RE1 was in a peculiar spot when games were finally ready to give their characters real voices (apart of "ENEMY CHASER!" type jingles), but before developers realized those characters need to be voiced by real actors for quality.
Good video, friend, it deserves at least 100x views you currently have! 💪🏻

Never had the Sega Saturn port, but I used to have the Nintendo DS version. DS version was good and added content not found on the PS1 or Saturn versions.
Capcom is weird, they never ported RE1 to the Dreamcast. But they did port RE2 and RE3, which if my memory is right, were based on the pc ports.
Meanwhile, GameCube got all the main RE games up to RE4 except for a port of RE1 Director's Cut.
Btw, does the Saturn port have that God awful Basement track the PS1 RE1 Director's Cut Dual Shock version had? The original track found in the 1996 original and 1997 Director's Cut is great.

Yeah, the Gamecube has the best run of Resident Evil games, and the ports of 2, 3, and CV were on par with the Dreamcast versions!
Thankfully, the Saturn does not have the awful basement track you are referring to.. I was hoping it would have the wacky song over the character introductions though, which I think is on the Japanese PS1 version?

@THHDReviews, Capcom delivered on GameCube. Too bad the sales weren't that great.
That's great. Oh, it doesn't have the cheesy Japanese intro where Chris has got a shotgun and lights up a cigarette!? Lame.
Does the Saturn port have the in color intro cutscene that was still censored in the PS1 Director's Cut? The back of the Director's Cut box claimed it was uncensored too lmao.
Or, how about the cutscene where you meet the 1st zombie? In the uncensored version, Kenneth's head is decapitated. Even the DS port has this cutscene.

@THHDReviews, And yes that intro cutscene with the song was from the Japanese release. I think the pc port of RE1 in the US has it too.

@@Gruntvc it's black and white for the intro, but it does have the zombie dropping the head later on.
I used everything from my capture for the video, except for the title screen in one of the chapter transitions!
If only the Saturn got the other two games.. but I've at least got Dreamcast versions for 2, 3, and CV!

@THHDReviews, The Dreamcast ports were better. Heck, they look a lot better than playing the original PS1 releases on actual hardware.
Imagine if Saturn got the real grandpa of survival horror, Alone In The Dark. I don't think that was even ported to PS1, just the sequels.
