!!! God knows this country needs it!
Excellent question from the young man! Thank you & thanks Mr Rudd for leading this important cause.
Kevin '21! Who's with me?!
A stunning lesson in what true Leadership looks like! With the added bonus of being able to deal with complexity. Thank you Kevin.
Keep it up Kevin!
I genuinely enjoyed watching the WHOLE video. Thank you Mr Kevin Rudd.
Imagine having a well spoken rational prime minister with strong morals in charge of this country again.
A man can dream.
Lol the news Corp kid got slaughtered. Best 5 minutes of RUclips I’ve seen for a while
It was glorious

Whatever your view on politics, the most important ingredient of a democracy is where the voters can make informed decisions based on real facts.
We know the Murdoch press across the world pedals a warped view of reality, so Rudd's attempts to hold them accountable should be applauded.
Thank you Mr Rudd
Could you imagine the current PM being this eloquent?
Amazing speech Lord Rudd!
Pity The ALP doesn't have this talent leading the party now. Very educated well versed ex PM. Good on you Kevin.
Mate wish you could be PM again. you're awareness of the global issues facing our country and the prospects of how great this country could be are on point.
You're a national treasure, Kevin. We're here to support you.
Just a great representation of Leadership and the relevance to analysis and thought behind thinking.
Behind you all the way Kevin!
I have read the Case for Courage last week and you couldn't have written it any better.
I love your mind Kevin.
Well done Kev, we miss you
Keep up the hard work, I know that the effort and time that you put into fighting hard for us takes a huge part of your time and effort that you could easily be using to relax.
You aren’t relaxing, you are standing up for Australia, showing what we can, and should, be.
Keep doing the amazing work that you are doing, mate.
Our current government certainly won’t bother to do it.
Good on ya Kevin! I wish I could have done organising for you during your prime ministershp
Watched live but missed the start. Brilliant stuff. I actually cheered at a couple of points! Let's go Kevin27!!
46:03 BAM!💥
How good is it! that bloke stood no chance!
Lol road kill....
30,000 views is nowhere near enough for something this important.
A glimpse of hope for the future of the country, thank you Kevin Rudd! Enjoyed how you handled that slimey Murdoch reporter!
Well done Kevin Rudd. As the camera panned the room it was obvious the Murdoch guys were troubled. You still have my support and I often wonder were we'd be if you were given a fair shake of the proverbial.
Some of Kevin's best work right there!
Between the journalists who asked questions, the one from The Australian really stood out for the wrong reasons.
He just asked political questions which bear no relevance to argument, and just spins an image. If they wanted to truly question
Mr Rudd's position then they would actually ask about specific points.
Lots of work to do 🇦🇺
Kevin Rudd is a shining example of what Australia can produce in a leader but he does seem to be better as a lone wolf especially seeing his career trajectory post the PM role. I was too young and unconcerned about Aussie politics back then but I always thought gee, he was ahead of his time, that Australia as a nation wasn't ready for his kind- now I can definitely see why I thought that.
Kevin You got my full supports 👍👍👍
Thanks Kevin. Good on ya mate.
Caught the last 40 minutes of this at the gym yesterday, I couldn't stop laughing when you put that Murdoch shill in his place.
When you return to the office of PM Kev...
Silenced Australia will be waiting...
Love. Love. Love. 👏👏👏
Yes Uncle Kev....what a brilliant speech. Keep up the pressure mate. BTW is there any chance at all you could start your own party?? you should be running this joint
He and Turnbull would make a brilliant team.
Please stand for PM again. We need you Kevin.
Go Kevin! We are all rooting for ya mate
Good on ya Kevin 👍
Fair shake of the sauce bottle.
This was a good watch. Articulating issues everyone should know about really. The section on lack of economic diversity and technology investment is huge for me.
Absolutely Brendan. We haven’t heard a proper discussion of those important issues for years.
Kevin Rudd's technocracy realised.
Australia is part of Asia, it is obvious that the Asian countries should be our natural trading partners. Who cares about race, at the end of the day what's important is that we have a job and enough monies to support our families.
@@nooley97 true, unfortunate for me I'm just a small voice ergo Westie lol
The conclusion and final statement was gold 👏🏽
LETSGGOOOOOOOOOO KEVIN!!!
Essay from best & most important, relevant speech I have heard in a long time, as an interested observer. Wahoo, Cannon fire of what needs expelled.
Just an observation. Rudd & Craig Murray UK and some of these US former Diplomats who speak up about faulty paths being undertaken are truly admired & have such high intellect, knowledge. Some individuals just see them as adversary against personal intentions of power it seems.
Ironic that someone going for Murdoch like this and it not making front page news on the daily just shows that they have a media monopoly.
Go get em Kev!
stick it to them kev
KEVIN FOR PM - a man who actually hears and understands Australian people.
That bloke at 43mins in is quivering in his boots 😂
The sad Murdoch hack.
The intern
At various times I have loved/not so loved Kevin07. I understand his Parliamentary colleagues found him difficult to work with/for, I don't know how much truth there was in that and how it could have been resolved, but with him, Julia, Bill, Albo and the absolute plethora of talented people in the ALP, had the electorate not been fed the diet of utter B/S by the Murdoch empire they would have transformed Oz for the better, I doubt whether Abbott, Turnbull or Morrison would have got a look in. I miss you Kev.
He was the chosen one and we let him down.....
@@sheeplefree816 i know you're right i just wish we could have done something about it
@@gregpericleous6687 What we need to do is start teaching linguistics in school. The study of language is incredibly important right now or we have no hope. They USE psychology & linguistics to corrupt everything. Some Northern European countries have figured this out & are teaching their kids now. The are shit scared of going through Fascist rule again.
Murdoch media monopoly is so dangerous for the future of our country, thank you so much Kevin for your fight to expose this disaster.
Get 'em Kev!
Apathy is rife in Straya' this should have 12mil likes.
Hey Kev, can we please have you back as PM? Maybe tomorrow or something?
Run for preselection again Kev.
Ladies and Gentleman
Kevin Like A BOSS Rudd
Thanks for your hard work Kev; you seem to be the only one in Australia willing to stand up to the Murdoch monopoly. Albo needs to get behind this. If he doesn't Labor will never have a shot at winning or if they do win, the policies will represent them not wanting to piss off the vested power interests, therefore they won't be an effective political party with big ideas like yours mate.
news limited sent the work experience kid in alone with a question the millennials had brainstormed.
how pathetic.
Not quite sure why this comment needs the generational bias?
Very bizarre stab at millennials.
- from a millennial
I'd argue that Millennials are the highest watching demographic of what Kevin Rudd has been doing tbh.
That question had Boomer written all over it. Nearly all Millenials see through the Murdoch media bullshit.
I would argue Millennials are Kevin's largest supporters.
'Onya Kev., go get 'em.
Well done!
Kevin im glad your back on the scence in Australia. please run for pm the labour mob only has Shorten making any noise about the huge mismanagement. no government has bungled a trillion dollar debt for Australians so quietly , the media turns a blind eye.
40:42 This. "If you challenge the Murdoch Beast head on, in Australian public political life, they will come after you, and take your head off! Because there is so much power and so much money at stake"
Come back Kev, Australian need you as our PM!
Good on you Kevin. You mopped the floor with these numb skulls.
Nice one mate
Kevin is a brilliant strategist. Sad he is no longer the PM of Australia. He would have done much better for Australians
excellent
I wish I could comment as eloquently as Kevin speaks. I think one of my biggest takeaways from your approach to the media situation is that the media can't try to pull skeletons out of your closest if the closest is on full display for all to see.
Also I couldn't help but smile at the sneaky "Abbot came first" near the beginning of your talk. 😂
Good onya Kev.
I loved seeing Kevin expertly dismantling all the BS questions thrown his way from the Murdoch Gang. You can see the nervousness on their face knowing that their whole line of logic is about to be torn to shreds. Those parts were particularly entertaining
Nice work
Kevin, you were not the perfect PM. The first PM I remember was Billy McMahon. They were all flawed in some way. I love the contribution you are now making to Australia and the world. Your closing remark will probably become my motto, "Speak Less and Do More".
Ruddy good show 👏👍👂👂
