Cool! I have a Reedual machine while studying at Ohio University in 80's and it is still in good working condition..it's great for making copies of 'favourite' reed/s.
The Reedual works great for all single reeds, from Eb clarinet to Baritone Sax. To adapt to different size reeds, just place the model reed and reed blank at a different position on the cutting table. The written instructions on the web site explain this in detail.
Will the new reed have a heart in the correct spot or will that depend on whether the model has one? Also, you mentioned that when you were going to make strikes starting from the outer edge that you would always be returning to the middle when getting near the tip. I could see that you did this for the side that is further away from you but, I was not sure when you did on the opposite side. Will you need to use the same number of strikes per side? I would think that if the machine is using the model reed that the correct amount would come off in say, 1 or 2 strikes. Would you mind if I emailed more questions ( if I can locate your address)? I do not want to use up the entire space here just on my questions. Thank you in advance. Was this reed similar to an Olivari reed?
Yes, the heart will be in the same place as your model reed. I make three reeds with every machine I assemble, and each is accurate to within .001" of an inch. My email address is reedual@gmail.com, and I will be glad to answer your questions in detail. Thanks for your interest. John Weigand
